Love hand and neck/throat tattoos, am fascinated by them. Last time I was in getting tattooed while my tattooist was doodling on my leg we chatted. He said he can see me getting my neck/throat and hands done. He laughed at my look, he said he can tell the type. I wouldn't mind getting my hands done. Though it will be probably when I retire and only after I have full sleeves done, as love the look of hand tattoos that flow down from full sleeves. Only 20odd years away then lol

I work in admin, and although dress code is slack. Can wear jeans and hoodie to work they do have a no visible tattoo policy. Which is fair enough, a lot of places do. Everyone at work knows I'm tattooed. Love it when still get reactions of "I had no idea you were so heavily tattooed" and similar. When it comes to getting arms worked on again, I will stop at an inch, maybe half an inch shy of half sleeve, as would like to be able to wear short sleeves, if I want too. Always makes me smile, because the managers think it's a stupid policy esp when am not front of house. But hey at least can dress casual not like some places.

Booked next one today. Early April will be getting a H R Giger tribute done on left lower leg next to Angel Tyrael. Very excited, I've been looking forward to getting this one done for ages and now it's nearly time. Not that long till April and it'll give a chance to save those precious ££ lol

Was hoping to go to Belfast this weekend to book next one, but now looks like won't be until end of month. Will be getting a Giger tribute on lower left leg, beside the angel. After that have lots planned, will decide on order when time comes. Have a gap at back of lower right leg that needs filled. Working on a tattoo idea to honour my ancestors in general, I have a commissioned piece I want done. Working on filler ideas. Some more Giger work, would like some Escher done. A memory tattoo, my left ribs, need my other hip done, stomach, top half of boobs, arms finished off to half sleeve at the moment, eventually full sleeve. Of course my back. Eventually would like the ones on legs merged with ones on feet and ankles all done...

Your overall look as a tattooed person

Thanks @KBeee, I took a quick look and glad am not alone. So since last post, am back on dating scene, and am seriously thinking of saying fuck it! Won't go into a rant, but may do so later on the ladies thread. In the meantime, recently have had lots say to me that I've changed their views of heavily tattooed people. That made me smile. -
Haha, thanks @KBeee we all knit differently, but it's the end result that counts right? :) Not knitted in ages, because am currently working like crazy on a non-knitting project.

I waited until I was in my 20's before I started getting tattooed. I just stopped a random bloke in the street in Belfast (he was cute as well) and asked him where he'd got his sleeve done. He directed me to InkCastle in Belfast. They were only walk-ins, dunno if they've changed or now. When I went in had no idea of what was going on, so I asked them questions, went back various times and asked more questions. Then took a friend with me for support and only when after filling in and signing the sheet, did it seem real. How I came across Tommygunn in Belfast City Skinworks, I came across him by accident. Some random bloke stopped me and asked if had any work done by Skull, I said no and he directed me to Skull. From him I met Tommygunn. This was many many years ago. And after long time not getting tattooed, started getting tattooed by Tommygunn again earlier this year. And, I fucking love it! :)

For TATTOOERS ONLY, what's your biggest pet peeve?
purplelace replied to dari's topic in Crazy Tattoo Stories
Loving this thread. In regards to people asking if their position is ok for tattooing. I ask after a break, 9times out of 10 the reply is "yes". To which I say, okay, I'm going to sleep, wake me up when it's over. Hell, I normally say that before he starts/just after he starts. He prefers if if I sleep, my body is more relaxed and he doesn't talk much so it works out well. Told him last time was in was thinking about fillers, he asked me to draw up what had in mind and we can go from there. I can't draw for toffee, but at least it'll give him an idea of what have in mind. And, I can relate to those saying "how much for a sleeve?" type questions. I get asked similar stuff a lot. More recently "I want a butterfly done, one wing bigger than the other with Japanese clouds behind. How much do you think?" I don't fucking know, I'm not a tattoo artist!! Gah! So damn fucking annoying.- 158 replies

And...the itching has started, Bepanthen is my best friend. When I got Angel Tyrael done, it still looked damn good during that haze, but maybe it was cause of the nature of the tattoo? Fuck, I dunno. Am I even making sense? Am still on first cuppa of the day here. Generally speaking though that hazy bit, never bothers me. I love seeing how the tattoo progresses from how it looks on the day, to how it changes and will eventually look. Maybe I'm just weird? No need to answer that last question lol -

*nods* And I know from previous heavy blackwork, that this will itch like a fucking bastard! Bepanthen will be my best friend, as is usual post tattoo. The paracetamol is doing it's job and it's not swelling much. Redness is also gone, bit bruised around outside of wings and above Tyrael's head. It looks like he's got a dark halo! lol well okay if a halo was squished. At least my bosses/co-workers no longer pass any remarks when lift jeans leg up to apply bepanthen. Nor do they comment on having nappy cream on my desk lol -

Can feel skin tightening, you know that feeling right? That feeling that you KNOW it's going to be itchy season soon... Fuck! I hate this bit -

Woke up after sleeping on fresh tattoo, fuck it hurt! Up a few hours now and the pain is only starting to ease. No way to avoid it, as sleep on side but at least clean jammies that are taped down help. And continuing with the paracetamol before bed. It's really helping keeping the swelling down. -
@CABS yeah I get that a lot, exes saying they don't want me to get any more work done, which is why they are now exes. Even dating, rarely get passed the 1st date because of them. But fuck, it it's their problem. @Tornado6 I've a video game tattoo and I plan on getting more :) I love it so much. Still in bit of shock... A few minutes ago my mum asked me if I'd ever get the scars on my inner left forearm tattooed. I replied with, it's something I might consider, yes. She just nodded. Maybe she's starting to come around? In her own quiet way.

Parents aside, my tattoos have sparked interesting discussion about them during lunch and breaks in work. Most people like them and want to see them and hear of new work I'm getting done and found out a few who have one or two tattoos. They're curious about it and my coverage and why I keep getting tattooed. A civil, calm discussion about it is fine, I like that but not this whole "tattoos are disgusting and you'll regret it and no more about it" closed minded view, I can't abide. Besides the amount of people I've had say to me that I've changed their opinion of tattooed people/heavily tattooed is amazing. Yes, as I've said, I keep mine hidden from family (apart from tops of feet), but it is for an easy life. Am I ashamed of them? No. I keep them covered for work (no visible tattoo rule). They're hidden a lot of time, and honestly have had people say to me that they didn't realise I had so much coverage! At the end of the day, they're an extension of me. People will either love them or hate them. As children we strive to get praise from our parents. When we're told by them that we are disgusting and ruining our bodies, yes it does hurt. It fucking hurts deep. But I can see it from their point of view, they still look out for us. I'll be 39 next month and am still considered "their baby girl". It's part of life, I just block their view out and don't tell them about my tattoos. Life is too short for hassle. I hope some of that made some sense!

HURTS LIKE FUCK!!! Remind me again why we do this to ourselves? Don't want to put people off getting tattooed where I got done, but I did bleed a lot getting tattooed and it was heavy work. But it will be worth it, just a little (ahem) discomfort then a lifetime of a beautiful image on my body. So yeah to answer my question, because like the L'Oréal ad, "i'm worth it" -
Angel Tyrael with Giger wings. Angel Tyrael healed, wings fresh. Tattooed by Tommygunn, Belfast City Skinworks, Belfast. I am beyond happy with it :) Next session in May 2015.

Since, I've been getting tattooed again. It's always first appointment. Breakfast is glass of orange juice, cheese omelette and cup of black coffee. Have my usual route that I walk to tattooists (am very much OCD about this). Stop off for black coffee in Costa along the way. Usually arrive stupid early, he's usually not in yet. So sit and wait and make craic with the other tattooists while I'm waiting. Usually get some mineral while I wait/during a break. Post tattoo, stop off in build a bear on way back. Get taxi to fave pub. Show off shiney new tattoo still in new packaging. Get usual pizza and black coffee and more mineral. Rest newly tattooed leg on stools. Usually curse going into pub, it's a basement pub and stairs are evil when new leg tattoo. Curse going back up them. Hobble to hotel to sort out new tattoo and either sit in hotel library or bar for rest of evening. May wander back to fave pub.

Yeah, I find that leg tattoos seem to itch more. For me usually 3days in week2, I have the "I WANT TO SCRATCH MY LEG UNTIL IT BLEEDS" stage. And, yes that was meant to be in caps. But after that am fine. Takes 2weeks for mine to heal. You're getting there. Nearly over now... until the next time ;) -
Would be interested to hear how you get on with this, as I've one planned in same area but for the future. Though I'm hoping to get top of boobs tattooed, can be seen when in a dress. I was going to wear a dress, they're all pretty much low cut on me, big boobs and all. And just pull bra straps and dress straps down. Then when tattoo done, just pull dress straps up. They're ribbon straps so should be no problem. Hadn't thought beyond that. I mostly sleep on side, sometimes on back. Was thinking of putting dressing on it, at night to stop scratching in sleep. Let me know how you get on and what you find works.
