  2. My leg tattoo got infected, unfortunately. That was a few months ago, and it has healed very well, with only very minimal color loss in a dime-size area. I took pics daily to assess whether things were progressing well, or regressing, and going through them now I thought they showed the healing stages quite well, so I decided to post them in case anyone is curious (or likes gross pictures). First two are before antibiotics (oral), last set shows progress (left to right) from day 1 to day 9. You can't tell from the pictures but the infection was deep and it felt like a golf ball under the skin. I suspect the infection was from my dog jumping on me on day 2 or 3, despite all the precautions to prevent it.

  3. Yup. The final absorbsion takes many months. I think my spacing between sessions was about 4-6 weeks.

  4. Finished with Mike and finally got to posting it. Super stoked on how it came out and how easy it was to get lines and shading in one session and color the next.

    (HELP!) Tattoo Appenticeship

Yep. You can work towards what you want potentially for an extra year - or you can wait and see if someone else might want to offer that edge . . . however that may take more than a year, too.

IMO you have to do what it takes with what you have to work with if you want to stay in the business. If you have to start where this new shop wants you to then I would do it,apprenticeship offers don't come along all the time.

    Having anxiety

It’s awesome. What you’re feeling is pretty common for a first huge piece or first visible piece. I get it every time with hand and neck tattoos. You’ll adjust to the change in your appearance and start to love it, before almost forgetting you even have it. And it looks cool as shit

  10. First, no chemicals are going to lighten the tattoo. If such a thing existed there would be no laser industry. Second, if someone wanted to start working in on a tattoo that's a cover-up of a cover-up after only 4-6 weeks old I'd find someone else. You say you're not in a hurry, but this coverup isn't even healed and you're looking at monkeying with it again and you are setting a one year time line for finishing your sleeve. Each time you get a tattoo, scar tissue forms as part of the healing process. This will be the FOURTH time you're working that skin. You don't want to hear it, but that skin needs to really heal and it's going to take time to see how much the tattoo lightens up. If you just jump right into this you'll be back on here in a year asking how to fix the cover-up of the cover-up of the cover-up of the bad tattoo.
