    1) I don't think so. 2) If you don't know what you want then you don't know if you have a good artist. I've seen people that are fantastic with Japanese style that are not so good at other things. If you don't know what you want, you don't know if the artist is any good at it and so you don't know if you have a good artist. 3) Yes. You seem fixated on this artist. That's a recipe for disaster.

Step one - narrow down the style. Do you want Japanese, Traditional American, Realism, New School? Step two - find an artist that specializes in that style. Step three - ask for a consultation. Be open minded. I went in for a Kokopelli and wound up with a Japanese sleeve. Now I'm 3/4 of the way through a Japanese body suit.

If you don't know what you want, it's probably not a good idea to get a tattoo. You'll be posting on here after you get it about not being happy with it and pissed at the artist for not knowing what you wanted. I don't think it's a good idea to swing for the fence on your first tattoo. For your first, get something small and generic. Learn that process and see if this artist is really all you think they are. If all goes well, then start planning the "one you've always wanted." Jumping before you're really ready is just going to result in you coming on here and asking about lasers and cover ups.

Unless all of your images have the same theme, I would stay away from using you back to display them. The big first decision is if you want all these ideas to be depicted in the same style.

Welcome! My suggestion would be to consider getting these as separate tattoos. It really depends on what your memories are, and if they can be distilled into objects that will evoke those specific memories.

It looks crooked to me. I'd be concerned how all those fine lines and tiny details will age. Having said that, it still looks good.

Here’s my progress so far on my sleeve from Bobby Cupparo @ LOVEMACHINE N.Y.C. We’re about 25 hours in so far - I think we’ve roughly got about that left before the project is finished. I had (and have) ink fallout from black inks so my blacks usually need some touching up. The lionness was the first piece of the sleeve to be worked on, and was recently worked on this past Saturday. The mandrill is a few months finished at this point. Everything usually gets touched up a slight bit going into each session to address problem areas.

    First Tattoo Aftercare

I travelled cross country for a family visit and to teach a ton of hot yoga classes. I’m a heavy sweater and didn’t want to risk getting any germs in it from the mat, so he suggested saniderm to protect it.

  16. Thanks, everyone for your reassurance! I don’t know why I was worried lately. 🙂

  17. I agree, I think you've got a great looking collection. No reason to worry about placement at this point. You've plenty of room for others that will pull the look together and spots for little jammers. Relax and enjoy them.
