  1. There is nothing so innocuous that it can't be deemed offensive by someone.

  2. Indeed, @Dan. That symbol was used a lot in the car culture back then, too.

    Hello!

New member here at last sparrow, but long time lurker. Im a Bay Area native and just recently moved to Beaverton, Oregon. I’ve been collecting for 11 years now and finally decided to come aboard and join the community. I’ve been researching some shops and artists out here but I haven’t taken the plunge in getting tattooed yet unfortunately. I love traditional and neo traditional and I have my legs and back to finish. Does anyone have any recommendations for artists and shops ? Thanks guys! 🤘

  4. There are many symbols that originally meant one thing and have been bastardized over the years. The iron cross was a German military medal going back to Napoleon's time, may even have a history before that. The Nazis, white supremacists and outlaw bikers have ruined since then. I remember going to a car show with my older brother and sister in law when I was probably 6 or 7. I bought a small iron cross and thought it was the coolest thing ever.

  5. Yeah, the amount of scabbing does not necessarily relate to the need for or quantity of touchups. I've had some deep scabbing that came out just fine.

  6. I have this,I call it a surfer cross,it is representative of the surfing/skateboarding lifestyle I grew up in during the 60's in southern California. if it's offensive to someone then oh well,as @Hogrider said, there will always be somebody offended by something. nobody has ever commented on it in a negative way, actually a few people have thought it was a religious cross.

  7. Last week artist said to use some Bactine because it was super red and swollen. I only used it a couple times. Few days later he said to start using aquaphor on it. Couple days ago he said to use less ointment. So Ive been pretty much just dry healing since 2 days ago. It's not infected, as far as I know. Doesn't really hurt and isn't hot or anything. I think it's just severely scabbed. I'm mostly worried about heavy scaring to the point where it would be very difficult to touch up. Is that possible? I went to a local shop near me for advice because I went out of state for the tattoo and can't physically go in the shop. I've been texting the artist though. But I wanted someone to see it in person, so thats the main reason why I went to a different shop for an opinion.
