  1. This is a tattoo I have on my leg which was done 22 years ago. It looked completely legible at the time. Now the black mass of hair and the face have become quite obscured. The one redeeming factor with time is that the ink tends to fade a bit in intensity, which means the option for a touch up after a good chunk of time can help remedy an old tattoo. I may one day get this one reworked with more whites to help create better separations. But ultimately it was a bad design choice. I thought maybe sharing an aged tattoo with lots of black could help this thread.

  2. Putting that tattoo on you without warning you what was going to happen is just wrong. I wouldn't go back to that shop. Everybody's skin is different; there is no way to tell if it will last one year, three years or ten years. Enjoy the tattoo right now. There is NOTHING you can do now anyway. And forget about learning to tattoo.

Hairy tattoos have their own awesome aesthetic.

I scheduled a consultation with Melissa Manuel from Humble Beginnings in San Jose to get a Filipino-inspired tribal collar piece. The consultation isn't until April 29th. Hooray for links!

  6. Great minds think alike. I was looking at it thinking, "When that goes south, time for a panther."

  7. Yeah, even if you went into the shop and said "I want a photorealistic typewriter but only 2 inches square" a proper artist (and certainly shop owner) should have said "that's not going to age well".

  9. Just because he was the owner doesn't mean he is a great tattoo artist. Don't get any more tattoos from that guy. Do more research. As @Hogrider said, you can't do anything about it now. Just enjoy it for now, and quit worrying about it. Nothing will fix it now other than a ginormous cover up of a black panther.

    Hi!

No way to know until you ask. I'm lucky, I have sparse, light hair, but if I was as hairy as a gorilla, I still wouldn't shave.

    Hi!

You don't have to shave it after you get it tattooed. Just leave it and live with it.

    helloooo, need some advice

let it heal for 3 months before you take too close a look at it, THEN maybe you could get a touch-up if needed. for now, keep Aveeno on it daily, enjoy it, and start planning your next bad ass tattoo. and stop looking at it with a microscope ! it looks fine.
