    Quick Hello and a Question

Just my opinion, but I think this is a terrible idea. The wrist area is really prone to blowouts. I think you'll wind up with a muddy mess. No reflection on your artist, I wouldn't let anyone put that on me.

  2. Firstly, listen to your artist. They may have not done anything like this, but I assume that they've done plenty of other tattoos and know what will work. I can see that not holding up well over time. Also I doubt there would be much you could not later to touch it up or cover it. If it were me, I'd consider doing the negative of what your pic shows... the lines being tattooed in black. It would be just as recognizable and I'd think that the lines would be able to be darkened at a later day when they fade. Just a thought. Also, welcome.

  4. Browsing around the board just now, I was struck by how often folks asking questions about tattoos they want to get or tattoos they have gotten end up getting similar responses, as their issues often correspond to a fairly narrow set that come up again and again. I thought it could be cool to have a thread where we list our generally accepted "tattoo advice" and wisdom in one centralized location. We could point people to it when appropriate. For example: 1. Thou shalt never haggle in a tattoo shop. 2. Thou shalt not try to force a tattooer to tattoo an exact replica of an image you've brought in. If you are going to a skilled tattooer, you will always be better off letting them turn your idea into an actual tattoo design that will work for this medium. 3. Thou shalt consult with your tattooer for questions re: design, sizing, placement, ideas, aftercare instructions and any touch-ups. 4. Thou shalt not stress about how your new tattoo looks until it is fully healed. 5. Thou shalt accept that flaking, scabbing, swelling, itching, and a whole bunch of other uncomfortable stuff is all totally normal when healing a tattoo. Thou shalt only be concerned if it doesn't get better after weeks, or if it smells or looks infected. Next?

    New Here w/First Tattoo

Just my 2 cents, but rather than just add something, think about where you want to go with your leg and think about it as an overall project. Otherwise, you could wind up adding something that could limit what you want to do down the line.

    Quick Hello and a Question

There are artists who are experimenting with white ink over black ink, but it's definitely not a "clean" look. More of a last resort kind of option for cover jobs, etc.

    Blowout or just healing

Maybe have a sticky post at the top of the initiation board that has the top FAQ for healing/blowout/regret... @SStu

  10. Because this thread needs to be bumped. If thy hate thy first tattoo, thou shall not freak out. Thou shall wait at least three months before making any decisions on cover-ups, laser or additional tattoos.
