  1. FWIW, I think the design has too much detail to count as "minimalist". But don't worry that the stars don't look the same, there are many different types of stars! (And I'm writing this at a meeting of the International Astronomical Union in Vienna...)

  2. This depends entirely on the ability/quality of the artist. Minimalism dramatically narrows the margin for error, so it's going to be extra important for you to proceed both with caution and educated. Both of the recommendations @Dan gave you are legit, but you're going to have to be patient to get in with quality artists.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

Picked up this dog rose from Cassandra Frances when I was in London a little over a week ago: I was nervous about what the dry air on an eight hour flight back home the next day would do to it. I originally planned to re-wrap at my artist’s recommendation, but when our first flight got cancelled and I didn’t want to struggle to A) try to wash it in an airport bathroom or B) leave it wrapped for 24 hours, I just put a little Aquaphor on it as usual and this has been one of my easiest heals so far. No stinging when I wash, swelling was gone within a day, no scabs.

    Finished sleeve

Finished the entire arm, took a little under a year and a half. One last touch-up on everything to clean it up. Unfortunately, my artist is moving 5 hours away in July. Feel free to leave any comments or criticism.

  5. Looks ok, but leave it alone. Never let a fresh tattoo get wet enough for scabs to get anywhere close to being soft. I don't see any real need for antibiotics, but personally I shy away from anything that keeps a dry wound moist.

Just got this crazy watercolor portrait of Courtney Love done by Smel Wink @ Requiem Tattoo in Victoria Australia. Sat around 6 hours, pretty bloody stoked with how it turned out.

Got a shark on my leg from Matt Howse at Idle Hand, and the next day my brother got a similar shark on his right shoulder. Matt's sharks are the best, and he's a great guy. Turns out we went to the same high school. What are the odds?

Got this little Keith Haring fella today from an artist named Erik at a shop near me. He was the victim of a hate crime, and I wanted to support his return to work (His wrist was badly injured, and he couldn't work for over a month.) It's tiny. I like him.
