Booked in with Chad Koeplinger when he’s guesting in Oslo, Norway in September. Super excited! Getting tattooed by him has been on my wish-list for years.

Grez always squeezes in as many people as he can, even if he tattoos in his hotel room before or after. That's great that you got in. I can't even count how many Grez talons I have at this point, and it was always a Portlandia reference between me and my best friend that we'd tag things "#putabirdfootonit." I can understand it not being exactly what you wanted/expected, but it's not bad at all. Well done and fits with the other work on your arm. I'd mark it up to life, enjoy it as is and if you still want one like your reference, find a different artist and have it put someplace else. Nothing wrong with double dragons.

Based on that reference and what you got I think you were asking the wrong artist to do that style. Its also a bunch of thick bold B&G trad pieces around it. All things considered I think that the person did a good job of putting something in theme for your arm, it has a simple folk kind of american traditional vibe. Personally based on the reference if you want small details then you need to get a big tattoo not a small arm banger, your reference is detailed to be a whole thigh or chest even.

I will camp in front of Dan's booth all Friday until I get tattooed. He's my second favorite tattooer probably (Marius is my favorite). Would love to fill out this weird spot in my left knee ditch with a spider demon crawling out of some webs going upward. Also looking to get a walk-up with Mike Wilson!

I don't see how this conversation is healthy or positive. The intent of this forum doesn't support your desire to tattoo as a hobby. Why be antagonistic? You can share your tattoo and love of them here but as mentioned, the THIS forum discourages what you are doing. There are plenty of other places that will support your interest in learning how to tattoo. Share your tattoos and/or experiences but please don't be disruptive just for the sake of being disruptive.

Blow-outs happen and there is nothing you can do to fix them. Tattoos take 4 - 6 weeks to fully heal; you'll know what it's going to look like then. No tattoo is perfect. Enjoy the big picture, don't sweat the details.
