    Upcoming Tattoos

So my wife and I are going to New York City next weekend for a long child free weekend and this morning I was a little bored and got to thinking and next thing you know I called Smith Street and made us each an appointment. We plan to just walk in and pick something off the wall. I gotta tell you- we are both looking forward to it.

  5. Got this done on 17th April. It is Cydaea, the Maiden of Lust from Diablo tattooed on my left knee. Tattooed by Tommygunn in Belfast City Skinworks in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I pretty much slept through it all. Fresh pic, taken by tattooist.

  6. @SStu It was my first ditch tattoo. The healing worse than getting the tattoo. Oy vey....way tender.

  8. @bongsau YES. It's incredibly vital that your tattoo history not be lost, if you want to share it. Our tattoo's are living history...emphasis on "living". When you go, they go (generally). Your story is part of the folklore of tattooing.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

image from Steve's Instagram of my new baby. That man FLIES through tattoos and is the largest man I've met in my whole life. Sweet as a peach, warm, intelligent, socialite at the convention and artistic and brilliant (in my opinion)

  15. Drove down to Allstar in Limerick for around midday. I had a quick breakfast first and then threw the car on cruise control for the motorway trip down (takes around two hours from Dublin). There's nothing quite like the sensation of speeding down the country knowing that you're on your way to get some (hopefully) world-class tattoos when you actually should be working for The Man and watching the clock hands tick by. Allstar was the same as when I was there the previous week: Full of guest artists and with a great atmosphere as a result. To be honest I recommend anyone to go there and get tattooed by Ross or one of his guys at any time: You'll enjoy looking at the amazing flash and art collection on the walls if nothing else. Everything from Smith Street / Frank Carter / Nick Colella sheets to one-off signed pieces by many of the greats. Fortified with a large americano I ended up getting tattooed by Chad first, who rapidly elected to do one of the two ideas I had come with: A rock of ages on the back of my leg. I gave him a free hand and you can see the results further down my post. I'm super pleased with this, I feel like he got all of the elements I like about the ROA motif and managed to somehow get them into a leg piece without having it feel crammed. Next up was Oliver Peck, rubbing his hands and querying what I wanted on my other foot (he had tattooed a panther head on the other one the year before). I had originally thought a matching cat head, but he pointed out that really so long as it was the same size I could get something else if I wanted. Taking the hint, I mentioned that I'd always wanted an anvil tattoo, and suggested putting that over some flowers. We chucked around some other ideas, but he seemed stoked to do the anvil so in no time at all I was in the chair for the second time and getting zapped once more. The mismatched size of the images in this post reflects my complete lack of technological know-how, sorry. I tried to get my own photo of the ROA but I practically pulled a muscle trying to get a decent shot of the back of my leg. As a result I've stolen the pic Chad put up on instagram, which is not ideal, but hey - at least it's my leg, right? It's just a pity my calves are so skinny... Years of squatting and you wouldn't know to look. I heard Arnold Schwarzenegger had the same problem in his early days.

  17. I don't think I posted this new one I picked up from Greg Christian at Chris Nuñez's new shop, Handcrafted Miami just after New Years: Super excited for South Florida to have this new shop, which is beautiful. They're bringing in a lot of big name guys, which we don't often get here. Chad Koeplinger visited a few weeks after I got the moth and I was kicking myself for not having the budget to get something. But, I did book in with Heath Nock for June. (Holy shit that is a long ways away!) Getting a gator head with a Florida banner.

  26. It's still pretty swollen, so the pictures are a little crappy, but my Banshee is finally finished!! (dislocated joints and tattoos don't go well together) I waited as long as I could for it to heal, sucker still gave me some problems at certain angles, but its done! Also did a Stencil of the chest piece we're gonna start after January :) She's gonna play with it a little to make things line up and flow together. So I'll post that picture (sorry it's instagram quality ;-p

  32. I'll try to put together a good photo with the newest additions, it's hard to take a decent looking picture of it because it wraps around my arm, though here's a picture of it from Seth's blog from when it was first finished about a year ago: Seth Wood Tattoo - - - Updated - - - I have a couple of tattoos from Ron and, yes, his tattoos are amazing...like "holy fuck, I can't believe he did that" amazing, especially with some of the negative space tattoos, and he's all around a really awesome dude to get tattooed by. I highly recommend the experience.

  34. Just got this today from Johnny Bones at Full Circle Tattoo in San Diego, CA. Edit: I'd be remiss if I didn't mention how goddamn classy Full Circle is. They accommodated a rigid schedule for me (I jumped on an airplane an hour after this) and Johnny knocked out a nice little memento under pressure. The shop itself is gorgeous and their crew were nice as can be. Johnny Bones has been guesting there for a few weeks. He works at Mi Familia in Anaheim. He's pretty killer.

  35. It's a very fresh photo.....and not even a good one....but I had Dana Helmuth tattoo me this past Saturday at Read Street Tattoo and he decided to add a dragon head and claw in the area I had saved for him! :)

  36. Went into CTC last night to get my friend's daughter a new tattoo, Nick gave her a beautifully-done Phụng! And since I'm a well-known ink-whore who just couldn't drive all that way and come home bare-skinned, he drew me up a lil filler...pardon the lousy cellphone shot.

  38. Got this off Chad Koeplinger at the London convention on friday, I'm proper made up with it! Any one got any advice on healing inner bicep tattoos though? inside of my bicep is black and blue now it hurts like a bitch :D (pic pinched off chads instagram) I got a amazing Butterfly girl head off Paul Dobleman too but didn't get a pic at the time and its a bit too scabby to take one now, had loads of people come up ask me about it on the day!

  39. Just back from two days under the needle. The artist was Ching, from Taiwan (as you can probably see from his watermarking of the photos). He's guesting at White Dragon Tattoo in Belfast along with his buddy Yang. Got to do the left arm when they come back next year... photo hosting photo hosting Overall a not bad couple of days. The outline and black background was relatively straightforward (on Monday). Yesterday ended up taking 7-8 hours, I think underestimated how much detail was involved in the buddha and hannya details.
