    Day 5

Wash it a couple of times a day with something gentle/fragrance free (I use Gold Dial soap). Pat or let air dry. Lightly moisturize (again fragrance free) a few time a day. Emphasis on lightly. No swimming, hot tubs or the like for at least 14 days. Don't pick at *any* skin or scabs. :)

    Day 5

My first couple of tattoos I had a very strict and detailed schedule of aftercare. Now with 200+ hours under the needle I am more of a minimalist. I can't help you with the bra strap dilemma, but I just avoid wearing skin tight clothes for the first week. In day 5 I only shower/wash the tattoo once a day and moisturize it with cocoa butter when I get up and when I go to bed. Your body will heal itself unless you really screw up badly.

    Day 5

Don't stress about it. Wash it once or twice a day or after workouts then cream it up lightly afterwards if it's crazy dry in the day maybe put a little on then my latest addition is at the same stage but it's all red which seems to heal a little rougher than black for me. If you need a touch up so be it, I can already tell the very point of my elbow needs one (probably my fault though I prop myself up on it).

    Help!!!

I don't think the rubbing caused the peeling, it's probably a coincidence. I usually start peeling around day 4. It might have hurt because you were pulling on the scabs, and also the skin underneath is usually extra sensitive as it's peeling. Worst case scenario, you need a touch up, but you're probably fine. Let it finish healing and look for damage after a couple months or so.

    Help!!!

In the hair? It looks like normal peeling to me. Try not to pull those larger parts off. You could take ink out with them.

  11. I agree, I loved Chad's comment. I didn't actually tell Steve anything specific and I didn't really do anything except sit there while he drew it on and when he said he was ready I said okay....I just trusted him. it was the first time I didn't have a specific image or flash for reference.

  14. I've separated my tattoos into body sections too. I'm really happy to know I'm not the only person who has divided everything up to have its own spot. Killer work too.

    Tipping Question

I sit well. I tip well. I don’t bring drama. You know what that gets me? Back in! I’ve had artists come in hours before the shop opens, stay late and fit me into their otherwise insanely booked schedules. I’m basically commissioning a piece of art from them for every tattoo. I am more than happy to tip!

  19. so what ? why is that an issue here ? what is the problem with someone asking a question ? what about new members ? or people that don't come here everyday ? I've been here 3 years and have not seen a thread about this topic.even if it has been asked multiple times, new input or reminders or new ideas are always good IMO.

    Tipping Question

I'm an Australian in Australia. My artists charge $180 an hour. I make $35 an hour. I don't tip.

  22. I just got my first tattoo, and I didn't even know that tattoo artists customarily got tipped here until someone mentioned it here. Then, the guy who actually did my tattoo was British. And I'm pretty sure he'd been here for awhile, but he seemed a bit startled that I tipped him. Just a completely awkward experience there. More so since I do most things awkwardly.

    Kids Names Tattoo

Can I suggest finding a tattooer who does really nice script and just getting their names done simply and beautifully? I don't really understand all the posts above suggesting the necessity of finding a representative image here: it's your child's name, it has way more potent symbolism on its own than any design you could think of.

  24. I second Descendent. I personally would get a tattoo of something that represents my kid as opposed to just text with a random image. Both of my sisters have tattoos of my nieces/nephews names and they're awful. Might be an unpopular opinion but I've never seen a name tattoo that made me go "Wow thats awesome"

  25. This is the 'bad tattoos' sub forum however, so this is the correct place for such a thread. ;)
