Full Back Piece Experience Thread
rdinak and one other reacted to thewitchhunter for a topic
As 2017 is ending soon I'll post a final pic of the progress we made on my dragon backpiece this year. First session was march 31st, 7 sessions overall with about 22 to 25h so far. Probably won't be able to keep that pace up in 2018, but let's see how it will turn out... Best wishes and happy new year to everyone2 points -
*If* you decide to go to NYC I'll of course recommend Takashi Matsuba at Behind the Circle.2 points

How can I avoid tattoo peeling?
Devious6 and one other reacted to Gingerninja for a topic
This is going to sound harsh... So, tattoo's peel - that's part of the healing process. And never, ever, ever pick at a tattoo. You most likely pulled out the ink. Did you get any aftercare instructions? Follow them.2 points -
Baltimore folks - help me decide!
scottyg reacted to Gingerninja for a topic
So many great choices depending upon what style and how bold you would like to go! Agree with @ScottyG 's recommendation. :) My NYC laundry list: RG, Garver, Rubendall, Kiku, Beckerich and O'Donnell. My international list is long but I really want a flower from Claudia this year...1 point -

Sometimes we get untattooed!
Gingerninja reacted to cfmartin67 for a topic
It’s not horrible, but I did get some shots of lidocaine and that really sucked!1 point -
you don't want to avoid peeling or pick at it, most tattoos will 'fall out" on the sides of fingers like that, especially scratcher garage tattoos like that. and like was said, peeling is a normal and good part of tattoo healing.Let it peel.1 point

It's sad to see happen anywhere, but not surprising. It happens in every walk of life, every profession, so there's no reason to think that tattoo artists are immune to it. Some may find it barbaric, but I believe in the old fashion ways. If that type of thing happened years ago, the woman's father, brothers, uncles, etc. would impress upon the over-sexed prick the error of his ways and explain why it wouldn't happen again. Of course today you can't do such things. When my wife and I got married MY dad told my wife that I if I ever laid a hand to her just to let him know and he'd take care of it... and he would have.1 point

In that area = including but not in any way limited to Matt Black, Anka Lavriv, John Sultana, Ivan Barbosa, Angela De Rosette and Anderson Luna. Any one of them also are capable or reproducing that style (if they have an interest to do so).1 point

No photo but I got a kickass crawling panther from Moses at Black Heart a few weeks ago. There's a photo on the shop instagram account. Panthers are awesome.1 point -
Ointment every three or four hours???? Waaaaaaay too much. Once or twice a day with just a touch of cocoa butter should be adequate. And for a tattoo that small, a dot should be adequate. As for antibiotic cream, the only rough heal I've ever had in 30+ sessions was when I used antibiotic cream.1 point

Boiled Dove reacted to JAC1961 for a topic
Really stoked. I had a consultation on Tuesday for my second tattoo at Enso Tattoo in Columbus, OH. Went great, really looking forward to it. He said he prefers to keep sessions to 3 to 4 hours and that mine will be 2 or 3 sessions. From what I've read, my artist is no nonsense and puts in a good hours work. Waiting to hear back for my first appt. It's going to be a color half sleeve asian tiger on my left arm. Below is the reference print I gave. Looking forward to posting pics of the progress.1 point -
Deep scab normal or not?
oboogie reacted to Boiled Dove for a topic
I agree with @Hogrider nothing to do but let it heal. I've had a couple of tattoos scab like that. They were both done by very experienced and and well known tattooers to the people on this board. Sometimes shit happens. I would expect a good bit of pigment to fall out with the scab but that can always be touched up or left to look even more unique.1 point -

Got this nugget in Seoul, South Korea. Done by an artist with the instagram handle @Yuuztattooer. Took about 5 hours to complete. Doesn't speak much english, and I specifically went to Seoul to get a tattoo by him (I tacked on this special trip while in Hong Kong). Quite the experience, traveling to a foreign country I have never been to before. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Enjoy!1 point -

I got my first tattoo last month at age 67. I didn't expect my mom to be thrilled, but I was disappointed with how negatively she reacted when I sent her a photo of my panda. I realize that she's part of a generation in which "nice" people, especially nice girls, didn't have tattoos. When I went to visit her a couple of weeks ago, she looked at my arm briefly and said "Oh." That was all--just a disapproving "Oh". She finally said that she guessed one tattoo was okay. I got my second tattoo last week, and I've booked several more appointments with my artist (it's true what they say about tattoo addiction). Lol. Fortunately friends have been very supportive of my tattoos. Family, not so much1 point
