so my wife said for my birthday present she would pay for today's little Friday the 13th tattoo and next week's Oni from Greg Christian at the SF show. today is my birthday. :) (10/13)

so I changed plans for today's tattoo,I got this little Friday the 13th black widow, and for my birthday which is today too. (10/13) artist Shannon o'Keefe at Fat Cat tattoo in Carmichael Cal.

I just had a surprise surgery on Sunday and I was very quickly known by all the nurses as the guy with all the colorful tattoos.

Hey - nice tattoo. Who is your artist? My two cents: first, don't rewrap it...you are creating a breeding ground for nasty stuff to grow. Keep it clean (wash twice a day, three if you are sweaty/dirty) with antibacterial soap and keep it lightly moisturized. IMO, too soon for coca butter. Use something light like Lubriderm or Aveeno. Remember that you are caring for an open wound. I start back after a couple of days. Always mindful that I have a fresh tattoo and minimize any rubbing/pressing/sweating for 14 days.

I am a history buff and a bit of a rebel from way back. Went against the current tide and got a Confederate flag. It does not show it under a short sleeve shirt. Some of my ink is for me and no one else. On the other hand...if my dragon half sleeve peaks out from my shirt I have great pride and will give you my artist card.

@pidjones thanks for your advice, but I am on anti-sickness medication all the time and I take an extra one before travelling. I was just trying to say more on the emphasis of staying over after a tattoo, than the travel sickness part of things. Especially since I get large tattoos, I find it is less of a shock on the system.

Brand new shoulderblade piece, 4 days old. Inspired by the cedar waxwing, my favorite bird, and my grandma's pansies (she would have been 120 years old on Friday!) Yesterday they had a goodbye luncheon for a couple of us that are being laid off. This is awesome, because we were both planning to retire! Saved 2 jobs, got severance pay and Cobra, and in 6 months we can go back to consult if they need us. Gave us both remembrances that say "Beam Off". I'm starting a battle royale back piece tomorrow, not my whole back since my shoulders already have work on them. The size is 13" x 13" and hopefully I'll get it lined and partially shaded. The artist made up a composite with the design pasted onto my back.

Had my second session a couple of days ago. I was in horrible shape going into this session, with stiches in my head, a concussion and generally fatigued. But "the stoke" pulled med through.

Healing a whole load of bum-work, and back of thigh work. Not happy. Sitting, bending over, crouching, walking, all less fun than usual. All in all a right pain in the arse (sigh).

Awesome thread-My parents are in their 80's. Father is a very conservative Baptist minister. My mom was always cool. When I got my first ink a long time ago, it was never an issue. I respect my parents even though I am 56. At my age its cool if my ink peaks out from under my short sleeve shirt. LOL You know it's good when your mom knows you wear a confederate flag and she smiles. My Niece thinks I am crazy..just a generational thing I guess
