  1. I only have one side done, so far & just a few hours, bet the other side will be the killer! I do have a health problem causing massive pain though so tattoos never get as bad as that, yet. I also have extra meat on the bones which must help a bit, tho not with the ankle! 4hrs is a good length of time lol I always think good job I don't want my throat done as i'd have to not talk I guess!

  2. @Boiled Dove Hahaha...I always recruit people to Tegaderm me. I now have my "regulars" who laugh at me (I buy them drinks or dinner which seems to help). Even with the derm, my last few have healed scabbier and slower. Thankfully, I just had bloodwork done so I know that at least the heal isn't something else. Your torch by Chad is amazing!!

  3. Same here. I bought a box of Saniderm to use at Pagoda but it didn't come in time. I tried to use it on the torch from Chad but trying to apply Saniderm on your right forearm, alone, when you are right handed is kinda difficult. It is still a little scabby. Seems like healing is taking a little longer these days as well.

  4. Hey folks, I'm Samantha. Everyone calls me Sam, so that's my default. I've browsed this forum before, usually to look at insight about different methods of healing. Got my first ink on my 25th birthday in 1989. But most of what I now wear happened after my 50th birthday a few years ago. I call my current count 21 tattoos. I tat around. I like that artists refer to someone like myself who wears various artists work as a Tattoo Collector. I love conventions. I'm not ashamed of the fact that Ink Master is one of my favorite tv indulgences. I'm in the South Jersey area, Philadelphia adjacent.

  6. @UKMisfit3 Fingers crossed that you continue to have (mostly) pain-free experiences. How big are your rib piece(s)? Multiple sessions? My ribs only bothered me for the last 30 minutes of my sessions which were (2) fours on the left and (1) four hour on the right. Those last 30 minutes were excruciating.

  7. I don't know what's up with my body but the last couple of tattoos have scabbed like never before. The back of my thigh is healing albeit a lot slower than other places. It's driving me batty! It's not itchy just scabby..

  8. I'd love to see some! I've been getting tattooed for so long now I don't even notice them, tho a French speaking girl kept looking at my arm earlier but she didn't speak . . at least she didn't see my French quote xd I've not found anyone to make any comments or ask me anything but do they hurt, so you might not even have anyone bother you. I love the reply about if they embarrass the kids . . plus chances are the kids may be trying to get their own when old enough! I hope you will feel ok wearing your normal clothes, I almost always have my forearms bare so had them tattooed so I get to look at them lots, they usually just attract tattoo fans, never negativity . . fingers crossed they'll soon feel a part of you!

  10. So it's now been almost two weeks since I got my first tattoos ... and I am now starting to love them. :-) Nobody at work yet even knows I have them. But today I was at my desk and reached up and I caught a glimpse of my arm one and I thought "COOL". I love that I have these two gorgeous images (that represent my gorgeous kids) and they are my little secret. Some people will know and some people will never know. But they make me really happy! Thanks for reassuring me. :-)

    DEATH

I like this topic man. I don't see myself as an overly morbid creature, but I'm probably more interested in the occult than the average person is. This has alot to do with the music I listen to, I admit (metal, and black metal especially). But I'm also a devoted atheist - I believe organized religion is the root of all evil in this world. So I really wanna get a tattoo inspired by the occult, but I'm afraid that may be crossing a line or whatever. I mean, the Baphomet on your upper arm or a burning cross on your leg, people are bound to brand you a lunatic. I'm getting my forearm done soon, and it will be a portrait of one of the old godesses in norse religion. I did consider Hel, the queen of the underworld, but maybe that too is a bit too much on the dark side?

  12. My one tattoo that I don't love (in process of laser reduction to redo) was one that I had put a lot of thought, research, even buying line and taking photos to make examples for the artist. He did a crap job on me. Seemed like he didn't care or was pissed or something. When I went back he was real defensive and ended up making it worse. The first laser blast looks to have removed most of his "fix", but I don't think I could ever get the deep blown lines from the first session out. I was reviewing some photos of what it looked like after that first session. I should have known not to go back (and this is a shop owner). Lesson learned: walk away if not 100% satisfied with the stencil, and if the tattoo doesn't look done well, don't expect the same guy to improve it!

    Feminism & Tattoos

You said yourself, "It may not be fair." I realize that's the way it is, all I'm saying is that it isn't fair and I'm not going to let it stop me from getting tattooed. I don't have to submit to their prejudices.
