    I need some advice

You're going to wear the result forever. Don't be in a hurry. Save up some $. Go up to Marquette (and/or a couple others) and visit the shop(s). See if they want to tackle such a project and what your options might be. If that were mine, I'd be willing to make 5-10 road trips to make it right. Anything less then a stellar tattooist is likely going to leave you with a bigger problem.

Thank you guys again for your advice! I really needed the prodding to feel ok about moving on. I had the consult last night which I felt good about and I will trek around to other places recommended on the forums here until I figure out how to make this piece better. Plus I will likely pick up on how to better vet out an artist along the way. I will also be poking around here for fun and learning.

    Touchup time frame

I have had 25 year old tattoos gone over and made fresh again. The minimum for a touch up would be 2-3 weeks depending on a few factors. My 2nd sessions are usually done after 2 weeks.

+1 on finding another artist. You wouldn't want a lifeguard who can't swim. Bit harsh maybe, but F*** it - forever is a long time.

    I need some advice

So I was able to get a consult with this guy tonight between tattoos. I mentioned that he worked in Miami and in NYC for several years before ending back here in Green Bay. I can see his work is solid and adequate not the best but able to work across styles. He said the stuff here is older but he isn't big on updating his portfolio these days. Thoughts? https://www.facebook.com/pg/SkinnyBuddhaTattoo/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1110580315651511 SStu- Marquette is about 3 hours from us- however I graduated from NMU there and love the area. I am always itching for a reason to get back. I can check them out. The online portfolios are simply awesome! I have some property in the Grand Marais, MI area (2 hours from Marquette) and have several days off up there towards the end of August. Perhaps a road trip is in order.

  12. Well, another session; this one was tough: down the left side. Ugh.

  13. It seems the key is to keep the area clean. If the area is clean and sealed then no MRSA or anything else nasty will get under or through it. It's used by most hospitals...

  14. i'm sure this helps about 0%, but you have my blessing! not many things can get between me and this convention. i'll try to be out there Saturday as well, but will know more as the time draws nearer. i'm always down to rest my weary legs up at the bar, in between walking the convention aisles. i'll definitely have pics to share afterwards as well. damn... all this talk is getting me antsy!
