There is a great deal of knowledge to be found here by people who are experienced in planning and getting tattoos. There are also some people who have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Keep that in mind, Missyblue, and enjoy your weekend! :-)4 points

Had my 3rd session yesterday. Turns out 2,5h/session is what I can bear until I tap out. So overall 7,5h so far. We did some linings on the lower back, over my butt down to the left thigh and some shading in the lower back area. I'm stocked with the progress so far, wouldn't have expected so much ink on my back in that short time. Hell, but the pain was so intense, especially around the kidneys and tailbone. Holy crap, that hurt! And I'm pretty aware that there is still a lot of work in those nasty areas. Scales, probably some shadings, colors... Hopefully next session we'll just add details to the tail and maybe start the Koi on the right thight/butt cheek...3 points -
LOL , I don't see anyone bullying anyone here. remember you only get back what you put out. Maybe if you had started out here with a more friendly vibe, you would have gotten that back in return.2 points

Hi LST! Long time lurker but just recently finally joined. Just wanted to say thanks for such a vast wealth of tattoo knowledge all in one location.1 point

@Dan, the best part is that he/she apparently doesn't know several people have his/her posts blocked (including me). Can't even see what he posts. Only thing it doesn't block is when someone quotes. We need to get that fixed. Big love to you, Dan! ?1 point

Thanks everyone! It took 15 hours! Surprisingly, I think this one hurt more than my rib cages.1 point

I'm glad you and all the others agreed with me that it needed to pack a bit more punch. Hopefully when you go back in August, your artist can hook you up with more bold ness to truly represent your loves. Either way, you'll have a great before and even better after!1 point

OK I stand corrected, no tats here, just Tattoos , Got it ;) And thanks for the Tattoo suggestions I think it needs something just not sure what, I like the black paws idea. ANY OTHER suggestions very welcomed. And yes Gingerninja I have Aplastic Anemia, Remission since 2011ish, no marrow transplant due to no matches, I did it the old fashion way with Horse ATG and a LOT of transfusions.1 point

Think it's time to show you a pic of my back too. Had my second session yesterday, overall around 5h under the needle so far and still many more ahead... When it's done, it will be a full back dragon which goes down over my butt to my right thigh. The left thigh / butt cheek will include a koi swimming upwards. Planning to go for half or 3/4 sleeves and expand to the chest later too. Tattoo is done by Thomas Schehr @ Koerperkunst-Tattoo, Karlsruhe, Germany. Here is a pic he posted on his IG yesterday after the session:1 point -
Yesterday, I started my full back piece with Rei from Inkrat, Tokyo. Three-and-a-half hours of lining was pretty prickly in places - but some good blues music, a howling spring wind outside and the stoke got me through it unscathed. And there's something mindboggling about a Japanese tattooer doing an American old school interpretation of how a Japanese tattoo should look. Colours are coming in a few weeks and I'll update then, j1 point

slang terms that make you cringe?
JazzyMac reacted to Matthew Thomas for a topic
In some ways, that is true at times. But my previous post was not about that. I will choose for myself, whether wisely or unwisely, what to say, do, think, and feel, and I am responsible for what I choose. You may choose what to think, say, feel or do to me, but that is also your choice which you are responsible for. It is not my place to tell you how to choose, nor am I responsible for what you choose. I'm not attempting to get a rise out of anyone. I'm just saying, feel free to feel how you choose to feel about me, but own that choice. - - - Updated - - - With the exception of calling a machine a gun, who decides what terms are proper or correct? These are all words that to me, mean the same thing. Tattoo is one word that describes markings made on the body with ink. All the other terms that people use to describe them mean exactly the same thing. People call money different slang terms, but I don't see accountants getting all upset because I called a dollar bill a greenback, do you? And yes, tattooists do try to steer people away from tattoos that they don't think they will be happy with, but that's not the same as one person telling another what to think or say. You can ask members of a community to change something. Some will comply, others won't. It doesn't mean that the people who choose not to comply don't respect the community. It's just means that they think and choose for themselves.1 point -

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of me. However, acknowledgement of that entitlement does not imply any obligation on my part to rectify the opinions of others, nor does it imply that rectification of anyone's opinion is required. I have been called fat, stupid, ugly, cracker, bald-headed bastard, etc etc. None of these words mean anything to me, nor will they ever. I will describe the art on my body as I choose. Those who don't like it are free to feel how they choose to about it.1 point -
slang terms that make you cringe?
JazzyMac reacted to Matthew Thomas for a topic
Referring to a machine as a gun is more of a habit then anything. Grew up hearing it called that, have heard almost everyone I've ever known who has tattoos call it that and even a few tattooists, and I'm trying to break that habit. As far as the other terms, tattoo artists and people who have tattoos live in a world where conformity is akin to a mortal sin (at least in my mind), so why try to tell people what terms they are allowed to use to describe their art? You might as well tell them what tattoos to get (or not get). I'm not purposely rude or offensive unless someone is to me first, but I hardly see how the words I use to describe the art on my body is going to hurt anyone else, and if it is, grow a thicker skin. You can get through the pain of a tattoo, but catch feelings when you don't like the words another person uses to describe their art? I think we are being a little too sensitive to words here. I'm a non-conformist. I do, say, think and feel what I choose, not what someone else chooses for me.1 point -
what's it mean?
Illiad86 reacted to Genie of the West for a topic
We've all made the slightly unusual choice to embed words, symbols, and images onto our bodies until the day we die. It's barely accepted by the mainstream in liberal western countries let alone other cultures. People are going to be intrigued and ask questions just as much as they are going to be offended or mesmerized. That's part of being (visibly) tattooed. It annoys me sometimes too but hey it's part of the package.1 point -
That's because your back is weirdly sensitive. Ever asked someone to rub your shin? Nope. But back rubs are awesome because your back has a million sensitive spots, all of which feel super fucking awesome when getting tattooed, especially the lower back. You already know that tattoos hurt, and you seem to be acutely aware that the back will hurt, too. You also know that you're already on this path (didn't you just get your hand tattooed?) and that the back is the ultimate canvas. you just need to figure out what you're getting and who's gonna do it, although something tells me that you have more than a few ideas in mind. While I did find the process to be painful (and expensive), I have no regrets at all about doing it. It was so exciting to see it come together, session by session. There's something about having a full back piece. It's something that I've always admired, but for years, I didn't think I'd be able to make the physical/financial/mental commitment to go through with it myself. Completing it was a big milestone for me, and I have a beautiful souvenir of the experience that I get to wear for life.1 point
