    Love these tats!

If it helps, here's one of the first LST threads I ran across when researching tattoo culture, reading will help new folks understand some in-jokes of the forum, and why some terms are preferred: https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/t/674-slang-terms-that-make-you-cringe/ Also, if anyone happens to be interested in general tattoo vocabulary, here's one of the ones I like: http://www.inkedmag.com/tattoo-lingo/ Welcome! I go in for a 'touch up' August third. I love my new tattoo but I want it to be more bold, for lack of a better word. I think the Reason or representation of it is lost because the paws and shoes do not stand out. Does that make sense? I am so glad I found this page, reading the forums and looking at the gallery takes way too much of my time tho lol I hope all of you have a great day!

@missyblue Great news on the remission! In the end, as long as you love what you have it doesn't matter, right? Same goes for whatever you want to call it... I think that your design would be been 'stronger' if the black line were bolder. But again, I wouldn't sweat it too much. You EARNED it.

  4. At the risk of derailing my second thread of the day, the discussion of "tats" is interesting. I don't really care one way or the other if someone uses it, but it's not a term I'd use. But there's just something funny about the way Oliver uses it over and over and over in his LST interview that you can tell it's just him and his terminology. Something about it works. It reminds me of the discussion of Freddy Corbin and "bro" in his Tattoo Age video. It's sort of a gross word that Freddy makes his own. Of course, I used to use bro jokingly and ironically, and now it's worked it's way into my regular vernacular... Regardless, welcome to the forum!

Again, welcome. Watercolor is hard to pull off...maybe at some point consider filling in the dog paws with solid black for some contrast. I'd live with it for a bit before doing anything. Do you have aplastic anemia? I do a lot of work with a blood cancer charity that promotes education on blood cancers/diseases and gets people on the National Bone Marrow Registry. :)

Tremendous news @Missyblue !!! I have to agree with @Gingerninja and @oboogie - some black would help add punch...but it's natural to look at a piece of art and wonder how it could have been better. Certainly, live with it for awhile, research some ideas you may have/get and even consider what's the next tattoo. You may find that you'll decide to live with what you have and move on to the next tattoo.

Welcome. I agree with my friend @Gingerninja—think about adding some solid black once it fully heals.

  9. it's called blowout, and it probably won't go away.not much can be done about it now. probably better off leaving this tattoo alone, trying to fix it will just make it worse looking, kind of a just live with it thing. it can happen to anyone anywhere on the body by any tattooer. it's just a luck of the draw, mostly from pushing to hard with the tattoo machine, sometimes it's older skin like mine, many factors can contribute to blowout.

    Love these tats!

Hi! New here and I wanted to get on and say I am loving most all of the tats I have seen so far! Glad I found you! This is a pic of a tat I got about 3 weeks ago. It represents my love of dogs, horses and life. the Red and white in the middle is my ribbon for Aplastic Anemia. I need to have something done to it tho...not sure what.

  15. thanks man! only work with reeeally light shadows if the customer wish so. i personally like it darker so the tat have room to get little bit lighter over the years. also i remember the customer to cream it regularly! so even the softest shadows stay solid.

Hey there! Nice "tat", "tattoo", "ink", and other terms that may or may not be allowed to be spoken in these here parts. I didn't notice a glossary in the rules, and believe me I looked. As far as your "three loves", I'd only wished it packed more punch--only my opinion. The watercolor splatter looks very dainty for your representations. It's still pretty though.

    hey!

If you have looked at the artists work and think the work he's done is of a quality and style you are happy with, then I think it is a great idea to give him your thoughts and let him design something for you. Let him go and see what he comes up with.

RF is a blast. I've always wanted to make it out to PRB but it seems like these days I'm more into Rockabilly weekenders.

    Hello everyone

I currently have three tattoos, a scorpion on my left shin, XIX on the inside of my left middle finger, and my dads hand writing saying "I love you" on my right wrist. I'm actually getting another tattoo today the 12th

    Pagoda 2017!

NICE! I will be there with my charity, Love Hope Strength. We're a rock and roll cancer organization that primarily goes on tour with bands (lots of punk...think a lot folks on Fat Wreck, Flogging, Dropkick, Social D, Bosstones, Frank Turner, etc.) and at most festivals. We educate fans on blood cancers and get people registered on the National Bone Marrow Registry! Stop by my table...I'll be there all weekend! If I'm not getting tattooed, I should be at the table. :) @Boiled Dove

I will be there!! Just booked time with Marina Inoue to do my other calf. That is Sat evening, might have to do something else as well. We should have some LST meetup times, even though I've not been on here much lately.

    Realistic tattoo

Not sure how realistic you like your realistic tattoos. Myself, the hyper-realism, and even most of the photo-realistic stuff is not my cup of tea. They look really cool, but not my style. My personal preference is toward the realism built upon a traditional "framework", for lack of a better term. Darcy Nutt is really good at tattooing what I described above - because pictures are worth way more than my crappy descriptions. One of my personal favorite artists, and a super chill lady - I hope to get more work from her one day. I think a black and grey realistic owl would be cool. Have any idea what kind of owl you want?

    Realistic tattoo

For me the kind of realistic tattoo that appeals is black and grey stuff that doesn't go too far into the hyper-realism end of things (you know, that looks not just photographic but almost goes further, with the really crazy light effects). Jose Lopez, Chuey Quinatar... Some of the crazy Mexican bandits in front of trains, goddesses, human sacrifices, Virgin and Jesus etc. I like looking at the religious stuff in general, or big epic myths and legends pieces like you see some of the Eastern Europeans do. Think these are both Zsolt Sarkozi (Hungary). Love this stuff.

  27. Looks like an octopus to me. Octopus are kind of alien in a way if you think about it though. I wouldn't read into too much of what people say though, its solid work and once the coloring is in it will be read better as others said before. It does remind me of the Doctor Who suit alien though...
