    Hand Tattoos

There may come a day when hand tattoos won't limit career choices, but we're not there yet. I have pretty heavy coverage; two sleeves, full back and one leg, but I can cover everything up with pants and a long sleeve shirt. My only comment for people that want to get hand tattoos is to go into it with your eyes wide open. In today's economy, there is no more job security. You may need to switch companies or occupations. Think long and hard. If you decide to do it anyway, go big or go home!

    DEATH

If I was a cat, I'd be down to 1 life left..at best. In fact, I may be ahead of the game. In just my 26 years in the Army, I had an 8" artillery shell detonate over my head and was hit with shrapnel but without injury, I've ridden 2 helicopters to the ground with engine failures...one hard enough to compress the skids...and walked away and was in the area of the Pentagon hit by the plane on 9/11 and twice escaped (at least) from circumstances where I could have not made it out. My uniform is part of the Smithsonian exhibition form that day....I stared Death down and smiled back. My second tattoo is attribute to the 9/11 experiences. Not focused on death but on the determination to live and to face the threat head on. That's why I chose an eagle standing on a pentagonal shaped rock with sun rays shining overhead. Death doesn't scare me nor does it control my actions. When it comes it comes...and I am ready to face the life after.

I'm thinking about getting something from Jon Bass when he comes near here. I met him at a tattoo convention last year. Love his style. Kinda weird. jonbasstattoo.com

  5. Started this little guy the other day! Popped into one of my favorite shops for their walk-in Saturdays and my artist Jordyn came up with this to match my left shin which is a fox sitting in a rose. Go back for color on June 15th! The angle is kinda wonky in the second picture, it's hard to get a straight on shot of your own shins when you don't have a mirror! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Shading bothered me more than outlining. Kinda felt like sandpaper rubbing over and over sensitive skin.

  7. I snagged this from Benny Haft over at Allied last week. I finally finished my torso after five years, done by Ian Dana Camp (formerly of Good Faith in Boston) currently at Adventure Tattoo in Nashville. He was all booked up in Boston before his move, but I luckily caught him doing a guest spot in Philly right after he moved.

  8. This. Outlines kill and shading is easy peasy. It's different for everyone.

  9. I like the way it looks stylewise and colorwise. There are lots of factors that affect the pain being felt. Certainly going back into a non-completely healed area is a big one, but generally after 2-3 weeks it should be back to mostly normal. Shading always hurts me more than outline, but lots of people feel the opposite, too. Going into it thinking it was going to be a breeze might the the culprit, too.

So I'm searching about the interwebs for artists in NH and I come across this guy in Portsmouth, about 45 min from me. http://www.hobostattoo.com/andrew-stortz/ I'm thinking his stuff is pretty solid so I go to look up his IG and it turns out he is also Klaude Cloud. Perhaps I will have to take a little drive.

Absolutely. Thanks so much, man. All I had told him beforehand was that I wanted a mandala on one hand and some bold geometric tribal-style work on the other, and when I showed up at Rock of Ages he blew my mind with this idea he was kicking around. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. Also, he had a ton of great recommendations for vegan restaurants in Austin and was kind enough to drive me and my girlfriend to his favourite spot in town when we finished up! Overall, it was a way cool experience.

I know I already posted this picture when I first got these done, but I figured I'd include a photo in the actual "Hand Tattoo" thread as well. Here are my hands. Applied by Thomas Hooper.

How does one "like" and "not-like" a post at the same time?
