There are many more experienced folks her - and I know some will chime in - but I think it's too early to really tell since we don't know what your artist intends to do with the rest of the work. I would, definitely, communicate your concerns to the artist and ask him how he/she plans to proceed before your next appointment begins. Be satisfied that he understands your concerns and that the final piece will address them.

Welcome. You're going to have to find an experienced artist who can overlap flowers over the existing ink. It can be done, but it's going to take at least 2-3 trips. Just my $.02 but banner idea isn't necessary.

There are dozens of excellent blackwork/geometric specialty artists who could incorporate and build around that. Where do you live?

I just got my first tattoo done 3 weeks ago. It's a memorial tattoo for my dad who passed back in August. It was done by Ashlie Layne at Cherry Street Ink in Macon, GA (@ashlietattoos on instagram). I am very happy with the shop, and love Ashlie. Her style is awesome - killer script work and detail. That's why I chose her - the zipper is a huge focal point for the tattoo and very important, and it is highly detailed, so I definitely wanted it to be done right. This is it freshly finished: And this is the idea I have been working on to add to it:

Go back to Black Heart in June to continue my Fudo/Dragon sleeve. The more I look at it the more I love it. I'm also gonna talk to Scott about landing an appointment with someone in October. I'd say but I don't want to jinx it. Lately I've been planning a whole lot of tattoos and trying to get a general time frame. I've gotten a lot of work done since last October and I figure I'm in a good position to pay for tattoos now so I might as well keep it rolling.

Spotted this one in Sambo's restuarant in Lincoln City Oregon. Made by Tom Slick in 1972. It was finished by Mr. Slick in Bert Grimm's Portland shop. It has held up very well. The only tattoo this gent had except for a dot on top of each of his fingers that a friend's brother did to him when he got drunk.

Suburbanxcore you're right I don't know how I missed that on the homepage. On another note Pagoda tattoo fest looks so ill yet again this year. Its only an hour away from my folks house but I will be flying in again the next month for a wedding. Looks like I'll have to put it off another year.

Thanks for the comment! His name is Carl Greili and works out of west anchor tattoo. I think he did a great job too. The more I get used to it I'm starting to think waiting a while before I add to shoulders is probably a good idea.

I had visited family I had not seen in about 7 years or so and around that time I did not have any tattoos. It was a bit of a shock to say the least for them and to which my Uncle belted out this gem " You do know that you are not japanese, right?"

A crazy old dude came up to me in the street a few weeks ago, he was pointing out his wrist to me. He had a tattoo on the top of his arm and so do I, so I started showing mine thinking he was looking to talk tattoos. Turns out he was just trying to do the universal signifier for 'do you have the time'. I guess Decoratedskins say the darndest things too. Haha.

I realized a while ago at work that members of the general public are more likely to talk to me (I work a job that a lot of people think is interesting and that they are curious about) when I have my tattoos covered up than when I'm in short sleeves. If your tattoos don't deter foes then you're doing it all wrong. Time to toughen up, pals.

getting my third tattoo...in the shop there was a candle burning and it had a distinct smell afterward everytime i would smell a candle like that it would transport me right back to getting tattooed and then i would want another tattoo also green soap

Holy shit I just came up with a great Halloween costume. If you do have full sleeves, you could just put sheer stockings over them and pretend to have the fake sleeve things on.
