  1. So, I got to spend a few hours yesterday with Jack freakin Rudy at Shanghai Kate's shop. Such a wonderful experience. Jack's a very cool guy and we talked throughout most of the tattoo. At the end we all agreed that it looks like an old-school Jack Rudy tattoo.

    Having second thoughts

I think the placement is good. If it was higher, the beak would move onto your neck and the angle would make it appear bent.

looks great,I would leave it alone for a while, rethink adding around it in 6 months,IMO it looks good by itself. and it will look like your other tattoos in time too,it just looks like that now because it's new. I'm sure your other tattoos looked bold and dark when they were new too.

  5. Lower leg tattoo blues right now. Inside of my ankle, swelling is bad, and I dread moving from a sitting to standing position. Don't want to get out of bed in the morning Delighted with the result though, I've been sitting on this idea for 7 years. Every time I looked at my Basket Case t-shirt, I was reminded to get it done. Better late than never.

  7. i actually see what you're saying. up close, you can see the delineation between the petals. But farther away, it looks like a bit of a blur. There's not enough contrast between the grays and the lines. Let it heal all the way, then maybe have a friend draw the black portion on with a sharpie and see how it reads from a distance. if you think it's a significant enough improvement, take a picture of it, bring that design to a reputable artist, and explain the story. they should be able to fix it up and hopefully make you happy with the tattoo.

  10. Got this at the space city tattoo expo over the weekend. My artist is Cory Cartwright. I'm in love with it and can't wait for it to heal. I'm healing this one with tegaderm. I'm having a little trouble with it though. I put it on yesterday, it was juicy underneath it when I went to sleep. This evening though, it's all dried up underneath. I can't remember if it is supposed to dry up this soon or not. I've only used it once before on another tattoo. Anyone know if that's normal? I don't see any holes in it. I posted in the aftercare section too, maybe I'll get some answers. Anyway, thanks for looking!

  15. I can identify with what you're saying ... although maybe it's a *bit* harsh. However, everyone starts somewhere. Maybe that person with the feather turning into a flock of birds will go on a tattoo journey and finish up with a Filip Leu bodysuit. Stranger things have happened.

  16. I never judge based on 'trendiness'. if someone sat through a tattoo and are wearing it for life, that's badass no matter the design.

  17. eh i dont know - to each their own - but i more and more like the process of letting the artist do their thing - i dont think i would say to an artist 'hey tattoo whatever you like' but i like being able to say - 'here's what i'm thinking do yo thang' - if you like the artists style and consider them sufficiently competent and consistent in their body of observble work then i find that freedom makes the whole thing much more fun and enjoyable for both parties - just my .02
