Met Horitomo, I had a list of things I thought I might want and I ended up with only kind of getting something on that list. Definitely a MonMonCat, definitely going to be my favorite tattoo, definitely a Nekomata with Kitsune inside. I had this stupid kid in a candy store smile on my face the whole time I was watching the sketch form. Then I had to take a picture with my undies at my ankles, I didn't smile as much at that, or when I had to hand over my deposit. I will be back on the west coast in ~3 months and I'm so excited.

Outline done. Shading happening now. Also, OUCH.

I'm so happy with it, but GOOD LORD. That was brutal.

the world is your oyster. If I were you, I wouldn't worry about it until something makes a strong impact on you in particular.

Sorry of you choose to leave - clearly your choice. But, I'd just suggest you look at the issue from the perspective of people here who have a long association with the board - and I am not one of them as a relative newcomer. We regularly see post from people who are "trying to get into the business" who are in reality scratchers. Then there are the Spammers who really just want to sell something or bring attention to their products or strange ideas. WHat really helps is when new members tell us about themselves - and putting in your post that you'd apprenticed in a shop but left due to personal reasons would have been tremendously better than what you did post....which even I pegged as a probable scratcher...and thus why I didn't respond to your post. COuld people have responded differently? Sure. I think they would have had you provided full info.

thank you ! unfortunately i wont be sticking around much longer. the community here is gross. I've met plenty of people in the real world who are just as if not more beneficial to the craft than some of those on here. I wish you the best in your tattooing endeavors!!! <3

Oh @oboogie *she for starters, and no I am not self taught. i no longer associate with the shop i apprenticed at due to issues with the other artist in the shop . and no i will not be putting my work info online. why bring up the other post? literally all i said was maybe you shouldnt be such a pretentious prick to people. I mean I'm always aiming to improve no matter how good i think i get. I really hope that you havent gone your whole career (which seems pretty established) without asking anyone for help or advice or googling anything. but if you have then please tell me your godly secrets because id love to know. After someone kindly showed me the rules and regs of the site, I can understand that this isnt a welcome place for scratchers or people who arent established tattoo artists and thats not hard to respect. what i cant respect is being unreasonable to people who are trying to learn, instead of telling them to F*** off its just as easy to point them in a better direction. but i suppose its a matter of preference. personally, ill go ahead and help those who need it. just not on here :)

Couple of hours. IT. WAS. BRUTAL. I usually sit and have a great conversation with my artist, but not for this—for this, I just had to grit my teeth and power through it. It was excruciating.

Japanese imagery and meaning isn't my forte, but the best source for such info would be the tattoo artists who specialize in pieces like this. Where do you live?

@flowerchild this thread is nearly 3yrs old. =) this is not the place to come to seek advice. check out the LST Guidelines. https://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/guidelines/ i hadn't read this thread before, but it doesn't seem like spookyluke was looking for advice. however, the LST Homepage states, "The mission of this website is to help preserve the craft of GOOD tattooing and to serve as an educational resource for those who want to learn the difference between good and bad tattoos. There are more bad than good tattoo artists out there, so it is more important than ever to do your research before getting tattooed." This thread definitely doesn't promote good tattooing. The craft is quite alive and there are many welcoming folks in the community... to those who they think are doing right by it.

I did, @Gingerninja! Ended up doing my knee and some gap filler, too. Still red, angry and swollen right now, so I'll post pictures as soon as it's healed.

@spookyluke All we (the forum) are asking you to do is not post homemade tattoos or ask advice. You haven't asked for advice so I'm relieved for that. It's a simple house rule and should be no problem to accommodate. I wouldn't come into your house and do something relatively simple you asked me not to do. It's just a respect thing and even if you feel bristled up by other responses you can read this and know I'm not being a dick or anything, just asking you to come correct and respect the forum.

@spookyluke : This just isn't a forum that showcases DIY tattoos. The mission statement pretty much implicitly states that on the front page. It's really more for celebrating the 'master master' guy$. (In fairness, this guy is less crazy than others who have turned up of late.)

It's great that you're down with the contemporary-classical masters and have yourself mastered several life-times worth of artistic disciplines, but this isn't the place for you. This is not a forum dedicated to amateur tattoos. Your CV will not change this.

I think I'm starting to like the new drama-filled LST. It's like a dive bar, every evening a new bust-up.

No one here is going to encourage you to produce bad tattoos, on you or anyone else.

@spookyluke Hey dude, we here are all about quality tattooing. Not homemade stick and poke tattoos. You should really watch the videos on the forum. You'll learn what brought us here and what keeps us here.
