  1. I too was in SF but missed @gingerninja but failed to link up. I did however I did stop in to see Kahlil at tattoo city. First and foremost what a great dude and great experience. The shop has so much energy. Kahlil's booth has seen some great tattooers adding to the mojo. I left with this bad larry. On another note I can say that I stand behind tegaderm as a healing method. Ill go into it more in the tegaderm thread.

  6. My first session with Theo was great! We got the basic outline done of a full mermaid that runs down my left leg from my hip to my knee. We'll finish it up somewhere, sometime this year (maybe at Pagoda). I'll post a photo when I'm all healed up. Spider Murphys is a magical place.

  8. Hey everyone, I'm just looking for some advice on a good forearm tattoo. I already have a rock of ages on my right forearm that you might have seen and I'm trying to figure out what to get on the other arm. One design I particularly like is this classic sailor jerry pinup, but let me hear your ideas! EDIT: I've also though about getting some kind of dagger. What do you guys think?

  9. Richard Smith at Three Kings.... Fairly easy to get an appointment, very good artist. About 2 years ago he was still very fair on pricing too.

  11. @Matej Haviar Thanks dude!!! I wasn't sure where he was going with the size at first, because I don't normally see that in Japanese backpieces, but I agree this is badass!! Absolutely love what he did with the oni that Jikokuten is standing on. Can't wait till the next session, which will be like patterns in the cloth and background (I love Takashi's backgrounds).

  12. Seems quite normal to me! Maybe apply a bit less ointment (looks shiny - a thick layer stops oxygen from getting to it and obstructs the healing process) and pat dry lightly so the scabs don't stick to the paper towel. Most important rule of all - do not tease or pull the scabs!

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

Long time no see ? Got a little one yesterday after a few months' tattoo break (well not counting a smallish walk-in-day thingy from December) I'm totally hyped about! Going back to the insanely talented and super nice Mr. Romeo next month for some more work on that arm, AND getting something else done by one of the other guys at the studio on the other one at the same time. Should be quite interesting Edit: photo pinched from my tattooer's instagram

  17. I'm currently visiting SF and while here I got tattooed by Kahlil. Due to the placement (my thigh) we decided to put some saniderm on it so it wouldn't imped on my walking around the city. I had used tegaderm during test runs but never on a fresh tattoo. After a day of walking the saniderm peeled on all corners pretty bad. The next day we continued walking around without an issue. That night I went to take a shower; I did my best not to get it wet but in the end the saniderm filled with water. I had no choice but to remove it. once out of the shower I was faced with a choice to either leave it off and have my tattoo rub against my jeans for 6-8 miles a day for the next three days or apply the tegaderm I brought. I opted to apply my tegaderm and boy am I happy I did. I had read mixed reviews on reapplying adhesive to your tattoo but I felt like I was left with little option. I'm on our final day here in SF and the tegaderms held up like a dream. There has been zero iritation and the tattoo appears to be coming along like a dream. Tegaderm in my opinion is leaps and bounds better than saniderm. It's thinner with better adhesive and more stretch. I'll keep everyone up to date once I take it off. As of now I stand behind reapplying adhesive if the situation calls for it.

    Your First Tattoo

I'll repeat my old story that wasn't posted on this thread..... In May 2014, I got my first tattoo. Though I've been into art for years, tattoos have been something I've been into since my teens. I was always hesitant because I didn't want to live with that "regretful" tattoo mixed with not being able to afford a good artist. I began my diet at 360 pounds, I kept saying to myself I'm going to get a tattoo when I lost 25 pounds. I got past 25 pounds then bumped it up to 50 pounds. Past that mark then 100 pounds. Past that and finally said when I lost 125 pounds I'm going to get a tattoo. FINALLY I got up to 128 pounds lost. I decided that's it I'm doing it. Being a fan of Luke Wessman's artwork and life story since about July of 2013. I needed him to do my first tattoo. Went to Wooster Street Social Club the day the doctor confirmed my weight loss. He took me as a walk-in. Having his talent, great back story and awesome conversation only fueled the fire of getting more tattoos. After having another 3 sessions with Luke, I went nuts and began getting tattooed by a few others: Timothy Hoyer, Mark Mahoney, Chris Garver (3x), Deno, Steve Wimmer and Rich Pineda. First Tattoo (sorry for big pic)

  20. It started with an old piece of Huck Spaulding flash from the 70's. Where it ends up is yet to be determined.

  22. Yesterday, I started my full back piece with Rei from Inkrat, Tokyo. Three-and-a-half hours of lining was pretty prickly in places - but some good blues music, a howling spring wind outside and the stoke got me through it unscathed. And there's something mindboggling about a Japanese tattooer doing an American old school interpretation of how a Japanese tattoo should look. Colours are coming in a few weeks and I'll update then, j

  23. Tattoos will look different on different skin, and it will change in appearace over time. If you are worried about how it will look long term (i.e., forever), then don't get one. Seriously.

  24. Handson makes a great point... Impulsiveness has brought you to this crossroads. The important thing now is to not allow it to decide which path you will take a second time. I can feel your angst and I empathize ... everything in you is pushing to make it gone, now ... but for your own sake, please, take your time with deciding what you will do next.

  25. Trust me, I've been there. Everything you just said I felt when I got my first couple of tattoos. I also considered laser which, as far as I know, does work, though results vary. The best advice I got on here was "get more tattoos". You'd be amazed at how soon you stop worrying when you have a few more. I strongly recommend keeping it, at least until it heals completely. I really think it looks good, and it has genuine significance to you. Remember, it could always be a whole lot worse.

    Your First Tattoo

I got my first tattoo 6 days ago. A traditional sailor jerry bald eagle with American flag. I plan to add a lot more around it though. I never understood what drove someone to get full sleeves...now I do . Edit: The first picture is fresh, the second is 6 days into healing.
