  2. My first session with Theo was great! We got the basic outline done of a full mermaid that runs down my left leg from my hip to my knee. We'll finish it up somewhere, sometime this year (maybe at Pagoda). I'll post a photo when I'm all healed up. Spider Murphys is a magical place.

  5. At the ripe old age of 59, and I can hardly believe I'm that old, I can tell you that what people say about regretting the things you didn't do more than the things you did do is 100% true. I don't have many regrets as I try to find the good in all my experiences, but the few I do have are regrets about things I wished I'd done. I was in a motorcycle accident 10 years ago, almost lost my leg, was inconstant pain for about 5 years and was in physical therapy trying to walk without a limp for 7 years on and off. I could cry about that, but my wife at the time asked me for a divorce the week I got home from the hospital and I wound up meeting the love of my life. In my book, even the accident worked out pretty good! Life is all about how you view it.

  7. I too was in SF but missed @gingerninja but failed to link up. I did however I did stop in to see Kahlil at tattoo city. First and foremost what a great dude and great experience. The shop has so much energy. Kahlil's booth has seen some great tattooers adding to the mojo. I left with this bad larry. On another note I can say that I stand behind tegaderm as a healing method. Ill go into it more in the tegaderm thread.

  8. Looks good now, but honestly I'd be worried that with that style and size it may be hard to read in 10 years.

  10. If you're unsure, I would say don't do it - it will be there for the rest of your (hopefully) long life! (p.s. your text would be a bit easier to read if you enable spell checking :))

  11. Love seeing these pieces and great theme for a thread. My contribution is this eagle I had done by Bert Krak at The London Tattoo Convention a few years ago. Such fast work and I love how it came out.

  15. Looks great! Welcome to the forum - it's been quite a few years but I had my heart stolen by Vienna, too. Of course, with the last name of Volk, my favorite stop was at the Volksoper.

  18. Probably my favorite right now is Steve Byrne, I'm always amazed at his creativity, crazy colors, and super bold lines. I have nothing by him...yet. And I guess I can post this here too. I got this Cap Coleman dragon design last night by Wes Garvick in York, PA. I've wanted a dragon for a while now and Cap does some of my favorites.

  19. Just got this guy on friday from Chris Marchetto. It's my first one from him and I'm pretty stoked about it. Got another appointment for next month. Also, not sure why the picture is coming out sideways.

    Thigh tattoo questions

I have half sleeves on both arms, and the bicep is excruciating. You don't know anything about pain if you haven't had large tattoos. Sorry. You just don't. @Synesthesia is 100% right.

  22. Yeah, okay, you almost fell asleep in the easiest spot you can get a tattoo and you've already said you get small ones. Go read the "least painful place to get a tattoo" thread and see how many people say shoulder or upper arm. You've had a whopping two tattoos, one of which in a universally easy spot, but want to talk about a high pain tolerance and say that not all tattoos hurt. Come back after you've had more experience and see how your opinion changes. I thought mine hurt a lot in certain spots, but then again, I was sitting for 7 hour sessions and covered a huge amount of skin. You'll probably come back here and say your slightly-larger-than-hand-sized tattoo in a relatively easy spot of the thigh was no problem. Two people already said certain aspects of the process suck more than others but your tattoo probably won't even touch on those because of size and placement. Not sure what else to tell you.
