    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

I looked through his profile, and can't locate anywhere where he is claiming to be a tattoo artist, or even giving advice out as one. He explicitly stated he's only tattooing himself, so who cares? Just let it go.

    Glad I found you!

welcome, that's how I started getting tattooed in the 80's(I'm 57), like you said,in those days we walked into a first come first serve shop and picked flash off the wall.

  3. Of course, I meant it more from my perspective as a customer than the government's attitude to it or the qualifications required... I go to a special sterile place to get my skin painfully hacked up by a professional and a foreign liquid injected into me to make visible lifelong changes to my body, objectively it's not a million miles away from the two professions I mentioned and my toes curl up at the thought of doing it to myself. I don't judge you for making your choices. I have a couple of tattooer friends back home from when I played in hardcore bands and their upper thighs are covered in really shitty beginner doodles, it's definitely not an alien concept to me. I didn't mean to sound patronizing with the concern comment. I haven't seen you give advice other than suggestions about designs etc, I think the objection from the more established members might be the couple of attempts you've made to discuss technical stuff regarding gear or technique, the reason being most people feel you should pick up that initial knowledge in a shop during an apprenticeship. I don't think you should stop posting *hug*.

  4. An artist I am not; I certainly am not going to waste the limited space I have with shitty work done by myself. I would rather let a trained professional do it!

  5. Hello Great site! I am a 47 year old collector. Started over almost 30 years ago with the small pieces most kids got back then, and started getting serious a few years ago. Call it an early midlife crisis. Came across this site looking for ideas for my second sleeve, hope to get inspired here!

  7. Here's a great shot of Lynn and me while we were at Epcot last week. During our time at Disney Studios there were several Star Wars characters there that you could have pictures taken with. My son and his family wanted to see Chewbacca so Lynn and I sat outside for a few minutes since there was a 25 minute wait to get through the line. As we sat there, we saw that the wait time for Kylo Ren was only 10 minutes....so Lynn said let's go get our picture taken. They bring you into a room with the person who is totally in character. Kylo Ren, one of the key villains in The Force Awakens, watched as we walked into the room and immediately confronted Lynn leaning into her and telling her he could sense her thoughts and that she was supportive of the rebellion. Lynn played right along and stood toe to toe with him. We got a bunch of great pics of the two of them - here are two.

  8. You are welcome here. Just don't give advice and represent yourself like you are a tattoo artist. Because you aren't.

  13. The reason you don't see tattoos like that often is because they look like complete dog shit when they heal. I will attach some examples. https://www.tattoodo.com/a/2016/03/the-test-of-time-tattoo-styles-that-won-t-stand-it-watercolor/

  15. It's a beautiful sleeve, Thirstydog ... I love colorful tattoos ... Interesting to note that I find my interest in tattoos also renewed around the same age ... midlife crisis? ... hate to admit it, but maybe you're right! lol Welcome to the LST forums!

  16. I will not "let sleeping dogs lie" when someone is actively giving advice as a tattoo artist on this forum when they bought a machine from eBay and are scratching on themselves. Sorry. That's not cool.

  20. Thank you so much @zetroc! I'm going to print off the list for my travel book. I've heard of a few of these places but you've listed a bunch that weren't on my radar. Gracias!!

  21. Doesn't traditional Japanese way of healing also include a hot bath? My theory would be that the hot water loosens up all the plasma, especially if anything already dry, so you're able to wash it all away to set you up for a nice healing process. If you have scabs then you need to stay away from hot water because it will make the scabbed area all mushy and shit, but scabs take a few days to show up if you allow plasma to build up.

  22. Well, it really depends on where the tattoos are and where we need to treat. Our triangulation tattoos are placed on specific parts of the body, usually. Places where the skin is fairly tight against the bones or not very prone to moving. For instance, if you feel from your armpit down the side of your ribs you'll find a place around the middle of your torso where there's very little muscle or fat, and the skin is very close to the ribs. If you go towards the midline from there, you'll find that this generally aligns with the xiphoid process, the very tip of your sternum. So we would tattoo once on either side and then again right on midline on the sternum. And that could be used for treatments basically anywhere in the torso because we would align to those tattoos and then shift the field to the actual treatment area. But if someone is tattooed in those areas there are a few ways we could handle it. The first is the simplest: just tattoo over it. If a small black dot would be visible through the tattoo, then we're fine. Second, we tattoo somewhere they don't have tattoos; this can make things more tricky but its doable. The third way, would depend on their tattoo, but if they have a tattoo with specific things on it (Ie an image of something rather than an abstract pattern) Then we can use some detail of the tattoo as our marking point. Use what's there. But as Omeletta said, UV ink would also be very useful in those kinds of instances because then we could just put a glowing dot in and not worry about tattoos they have. Although to be honest, most of my patients are of the age where they generally didn't get tattoos, so it doesn't come up too often. I'm based in Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm going to go to a place called "Diversity Tattoo" later this week and have them try a few inks on me, to get an idea of what the best case (Ie fair skin) looks like.

  24. Tigress by Chris O'Donnell. There's no way that this photo does it justice! It wraps all the way around my thigh both front and back then up to my butt (and OMG, I love the tiger tail on my butt!). The photo looks a little distorted due to my inability to take a photo of it myself. Way up high, he tied in my existing peony with rocks and fngerwaves. It looks sweet.

    Please rate my tattoo!

Meh, messy tattoo I'd rather look at a tattoo than read a paragraph. Too much text. A picture is worth 1000 words.

    Cover Up Advice

Is the tattoo funny or is he asking for an impossible cover-up? I have no personal experience with shops in London. But the key is to go to a reputable and professional shop. Has he visited any of the shops (Black Garden and Family Business) you've been tattooed at? or places like Frith Street, Seven Doors, or Modern Classic?
