    Upcoming Tattoos

April 1st I start outlining my second sleeve with Scott Sylvia. Going Japanese this time. I had a lot of different artists in mind for this project but Scott is such a cool dude that I decided I'd just continue going to see him. I'd still like to get work done by a few other people but I just don't when that'll happen.

  2. I used to do the hot bath actually. I've been told that's a pretty traditional Japanese method. To be honest, I don't know why I ever really stopped, other than it hurt like hell and it's not always convenient, particularly when I was traveling to NYC for tattoos often.

  3. What a simple idea that is so hard to follow a lot of times, not just for tattoos, but things in general. I like this.

  4. Ah, one week to go until we leave for a week in San Francisco. I've been to SF a bunch for work and some fun but never a week of full-on tourist stuff. We are going to eat, drink and be very merry. If you have any recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

  7. Hello Great site! I am a 47 year old collector. Started over almost 30 years ago with the small pieces most kids got back then, and started getting serious a few years ago. Call it an early midlife crisis. Came across this site looking for ideas for my second sleeve, hope to get inspired here!

  8. @oboogie I think that you are right! Going for the backpiece as a first tattoo. Boom. I recently met a guy who did a gorgeous sleeve as his first tattoo. We laughed...go big or go home. All I know is that for me, tegaderm is my savior!

  10. Per my tattooer, I take a 30 minute hot bath as soon as I get home from the tattoo. Let air dry for two hours then a little A&D ointment, rewrap and that's it for the night. Next day, I take another 30 minute hot bath, let air dry if I have time, otherwise a little A&D and wash/rewrap 3 times a day. I'm usually peeling by the third or fourth day so I then I just put cocoa butter on it morning and night for a week, then I declare it healed. I know a hot bath goes against what most tattooers recommend, but since I started doing that, my heals have been amazing. My colors still pop almost 5 years later.

    Latest tattoo lowdown.....

this is the definition IMO, and at this forum as is at most "tattoo" related forums the common definition of scratcher is this. "An inexperienced, untalented, unclean and untrained tattooer. Though usually found working out of home kitchens, they have been known to find work in disreputable tattoo shops. The word "Scratcher" comes from the look of the, so called "tattoos", they produce. Looking more like colored scratchs, than recognizable images." or this, "A tattoo artist who is untrained and usually can't tatoo worth a shit. They frequently place their clients health at risk by re-using needles, not sterilizing equipment, and not covering their machines." "Scratcher—Someone who tattoos without any training, health code regulations or the proper use of equipment typically causing damage to the skin of people they ink." pretty much sums it up. ======================================================================== sources: http://www.urbandictionary.com http://www.inkedmag.com/tattoo-lingo/ and a because I mean no disrespect and only mean this post in a positive good way.

  13. Just having a little fun. Seriously though, if you are OCD, you will certainly be more unhappy with the results if you try to fix it. You got lucky. There is so much God-Awful script out there and yours is nice. Revel in the parts that are perfect.

  15. Tigress by Chris O'Donnell. There's no way that this photo does it justice! It wraps all the way around my thigh both front and back then up to my butt (and OMG, I love the tiger tail on my butt!). The photo looks a little distorted due to my inability to take a photo of it myself. Way up high, he tied in my existing peony with rocks and fngerwaves. It looks sweet.

I also vote for color, but that's just my preference. I have an appointment booked for tattoo number two with James Cumberland in April! Also hoping to get back in with Myra Oh in April since I wasn't able to get a March appointment. Working on those squidpants.

  19. Been away for about a week - Lynn and I took our son and his family to Disney World as part of our membership in the SKI Club...Spend the Kids Inheritance. We'd rather do things with them now than die and leave them money. It was the first time there for our daughter-in-law and our twin 8 year old grand daughters. Our son and grand son have been there before with us on an earlier trip when he was going through the divorce from his first wife. What a great time we had. 5 days, 4 parks pretty much non-stop. Although the girls had a few moments along the way from being tired they were amazing - and rode every roller coaster and fist ride we went on. Their reactions were generally..that was really scary...let's do it again. Here are Lynn and me enjoying dinner at Disney Springs a few hours before the rest of the family arrived. Me with our twin grand daughters taking a break at Epcot. And the winning event of the trip for the girls was having dinner with the Disney Princesses at Cinderella's Castle. For the quality of the food and the experience, well worth the cost. Lynn and I had champagne with dinner and the girls loved meeting the princesses who came to each table and signed autographs, talked with the girls and took pictures with them. And, we were inside the dining room - on the upper floor of the castle - during the fireworks so you got a truly unique view of watching them from inside the castle. The smiles say it all.

  21. Testing for my 2nd permanent brown belt in TKD tomorrow. My kids are both done now w/the tests in our dojang under our instructor and will be testing in June for their temporary black belts w/Grand Master Jung. I will test for mine next February. We were able to attend our instructor's test this past December when she tested and achieved 6th Dan, and then a couple weeks ago we attended the temporary black belt test of one of our students, and he promoted Monday so that was exciting. His son will be testing with my kids in June.

  22. Hummm...I always thought that you should never re-wrap a tattoo? I've also never known anyone to use Dove. I've always used a gentle antibacterial soap like Dial Gold. Me, I stick to unscented lotions like Lubriderm and Aveeno until I'm healed then go for the coconut oil. My biggest concern for you is the re-wrapping part. I'll let others chime in but that doesn't seem like it would allow your tattoo to breathe to heal. My two cents. Good luck!

    Tattoo Community?

when people come here and ask for comments on my new first tattoo, what do they expect ? we are all adults here, this isn't a "Hallmark" forum, if it's a crappy tattoo, should we lie to sugar coat it so people feel better ? NO ! IMO . "It's too late to change anything, why are you gonna make someone feel bad?" nobody here is trying to make anyone feel bad about their tattoo,if it's a crappy design or applied badly,as hard as that is to hear, the biggest thing is hopefully we can help people get a better tattoo on their next tattoo. it's that simple, and yes,our types of replies will vary just as us humans are all different. there are rules in place here and most people adhere to them pretty well.the moderators do a pretty good job here.compared to many online discussion forums this place stays very civil and friendly.
