Some great tattoos posted on this page! Got this one yesterday from Jan Willem (@janwillemtattoo) at Bont en Blauw tattoo Rotterdam. Asked for a octopus filler and this is what he drew up. immediately said yes to his idea and this is the end result. Edit: all other work except the partially visible black skull is done by Jan Willem as well5 points

Latest tattoo lowdown.....

@suburbanxcore White Rose is pretty new, the guys at the shop said they just opened about 4 months ago. They specialize in traditional and there's SO MUCH good flash on the walls, I had a hard time deciding. http://instagram.com/whiterosetattooparlour Wes didn't do the panther, that was done by Chad Koeplinger when he came through DC a couple years ago. Took him about an hour and a half to do. This is a better picture I took of it when it was freshly healed.4 points -

Got my somewhat spontaneous dragon tattoo today. Wes Garvick did it and I'm so stoked on it. His shop is literally the only one in town I'd ever go to, if you ever find yourself in York, PA. And what's that you guys always say about everyone needs a panther and dragon? Now I have both and they're friends.3 points -

Probably my favorite right now is Steve Byrne, I'm always amazed at his creativity, crazy colors, and super bold lines. I have nothing by him...yet. And I guess I can post this here too. I got this Cap Coleman dragon design last night by Wes Garvick in York, PA. I've wanted a dragon for a while now and Cap does some of my favorites.2 points -
Healed lady I got from Ivan Antonyshev while he was guesting in Leeds last month. Spotted this design on the Mainstay T-shirt and fell in love with it. So stoked to get a piece from him at last.2 points

Post your bloody tattoos!
SStu reacted to Synesthesia for a topic
No, this is not a British thread, I want to see your in progress, bleeding shots of your tattoos! Maybe it's just me but I love getting pictures of this because I bleed a crazy amount when I get tattooed. Like "oh god, please wipe me again, I'm dripping on the floor" kind of bleeding. I found this kind of old picture of a tattoo I finished about a year ago and that's what inspired the thread. I also took this one last night. That yellow smear is some ink that rubbed off on my forearm, so you can see the blood ran all the way down to my elbow.1 point -

Painting Methods & Materials

Hey! just wanted to say thanks. This thread has been a wealth of knowledge for me. finally getting somewhere with a mix of FW acrylics, talents drawing ink, PH Martens, nib pens and brushes. Picked up some arches cold press recently but I'm not 100% sold on it jus to yet. It is VERY rough in comparison to the Langton Prestige paper which I normally use. So far that is the best paper I have used. Works well for me. Here is a recent one I did using the materials above, but with Langton.1 point -

myself and my wife usually both get tattooed in consecutive appointments at shops and conventions, it's an awesome shared time together,we always have a lot of fun in those experiences. we always have a great time with the artists and usually laugh a lot and that also helps keep minds off of the pain a little.1 point -
It was great seing you again Gareth! Although I have to admit I felt like a sadist at times too, haha. You're tougher than most!1 point

Made another Oslo trip last week to start a cover up on my lower stomach. While i was there i picked up a namakubi from Nicholas at Blue Arms. The cover up is ongoing and i don't mind admitting i'm very apprehensive about the next session! This was not a fun tattoo to get although Marius did his best to keep my spirits up and a visit from LST's own Mr @Iwar definitely kept me distracted from the significant pain!1 point -
Got this kitsune from Matt Arriola yesterday.1 point

'Derm is great and I've had a lot of success with it in the past. However, since application is an issue, I wouldn't recommend it in this context. I'm 7 sessions deep in my backpiece and haven't had any issues sleeping on the fresh tattoo doing the following: 1) Wash tattoo the before bed after the appt. 2) Re-wrap using saran wrap and medical tape 3) Wear a loose T-shirt overtop 4) Carefully remove in the morning (soak T-shirt in shower and remove there if your wrap-job didn't hold up and some of the tattoo is sticking to the shirt). 5) Wash tattoo and go about your day After the first night I haven't had much issue with a lot of plasma weeping. Sleeping was pretty "normal" after that. Not saying it's "pillow-soft-comfortable", but it's about as normal as can be the first few days post tattoo. Also, with my backpiece the sessions are almost always more heavily biased to one side of my body than the other, so I've gotten away with sleeping on my less tattooed side, pretty comfortably. Good luck!1 point

Ongoing piece. When it's done it will start at my ankle and connect to my chest piece. It's a tiger and samurai on my leg and dragon on my ribs/stomach. Just outline and shading so far on the dragon. We decided to work our way up.1 point

Parlor Romances...

I was tattooing at a busy shop outside of Ft Benning Ga. Don was stationed there working as a Ranger instructor. He got tattooed at the shop and soon became my client.within a few months he began working there also learning how to tattoo and working the 10-3am shift. We were friends , he had a girlfriend and I was married to another tattooer at the shop and had a little boy. Don became a close family friend, a trusted coworker and I know that we really bonded during the hours spent tattooing him. I guess we were friends and coworkers for about 2 years or so when I became single again. I can't say that we had a wild romance but just that we were such good friends and we really liked and respected one another. Our first date , so to speak, was in June - and we were married at the end of November. For the next 10 years we tattooed wherever Don was stationed ( he worked in the army and tattooed till he retired from the military, almost 10 years ago) We also went on to have 5 more children. this November we'll be married 20 years.1 point
