Happy new year everyone! Time for another contest. RULES: The tattoo photos posted in this thread will be submitted for polling of Last Sparrow's Best DAGGER tattoo. This is all in good spirit and fun of course. The submission process opens on the 1st of the month and ends on the 20th of the month. After that there will be an open poll for one week, which will close on the 27th, and the tattoo with the most votes wins. Your tattoo picture must be posted in this thread (both tattooers and tattoo customers can win) in order to qualify. Include tattoo artist name & tattoo shop with your photo/post. You MUST be the one who has the tattoo or did the tattoo. It MUST be a finished tattoo It MUST fit the theme of the contest Each member may submit up to 3 tattoos for each contest. The theme of January is: DAGGERS

@Gingerninja Who's doing yours in March? A friend of mine got a Conn girl back in August just before he moved to Germany, and it's stunning. Throwing it in here.

True story: last time I went to have my back worked on, I brought diazepam (valium) that my doctor prescribed for that purpose (I told him what was goin' on). It does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for pain, but I was having muscle contractions in my back so severe that it was causing huge problems with our ability to keep tattooing. I did three appointments before I finally caved and admitted that I could not zen mind-control myself into a state of immobility. It was just completely involuntary, even when I was expecting it and telling myself I had to stay still. I wrestled with that a lot. I don't like the idea of using a crutch to get through it. But the truth is, everybody involved is happier. I know that's a little different than your issue, because yours is crying brought on by pain, and I'm not sure how to fix that. But having finally conceded to using something to help me with an issue I had on the table, I think you just have to figure out what the safest, healthiest, most effective thing is for you to do, and then not feel bad about it!

@Gingerninja Drawing it on and tattooing time were about 1:15 total. Fast as hell.

Wow, Chris is the master! I love his work. I've never seen anything of his that I didn't love, love, love. Paul Dobleman is doing mine. I'm trying to figure out if I want full face, profile or 3/4. It's going on the side of my left hip. @suburbanxcore

Thanks! I'm planning to add more stuff around it, I just want to plan it out so everything "fits" nicely. Kind of like puzzle pieces.

I think it looks fine and wouldn't worry about it at all. As I said in the other thread when you initially asked, I woulda loved to see you go bigger with it, but it's a rock solid start to a chest/front.

speaking of lady heads,I would like to have one from Valerie Vargas,she goes to the SF show,I may give her a shout this year and see if I can get in with her.

The numbing creams take time to act, so plan on up to an hour after application. My derm. used one for pre-laser numbing, but I'm not sure it did much. The strongest legal (non-prescribed) pain control is to have your mind and body in the best of health. Sent from my Le Pan TC802A using Tapatalk

Got my first leg tattoo by Victor J Webster @ East River Tattoo in NYC yesterday. It's his interpretation of the Bakunawa, the Philippine mythical dragon which devours the moon and causes lunar eclipses.

Getting a "gone too soon" tattoo tomorrow night in honor of my late wife Barbara. I'll post a picture of it after my appointment.

Update: Aug 31. Scott Ellis is finally back in the US, so we put in five more hours dropping color into the dragon. I am so relieved to have the ditch of my arm done! That was probably the worst part.

Update May 20.... Today was Session #2 with Scott Ellis at Triple Crown Tattoo. 5.25 hours in the chair with only a few short breaks. Some of these sections are pretty swollen, and I have one area behind my arm that is super red and angry... but other than that, it looks great. Gonna be a long weekend of feeling sunburnt and frequent washing, and hopefully it will heal as quickly as the line-work. Tomorrow I'm going to the movies, so no need to move it all day.
