Hey everyone! My name is Emily. I'm 26 years old, originally from Michigan, currently living in Florida. After a solid year of researching and reflecting, I finally got my first tattoo three weeks ago! You can imagine I sifted through a lot of shit information on tattoos and tattooing during that time, so I'm happy to have landed here at last. I've been lurking for the past few weeks and the trove of solid advice I've found here has done wonders for easing my numerous healing process anxieties. I'm also excited to have found a community of tattoo enthusiasts since my husband and most of my friends are completely uninterested in tattoo culture. I'm looking forward to joining the community, continuing to learn about the craft, and continuing to collect tattoos. Here's my new tattoo by Myra Oh out of Jacksonville, Florida. fresh: three weeks healed: close up (also three weeks healed; forgive my leg hair, I have no idea when it's okay for me to shave again): I'm a pharmacist currently pursuing advanced training in toxicology, so all of the plants in the tattoo are toxic.

  5. I have one last session to go on my back,I already had tattoos on my chest/stomach, two sleeves, legs, feet, hands, fingers and neck so ok with the pain. Ive been waiting ages to get my back done as i couldn't decide what to get or who to do it but anyway i found a guy and an idea and away i went. First session was just outline and it was tough, i realised that the back was comparable to my stomach/chest/feet Second session was black and some color on shoulder blades....this session was a bit easier as i knew what to expect, sat for 6 hours felt crap after Third session blasted it for 6 hours with not much left to do...I found the top of my back the absolute worse. here it is so far roughy 15 hours of actual tattoo time. its worth it but it does hurt and itches loads but looks badass and makes you look fully sick and the disco.

@TheFnTexan it honestly was one of the nicest shops I have ever been in. Everyone was crazy nice, everything was super clean and just has an all around good vibe. I'm looking forward to him coming back so we can do some more. Trash Polka :)

  13. I had wanted chest tattoos for a long time, which got me into the gym again. Can't slap a tattoo on a weak chest can we? I had to wait a while but it was worth it. My chest tattoos were done in 2010. In 2004 I was at the point where I had 5 tattoos that were old and I would hide them from others. Then I learned that old work could be freshened up and new work could be added around it... or covered up! So I'm sort of reborn in a colorful way. I'm also reconnected to the art itself. I have a new appreciation for oriental art as well as other styles of tattooing. And I've met some great artists along the way.

Yay! I knew you'd know. We were watching an Aardman Animation documentary the other night, and it just occurred to me it would be hilarious. I called my artist, and he was also familiar with W+G, too, and he thought it was funny. He didn't charge me much at all and said, "Happy birthday!" (It was my birthday last weekend.)

  15. That Thomas Hooper skull is MEGA... @SStu You've got my vote! Two entries from me: 1) 7 headed cobra and skull by Uncle Allan, about 2 years healed in this pic. 2) Tiger and wind-skull by Tim Lehi, healed a few months in this photo.

  16. My pup passed away back in June. Last Sunday, Jeff Rassier just so happened to have some time available for walk-ins, so I went and got his tiny tatt version of Huckleberry on my wrist. None of my tattoos has made me smile more! I don't think there are enough loved animal tattoos in this thread or perhaps I just haven't skimmed it in a while. Post 'em if ya got 'em!

This is our newest cat, Ivan. My son rescued him out of an abandoned car where he works at 5 weeks old. He's into everything but a good kitten. Pics are from 3 to 5 months and I need to take fresh ones. He's 7 months old now.

    Repeating Tattoos?

I too have a lot or repeats, rose and flowers in heaps, angry cat heads and just generally angry heads aplenty. But none as epic as this fellow, he knows what he likes and he likes Bert Krak's eagles!

    Black Work

Great reply Patrick! About the "borrowing". It's funny. For me it is also about the fact that the designs are so simplistic that I am actually more able to be myself (this is in thinking and in thought) when the design just IS. I don't have to think about the deeper connection (like the Rory and Leo backpieces represent whales tale and that has a meaning. If I remember correctly) because it just enhances my body. It's the same reason I want to get the Ensō circle tattooed on me, because it represents nothing but the moment. Breathing in, breathing out. And here is the kicker. At the same time I sort of CREATE my own deep tribal desing, or what ever you want to call it. I give the tattooing life. As did all the old tribes and such. Modern Primitives
