  1. I don't see anyone beating that Chad K/Jondix back, but I'll submit one of my skulls for the fun of it. I like the themed contests, at the very least they can serve as a good source of inspiration for people looking to get a certain thing tattooed. Anyways, here's my skull from Steve Byrne at ROA from a few years ago. Don't really have a healed photo, but found one that kinda works. It's loosely based off of a anti-bolshevik German propaganda poster I saw at the Harry Ransom center in Austin while I was in Austin earlier that day.

    Snake and Celtic cover up

Just had some line work done in the sunny Highlands of Scotland to cover up a 20yr old snake and some random Celtic flashes. It's a big raven that's going to have a good bit of leaf and flower colour surrounding her in neo trad fashion I note that four days in, the lines in my upper shoulder neck area have blown a bit. May heal a little better but I'm trying not to stress and think that the colouring will sort it out... The area was a bit nippy and maybe my skin, maybe the depth, who knows. I think it can be remedied in the completion - she is a big black bird after all. Fun and games. Colour going in on the 19th. Quite excited about having this large raven shoulder with me! Stephen

    Snake and Celtic cover up

It worries me a bit about the colour going in on this area but now that the tattooist knows what this patch on me is like, I am hoping for a decent outcome. The raven's dark nature also helps I think but I would rather have crisp lines on the outside edges and not going much further up the neck. It could get a little shading on the wing edges there which would maybe do it. We'll see - it's only four days since the line work was done. It may tighten up a bit but I doubt it. I note your blow outs and yes it is a sensitive area - my skin is 52 years old and I note that yours is a wee bit older. Maybe the age of it doesn't help. I will be happy with this in the end I am sure. The guys work is generally very good and this will look cool on completion I'll wager.

    Lyric tattoos

i like the idea of having images representing song lyrics instead of having the lyrics themselves that said, i also have "imagine" in John Lennon's handwriting on my wrist.

  14. I debated whether to hold off submitting until almost 12/20 or start off with a bang. I obviously decided on the latter, but I'm still excited to see all the entries!

  15. Is it possible he wants a deposit before discussing the design? If he's that busy I'm sure he doesn't want to spend a lot of time bullshitting/brainstorming tattoo ideas unless he's sure you're gonna book with him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  17. New addition to my "bird collection". Done by Pavla (Poppy Tattoo) during her guest spot in Prague. The photo is hers. Concerning the watercolor tattoos and their ability to hold, I can now compare the 2 year old tattoo with this new one because they are placed right next to each other. The older one still looks great and vivid. But I have very pale skin, and I almost never sunbathe.

  21. I was definitely unable to contain myself the last two months. -Dan Sinnes scribbled on this locust yokai at Temple. I'm so pumped on how it came together. He posted a photo of the draw on for hilarity. -Valerie Vargas did the Oni/Gorilla fight on my arm at the Bay convention. I liked the idea of the eastern/western imagery clashing. My right arm is all american traditional patchwork and my left is semi-american traditional style patchwork with Japanese imagery. This has already healed ridiculously well. Henning did the namakubi at the Bay convention. I had been waiting a few years to catch Henning at the convention when he had space from his larger works and this was the year. This is absolutely one of my favorite tattoo's. My girlfriend is definitely not as pumped. I'm blown away by his skill and kindness.

  23. Got back from the shop a while ago, came back with two new pieces. First and foremost, something I've always wanted, an American traditional panther! I love the way it turned out. And while I was there I got this cool little smoking tophat-skull to go with my cowboy skull on the opposite shoulder.

  28. These are both a year or more old at this point, but I never actually put them in this thread. The death's head moth was done by Oliver Peck when he guested at Kadillac Tattoo Mt. Airy (Philadelphia) last summer. Not the best picture, but he ended up slipping a lot of hot pink in there that wasn't at all what I'd expect from him. In the end, I loved it and was happy with how it came out. Getting tattooed by Oliver is as great as you'd expect. I had just gotten my shin done by Scott the week before and mentioned in our emails; Oliver came barging in yelling, "Lemme see that Scott tat!" right off the bat. After we were done, he actually took his shirt off and showed me a ton of his tattoos from Scott, Trevino, Rassier, Stell, etc. So fucking awesome. The torch moth was done by Keith Reed at X-Treme in West Chester, PA shortly after they moved to their new location. This was a "thank you" tattoo for helping them move. Keith is the best. Just an every day, no-bullshit, hard-working tattooer. Without him, I wouldn't know shit about tattoos. Not the best pic in the world, but @Dan and I were chatting back and forth and I realized I should probably upload em. Once that Grez knee you can see half done gets finished, I'll hit up the squidpants thread.
