  1. From 19:th of september, by TomasTomas at Into You. That was a beautiful and special day. Maybe 2 hours of tattooing and in total 8 hours with all the talking, planning design, preparing, listening to music, watching videos, sharing stories and experience. Tomas is fantastic.

Hopefully finishing up my Jondix/Chad collabo back piece next Wednesday 10/19. Appointment with Chad at State of Grace! haven't been tattooed there since 2010, so i'm excited to feel that vibe again. Dreading more pain on the back, but hopeful it's the last time!

  5. Portland tattoo expo was in town this week. As always, it's my favorite time of the year. I have always had work done there and this weekend was no different. I am working on a American traditional piece. Got to meet Corey Miller. He was not tattooing, but had a good conversation with him. Cool dude. Been a fan of his long before he was on LA Ink. Here's my piece. A clipper with a rose. Be good friends Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. @66pens87 absolutely wouldnt worry about those lines at all - way too many people hyperfocus on details like that instead of the impact of the image and how it hits you in the gut

  7. Hey everyone just got back from the shop a little while ago. Went in for a touch-up, left with some old school sailor jerry dice. This'll be my last tattoo for a while though, taking a little break.

    THE WALL stories...

The only time I have ever felt like tapping out was the first shading session on my ribs. After having it lined out for the first session and being complimented on how well I was sitting by the artist and the shop manager I think my ego got inflated a tad bit. My next session was scheduled for three hours and it was time for shading! Going in I didn't have a good night sleep and due to traffic I wasn't able to get a solid meal in beforehand but still fetl pretty confident I'd be okay. The majority of the work was along the bottom part of the ribs and lower part of the stomach/oblique. The first 2.5 hours sucked but I was able to get thru it and then I hit that proverbial wall. Once that I happened it didn't feel like I was getting tattooed anymore but rather carved with a knife very slowly. I was so close to saying "fuck it" and cutting the session short but I was able to pull through and finish. Somehow hearing that I had only "ten minutes left" when I had about three times that had helped me out greatly.

  13. As a newbie, and an over 60 one at that, I appreciate this. As I looked for my first tattoo, I wanted something that had meaning to me - did the same with my second, too - and ended up falling in love with a wolf head that had tribal lines associated with it. It spoke to me and what I wanted it to say for me - and had it done. This first picture posted on another web site got responses of "dated" "hello 90's" etc. I was initially taken back a bit...and then just let it roll off my back. What I get is about me - not anyone else.

    Small tattoo ideas?

IMO i think you should lay off getting tattooed for a bit - your other tattoos - aren't even healed yet. honestly, adding a load of fillers is not the best thing to do right now. but when you do fill the gaps (one day) in your current pieces, I think a snake winding through would be rad - snakes are great for filling awkward gaps.

  16. Ok so I caved and took a photo - crappy cell phone because I tried to get a close up and with an iPhone 6S Plus it's huge and hard to steady in my hand. But, you get the idea. Even though it's still healing I am so psyched at how it turned out.

  17. I think your tattoos are really cool. One thing about tattoo shading I've found -- it always looks better on someone else. When you are looking at your own shading, you are up close and you see how inexact it looks, you see the needle lines, and sometimes it even looks sloppy. That's because it is designed to read from a distance -- which is why it looks fine in your pictures and to others. Your line work may leave a little to be desired, but while maybe not excellent, I don't think it's bad enough to actually call bad. And you kinda want those traditional old-school flash-y looking tattoos to have hand-drawn look. I really think they would look worse if they were super precise. It's a style. This forum isn't reddit, so if people here are saying they like the tattoos, you can bank on the fact the fact that they're pretty good.

If this was the artist you have most of your work from I'd say stop asking us and ask him/her. Say you admired the tattoo and placement and wondered about getting something similar.

  20. Finished my upper arm this weekend at the Richmond convention with the (holdout) inner bicep area. Thanks, @darcynutt! She did the outer/shoulder portion of it last year at the convention, and I booked her Saturday to go ahead and finish all the way around. She made it look like it was all done at the same time, and I'm thrilled. She once again used my own aquarium fish in the design.

  21. Got this rad biker skull guy from @sour_jon Jon Gray at the Moncton Convention yesterday. Turns out its not a german SS skull with a stick grenade through the head, but a biker guy with a piston through the head. Shows what I know about bikes/cars! Still love it. Going back today to knock out a few more.
