  1. This - all this... Honestly watching the number of long-time valuable posters (many of whom were artists) disappear I'm guessing is for the same reason I rarely post - I'm tired of the snark. if it's lame ignore it and let the post sink. I'm here to talk good tattoos - not torture those with bad ones.

  2. haha what i meant was that the latest tattoo lowdown is really what its all about - people getting tattooed and showing those tattoos off - like if this forum could only have one thread - this would be it :) i think i was deep in the ipa's when i posted that though so i understand it sounds like a confusing post :)

    I'm going back in!

After 3 1/2 years of pretty steady tattooing, usual every month to six weeks, I finished two sleeves, chest panels and full back. I was pretty burned out, so I took about 1 1/2 years off, but went in today for a consult. We're going to do big a piece that goes from my right ankle to my torso and will tie in with my chest panel and back piece. I really needed some time to sit with what I had, can't wait to start.

  6. My big piece was finished last night. Sooo now becomes the deliberation of what I want to do next, where I want to do it. I'm stumped. Was going to talk to my artist last night but I was so focused on pretending it didn't hurt.. Husband has put his leather armor on hold and went w/a new artist, starting this tiger. He loves the new artist so that's great. A dragon is going on the back of the calf there and everything will be in color.

  7. I first found this forum years ago. Mostly lurked and learned. Watched all of the video interviews. And read a lot. Now it seems like a lot of the people who started this forum have little to no association with it anymore. Many amazing tattoo artists used to post here and I miss their opinions and insights. I used to get excited to check out the contest page, lowdown and upcoming tattoos. In my opinion this place isn't what it used to be. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  8. I've now lost 33 pounds and stabilized around my goal weight. I may try for another 5 pounds but, who knows? All of the college social functions make eating healthy difficult...but I'm determined to hold the line. I've learned that I can have a splurge from time to time, and then just get back to my routine. I am feeling so much better - but now need to buy some new clothes including 34" waist pants....which I have not worn since high school. The weight loss and tattoos have made me much more confident to wear sleeveless shirts and tank shirts..something I've never done before. Why did I wait until I was 61 to do this? Ugh. By the way, did I tell you how much I love this new tattoo?

  10. Hey everyone, here's my latest tattoo, Joker :) It's two weeks old, so it's still healing (2nd phase of sking flaking) and a little waxy. Also, another pic with how the arm looks so far (half sleeve yeey). I'm loving it and can't wait for more!

  11. Greetings fellow longtime site users. I have been noticing an unfortunate trend in topics posted to the site of late. Everyone and their brother and sister too, want to know; Is this is a good design that I found on google image search? Is my brand new tattoo as messed up as I fear it is after staring at it all day? Can you help me decide what goes with this, but I don't plan to like any of your suggestions? I got a bad tattoo and then a worse coverup and now I want it gone, but can't afford laser, and I have no intention of talking to an actual tattooer about a better coverup, what should I do? In light of this influx of close minded advice seekers, I have decided to begin responding more often, but with an increased snark factor. I will encourage posters to persue their pre-determined courses of action with great vigour! Most make it easy by stating their decision in their opening paragraph. I have noticed that some of you seasoned veterans of internet tattoo discussion, appear to be behaving likewise. For this I salute you. Let us make LST great again! A place where new users are cautious about telling us how it is, but where those who show a true interest can find a wealth of information. To the surly few, carry on fine friends. You know who you are, and may you respond well knowing that your wit and sarcasm are appreciated! P.s. Here is a picture of a tattoo I got, from Greg Christian, at the Art Tattoo show in Montreal this past weekend. I learned about him and many other greats through this site :)

  12. Hey @polliwog. Truth, right? My hubby had never set foot in a tattoo shop until Friday, much less seen anyone getting tattooed. He was fascinated by the process but really shy about watching anyone getting tattooed. He wanted to respect their privacy... such a sweetheart. In February, he'll be with me at least for part of my apt with Dobleman. It will be interesting to see how he handles it. LOL. I was TOTALLY teasing him about getting a giant eagle in his chest...

    New Tattoos!!

Gday all, In total I've got three tattoos, two of them are brand new this week, and one I've had previously. The tattoo I got on my inner bicep has bruised, and is slightly tender in comparison to the one I got the day before. One of the guys at work swears that it's infected, but I swear that it's not! I do plan on getting the rest of this armed filled in. Love this tattoo!! It has a slight blowout, but it doesn't bother me. Does it look infected? to me it's just bruising. This tattoo I'll be getting fixed up so that the blue shading is all the way through. When my arm is bent, it does make the tattoo stretch a little, so it makes it look uneven. Hopefully when the rest of my arm is filled in, you won't notice it as much. Thanks heaps guys!

  14. Hey, fellow woman with an untattooed partner! It's cool that it's working out for you guys. I tease my BF pretty often about what an ideal backpiece back he has (broad-shouldered, perfect skin). If ever a back were made for a violent tengu slaughter, or a battle royale...

  16. I wouldnt worry too much about what the style is called. Find a local artist that does good work and show them your refference, and explain to them what you like about it and what you'd like out of your tattoo.

  18. Mine too. Mine was done Wednesday night (a bird in the same spot as yours but other arm) and Thursday I walked around all day at work w/my hand on my hip or held the arm out from my body like a bodybuilder. Stupidly went to Taekwondo class and yeah that was tender.

    Hello!

I think most people are looking at this wrong, including yourself. Instead of trying to FIX it with lasers and excision, try to think of a way to make it work. I think marley mission has a really great message about accepting it and how in time it will be a piece that has value to you because of the experience that came with it. But I challenge you to leave it and find a meaning for it. Make it original and make it yours. So East and West are reversed. Maybe you have a perfectly good reason for that, and that meaning is only told to those who ever notice the tiny discrepancy from a regular compass. Maybe you have a significant life experience in which you felt you got turned around, or made a 180 degree turn to make an important change. Find a way to create a story of the significance behind the reversed East and West. That is what I would do, and think you might find something really great if you think about it.

    Tattoo Community?

I agree with this. You don't have to make someone feel stupid for not knowing as much as you. This is not always true. Telling someone their brand new tattoo is shit, or even that you think it's ugly, is never helpful and is pretty rude.

  25. Do you know people w/tattoos? Can get some recommendations from them and you can look the shops up online. Do lots of research. Those here can give great recommendations based on your location, ideas etc. I found the shop we go to now by asking an artist who had done some work on me and then moved farther away than I was able to go. He recommended a place, I contacted them and they were not willing to work w/us on doing a deposit since we are so far away-we couldn't take an entire day off work to drive 2.5 hours to stand in line at the door on the day they opened up the artists schedule books b/c they book up so fast to hopefully not be so far in the line that we couldn't get an appointment. So, I asked for another recommendation, we checked them out online, and called them. Super crazy easy to work with, and now we've been visiting them as we can for two or three years. If anyone asks me about them, I tell them where we go, and why, and I give them a card.

  28. As satisfying as snark can be, I wonder if these threads might not be discouraged if they were just ignored. Otherwise you're kind of granting their wish for attention. Let them die and sink down the page. I agree with you that it's a frustrating situation.

I don't know. I respected 3-4 of those artists (and actually followed 2 of them on instagram) before this season's contestants were even picked - and I was disappointed with each and every one of those peacocks. I haven't watched the last couple of seasons because I got tired of having to fast forward through the drama to see the art. Not sure if I'm going to be able to hang with this whole season or not . . .

  33. Who better than Chris Garver to fill a crucial spot on my forearm? I requested his rendition of a phoenix inspired by a line drawing in Ed Hardy's latest book, "Drawings for Tattoos." Aside from that, I told him to do it however he wants. I guess he wanted to make it perfect and pink. "Well... it's more of a coral." Either way, I'm digging it and I feel much more complete!

  35. Inside of my right upper arm. Adding more floral elements to connect the inside and outside at my appointment next month. We both got tired, and the shop was closing. :-) Hurt like a fucker. That unexposed baby skin inside my arm (as you can see, I'm very, very pale) was excruciating.

  39. The pain creates vulnerability, it reveals your true self. Through the pain you can receive clarity. My tattooer and I were talking about the tattoo pain threshold yesterday actually. We were discussing how everybody receives 'X' amount of tattoo credits, some receive more than others. But once you're credits are used up, they are used up and tattoo pain will be worse for you moving forward. So tattoo and spend your credits wisely!

This show is fucking joke. I've watched a few episodes and am amazed that they let some of the artists tattoo other people. What I really find hilarious about this show is when the judges tell the artists their work overall is good when it clearly is not. Miya Bailey is an idiot and in my opinion, is not a good tattooer at all. I had no idea who he was, then I looked him up and some of his work and pretty much laughed for a good two minutes...his shit is terrible. I'd like to know where they found Jayme Foxx and why they decided to make her a host...she serves absolutely no purpose on the show. The other female that serves as a judge is almost as worthless as Jayme is...I was really surprised Bob Tyrrell attached his name to this steaming cow patty.
