  1. Hey everyone, here's my latest tattoo, Joker :) It's two weeks old, so it's still healing (2nd phase of sking flaking) and a little waxy. Also, another pic with how the arm looks so far (half sleeve yeey). I'm loving it and can't wait for more!

  2. My favorite thing to bring is my wife. Even better if she is getting tattoed the same day- but sometimes we alternate. Outside of that, freshly showered and a solid meal. Sometimes I will have a beer with the meal, but I've never had two. I've never had a tattoo session long enough that it required snacks. If I did, I'd think something easy and protieny would be good- cheese and crackers maybe?

  3. Yep, this sounds like a very great day. We have done back to back tattoos with the same artist and side by side by different artists in the same shop. Both are a lot of fun.

    Hello!

I think most people are looking at this wrong, including yourself. Instead of trying to FIX it with lasers and excision, try to think of a way to make it work. I think marley mission has a really great message about accepting it and how in time it will be a piece that has value to you because of the experience that came with it. But I challenge you to leave it and find a meaning for it. Make it original and make it yours. So East and West are reversed. Maybe you have a perfectly good reason for that, and that meaning is only told to those who ever notice the tiny discrepancy from a regular compass. Maybe you have a significant life experience in which you felt you got turned around, or made a 180 degree turn to make an important change. Find a way to create a story of the significance behind the reversed East and West. That is what I would do, and think you might find something really great if you think about it.

  7. my wife and myself got tattooed by Oliver Peck in consecutive appointments at a Fresno show last February and it was a super great experience,we had a amazing day together, so much so we booked 2 appointments again with Oliver Peck at the SFO october show, pretty excited about it. I know it might sound silly, but it was a "bonding" day together, really fun. I have been to several shows alone, but it is way more fun with her,and especially if we are both getting tattooed.

  8. We eat at Spaghetti Works first, get some protein and carbs in haha. I bring a bag w/a book that I end up never reading, water, my lip stuff, cough drops/vit c drops just in case b/c I get a tickle or dry coughing sometimes. A jacket and fuzzy socks if it's nice outside and I have a tank and flip flops on b/c my arms and feet get cold. A couple times in the beginning of a session when I get into my zone, I have started to nod off, so I make myself concentrate b/c I worry I will have one of those omg I'm falling things and jerk myself awake..and then later in the session when it's really starting to suck and I wish I could go deeper into a doze, I can't. I couldn't even get into a Norman Reedus daydream during my last one...I was so ready to be done.

  9. Mine too. Mine was done Wednesday night (a bird in the same spot as yours but other arm) and Thursday I walked around all day at work w/my hand on my hip or held the arm out from my body like a bodybuilder. Stupidly went to Taekwondo class and yeah that was tender.

  10. Yup, I'll be there. No tattoos planned at the Convention, but I have an appointment with Jill Bonny the Friday afternoon before it begins. That should scratch an itch. I'm hoping to pick up a print or two while I'm there though.

  11. Thanks for the reply. This is essentially what I did, but I was hoping to get some opinions from anyone here that has a had a tattoo removed, with regards to what kind of lasers it was and what their experience was.

  18. Thanks to an unusually hard work-out while crewing a hot air balloon flight last evening and even with a post-flight splurge of a small cup of ice cream at a local dairy, I hit my intermediate goal of losing 30 pounds this morning. Only 2.5 more and I will be at my target weight....at least for now. Maybe I'll shoot for my high school weight instead of my Army weight.

  19. Went out to buy some new suits for work today - that in itself is not awesome...but I have now lost almost 30 pounds and when I found that I am able to wear a size smaller and a slim fit suit well......I'm feeling pretty awesome. I couldn't wear a slim fit when I was in College...and next year will be my 40th college reunion.

  22. instagram - to me - love it or hate it - is a game changer for evaluating what to expect from a tattooer its not everything - but its huge i like when artists post regular work not everyone does this but when i can go a year or 2 deep into someones IG and i see hundreds of tattoos they did well that says something if you see a consistent body of work that pleases you then you can feel confident that you will probably be pleased with the outcome of your tattoo like i said - its not everything but its a big thing in the current processes of choosing an artist i personally love IG i have mentioned to a few artists that i liken it to growing up and looking at the sports pages following your favorite athlete well - i dont follow sports these days like that but i like going onto IG with a cup of coffee and checking out the latest pieces of awesomeness that my favorite tattooers have posted anyway good luck in your search i also am a big fan of the LST interview section fun stuff and you'll get some good perspective on the world of tattooing

  28. I just got back two weeks ago from a service trip to West Virginia (I'm from North Dakota). My parish took a group of 8, and travelled with a group of 14, and spent a week working for and with the locals in Delbarton and Williamson, WV. It was most excellent.

  29. Playing Devil's advocate I think there are a lot of people that travel all over the united states to get a tattoo , when there are a lot of good people locally that could do the same tattoo. I am all for getting tattooed on a trip, but I have never traveleld somewhere just to get tattooed. I am getting tattooed by Mario Desa in a week in Chicago but I have a birthday party to go to on Saturday there so it works out. I guess to some degree I might be more likely to visit a place like San Fran because in the back of my mind I know I can get a tattoo, but there are so many people in Portland that I stilll need to get work by. Don't get me wrong I know there are a lot of people who travel a long way to get good tattoos, I know Iwar is coming from Norway and getting tattooed by Grime, Scott Sylvia, and Tim Lehi and I think that is bad ass.

  30. I've never referred to myself as a collector, but I've heard many other people describe me that way. The best was when I was visiting shops in Japan and artists would say, "Tattoo artist?" I'd say, "No, no, no" and they'd say, "Oh...tattoo corrector!"
