Ink Masters
Gingerninja and one other reacted to SStu for a topic
I watched it, but only because of a convergence of paths/opportunity, those being: a/ we happen to be in Houston this week b/ Nate Beavers posted about a 1st show preview party at the 8th Wonder Brewery c/ the 8th Wonder Brewery is about 12 minutes from our place here d/ they were raffling off prizes and free tattoos (! - which we did not win) Surprised this year that there will a couple of names I recognized, including Kelly Doty and Ryan and Matthew Murray. It was great meeting Nate, too. I wish him luck!2 points -
Japanese sleeve(s) - favorite flavor?
polliwog reacted to a_beukeveld for a topic
Its strange. I admire the opposite. Theres something so appealing to me about the "modest" bodysuit design. By modest I mean full back, full front with the "river" down the front, just above the knee and just before the elbow, with one main image on the back and one accompaning images on each thigh and each shoulder. I think in the west, tattoos have become sortof trite because we wear tattoos so boldly and outwordly. It looses that speacial something. I like the idea of being in control of your situation at all times, to be a tattooed person when you decide to reveal yourself. You can carry this secret side to yourself that not many people would know about. Not only that but I find it fits the body so much more naturally. Theres something about the suit stoppingvat the hands feet and neck that looks unatural to me. Not sure how I can describe it. If I could start all over id go with the modest bodysuit design for sure, as apposed to the American one-point style bodysuit Im heading towards at thr moment. I still love my tattoos, but I appreciatethe Japanese philosophy much more.1 point -
I enjoyed the show a lot. I couldn't stop snickering at the dicks who got so mad at Oliver when he dismissed them before they'd even finished. Made themselves look like total assholes.1 point

Japanese sleeve(s) - favorite flavor?
a_beukeveld reacted to soraya for a topic
I would so, so, so love to have 3/4 or full sleeves, Japanese style, but professionally it is just not an option for me. Sigh... I currently have Japanese half sleeves. There is something about the totality of Japanese sleeves that really appeals to me. It is like they transform the arm into a completely new thing. I really admire people with the nerve to go to full sleeves and display them.1 point -
Great video @Graeme thanks for sharing. Filip is almost like a myth for me at this point. A unicorn. A great white buffalo.1 point

Ink Masters
Gingerninja reacted to Devious6 for a topic
Did anyone else watch the Season 8 premier of Ink Masters last night? Team Peck's first pick was Ryan Ashley Malarkey - she is a local artist here in my area. And, just to make me feel old, she went to high school with one of my nieces. I actually checked her booking schedule about a month ago - closed until sometime late fall to begin booking for next year.1 point -

@a_beukeveld That looks pretty much like my two 'dermed tattoos were on day 3. Mine dried up within the following day or two. Once it starts to dry up it does it pretty quickly, and it'll seem like the 'derm gets hard and you will probably see some fun looking cracks appearing underneath the 'derm. Mine also started to itch during this process. I personally found it better to remove the 'derm shortly after the fluid dried up - with the first one I waited until day 5 if I recall correctly (a couple of days after it had started drying in any case), and it wasn't fun taking it off, and the tattoo was extremely dry to the point that I probably should have filled the tub with lotion and kept it submerged for a day or two... The second one I removed as soon as the 'derm hardened, and continued with lotion from that point on. If you're going for a "full" derm heal you'll want to be sure to remove the 'derm only when the tattoo is done peeling - and no, I have no idea how to know when that is :).1 point
