There's no need to start 4 threads on the same subject. You could continue the conversation in one of the other threads you've started, or simply ask the tattooer that you plan on going to to get tattooed.

  5. I doubt it. From what understand, it only appears on the edge because thats where its pulling on the skin the most, and the friction caused by the constand pulling is what causes blisters. Bacteria doesnt cause blisters from what I understand, but a broken blister is a good opportunity for bacteria to get in.

  6. I'm going to suggest a Saturday pre-convention brunch as an LST meetup if anybody is interested. I have an appointment right when the convention opens at 11, and my kid has an appointment for a vaccination in the morning, so it will have to be early-ish, like 9-9:30 near my place, which is a quick metro ride away (about ten minutes) from the convention. Let me know if you're interested and I'll make a group reservation. We can always grab a drink or a coffee at the convention too.

  7. Thanks for the response all. I feel a little better but it sounds like most people have mild irritation. I get these full on water blisters, not just mild irritation, but even then it sounds like others have had the same thing and continue using it so I may still use it

    Upcoming Tattoos

Annie Frenzel emailed me back last night! I hope, hope, hope we can get something worked out. It'll be my first tattoo in a year and maybe one of my only tattoos of the year. Going to get a battle babe if things work out.

  16. Good idea. If you arent sure, just ask him if he thinks $400 will be enough for what you want. He knows what his designs are worth.

  17. Thanks for your response, I will definitely give the shop a call. I believe it's a private studio so it may just be his mobile. I have set aside up to about $400 which seems like it would be good for a palm or so sized tattoo from flash but you never know, which is why I am sort of second-guessing myself. Thanks again

  18. I always ask for the price, as I need to know how much to bring. I always ask it last, tho, after everything is sorted out and the appointment is made and the design and placement are chosen. I just say, "How much do you think it will be? I want to know how much to bring with me." or "I want to known how much to set asside." Doesnt have to be any more complicated than that. If youve already shown that youre comitted to getting the tattoo, you shouldnt feel bad about asking for price. If you hear artists complain about it, its usually from clients who are price hunting and dont have any real intention of getting tattooed by them. If he doesnt respond to emails give the shop a quick call.

What he said. One thread is all that is necessary for the subject of one tattoo. P.S. She's started three threads on the same tattoo over at Big Planet! Good times.

    Armpit Tattoos

@bongasu, they're monmon cats. I posted a link in the latest tattoo thread a couple weeks ago. Both times I wasn't in the best shape health wise so I know that was a bit of an issue for me. Still worth doing for sure after seeing the results.

  24. My artist was the first to tell me that putting a bunch of words is a waste of good real estate. If you feel like you have to have the words, I highly recommend you get an image to go with them and get some old school banners with the text. But as everyone says, go to an artist and tell them your ideas. Then let them run away with it.

  25. I forgot to mention the version translated by Gustav Heldt. A thinner book than others so it's probably missing many nuances but it's a much much easier read. Also I mentioned the Taheiki previously, but I also meant the Nihon Shoki or Nihongi. Also esoteric buddhism as your friend mentioned would be good too. Good luck on that one. I've never been very good at figuring the Dieties out and understanding all the various gestures and such.

  27. Got tattooed last night at Art Work Rebels (see lowdown thread), what a treat! Had a great time talking travel etc. with Chad, I didn't realize that no other tattooer has tattooed in all 50 states. He says it was one of the best trips of his life, I'm so glad I was able to make it. He's putting a book together with photos of every tattoo done this trip, should be a pretty cool project. @Rob I I almost got that same image! That book was just full of great choices.

  29. I've been busy recently! First up I got this really cute cat and umbrella from Wendy Pham at Brighton Tattoo convention. I've been after this piece of flash for years so happy he's now mine! Next up (and also at Brighton), I got the side of my knee done by Jody Dawber. This was the most painful tattoo I have ever got. I was whimpering like a baby (and I usually never make a fuss). I had to dig deep to get through it! Thank god she's fast. And last but not least, my latest addition (again on the side of the knee) from my super talented co-worker Lucy O Connell. Had my eye on this babe for well over a year, so happy to finally give her a home.

  35. My boyfriend and I are hoping to drive up at least one of the days from VT! Haven't booked with anyone yet, as I am waiting until my BF definitely has his passport (hate that they changed that law haha). But I keep seeing Jim Sylvia has time still... so tempting... Anywho, if we do make it, would love to meet up with folks!

  36. If you want to get tattooed by somebody specific, make an appointment, but there will always be opportunities to get a walk-up. I wouldn't expect some local tattooers to be completely booked and there are a lot of tattooers here making quality tattoos: check out Arno Schultz, Nick Oaks, or Joel Marlo to name three. In my experience the Friday is probably the best to get tattooed because it isn't as busy as the Saturday, but it's all good. Honestly, I would rather get tattooed in a shop if there was the option, but this is an opportunity to get tattooed by people locally that I'd otherwise have to travel for, so it's fine. It's cool getting to meet and talk to new people and there's a good energy at the convention. There are so many good restaurants in Montreal. It's an amazing food city. If you want fine dining check out Park (I heard about this place when I got tattooed by Chad, he said it's the second best sushi he's had in his life, I don't have as much dining experience as him so it's the best I've had), Maison Publique, Joe Beef, or Au Pied de Cochon. We also have smoked meat and the best bagels in the world. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options if you're into that too. There are also some great public markets well worth checking out. I know the food here better than I know the hotels but there is plenty of accommodation in the city. Think about it!
