Latest tattoo lowdown.....
Kingdomhearts25 and 3 others reacted to Guerillaneedles for a topic
I've been busy recently! First up I got this really cute cat and umbrella from Wendy Pham at Brighton Tattoo convention. I've been after this piece of flash for years so happy he's now mine! Next up (and also at Brighton), I got the side of my knee done by Jody Dawber. This was the most painful tattoo I have ever got. I was whimpering like a baby (and I usually never make a fuss). I had to dig deep to get through it! Thank god she's fast. And last but not least, my latest addition (again on the side of the knee) from my super talented co-worker Lucy O Connell. Had my eye on this babe for well over a year, so happy to finally give her a home.4 points -
I saw yesterday that Scott Harrison just uploaded a movie he made in 2004-2005 to YouTube. I haven't had the chance to watch it yet, but with the following description, I can't wait to make the time for it:3 points

OMG, I have one spot that is so itchy. I can't stand it. One little spot. Someone tie my hands together so I don't scratch it. Considering I had a good amount of real estate tattooed recently, I'm blessed but this one spot is making me mental.2 points -
Listen to what your artist says about how to heal and care for the tattoo and follow his or her directions. If you have any questions or concerns, follow up with him or her. Soliciting advice about healing on the Internet is a terrible idea.2 points

Sleeves!
Dan reacted to Synesthesia for a topic
(There's probably 1,000 threads on this, I searched and couldn't find any though) For those of you with 1/2, 3/4, full, or anything in between sleeves, post a pic. Ideally a pic of each arm, or a pic of both together if you can manage it. Just want to see how different styles and images look alongside each other! I'm slowly filling up one arm with traditional designs and am brainstorming what I want to do with my other arm (pics of my arm would be a sorry sight, maybe someday  ). EDIT: I'm even cool with pics of awesome sleeves that aren't on you.1 point -

First tattoo advice
a_beukeveld reacted to AverageJer for a topic
It's an atom, right? I would find a shop / artist you like and show them the basic accepted atom drawing and ask them to draw up a version of it that they like. That's what I would do anyway. If you just want votes on A or B, I say B as it has more depth and artistic movement- whatever the hell that means.1 point -
So, this morning, while soaking in our spa at 6:30 AM like we do most weekdays, I "mentioned" to Lynn that I had scheduled my session for September 10th. Houston, we are Go for launch.1 point

I just looked on some previews Spike put on their youtube channel and from the comments, Ryan Ashley seems like she's very popular and one of the favourites.1 point

One week 'til season 8, can't wait! Rooting for Kelly Dotty, just because i know her from another forum she posts in and her tattoos are awesome! Also, i'm glad Picasso is making a comeback, hope his technical abilities improved slightly.1 point

An update on Rocky. He is healing well, but still seeping badly from under his left armpit. He wears a tee shirt to keep him from scratching that area with his hind leg. He only has to wear the cone about 25% of the time, when it is pretty obvious the itching is really bad - so we rub for him. I don't think smacking is the right thing for this kind of itch!1 point -

Healing a New Tattoo
Devious6 reacted to Guerillaneedles for a topic
Washing your tattoo in the shower is fine. What you don't want to do is let it hit the tattoo for ages and ages once your scab forms, as you don't want to soak it off (same reason you wouldn't sit in the bath). But his advice is sound!1 point -

NEW Tattoo of the Month Contest - INPUT NEEDED!
suburbanxcore reacted to HaydenRose for a topic
I wonder if it would be more helpful in narrowing down entries to either limit each month to tattoos completed in said month, or on the flip side: only healed tattoos. I do like the idea of having a different category each month. For example: "August SKULL tattoo of the month" or "August Backpiece of the month" or "August Palm-sized banger tattoo of the month". I'm sure us LSTers could get crafty with it1 point -

Pagoda was good... Peony by Rubendall, fall botanicals by Grez, Sailor Jerry swallows by Scott and filler peacock feather by Virginia Elwood. Sorry that the color saturations are all over the place (the peony and feather look pretty normal). Butt tattoos hurt!!1 point -
Solid black kidneys = only time I have ever puked after a tattoo session. +1 to mentally and physically prepare yourself. Be in a good place that day.1 point

" It's a good thing tattoos hurt " word from Jack Rudy .
suburbanxcore reacted to Graeme for a topic
You've said that you're here to learn, but I have seen very little from you that suggests you actually mean that. I recently saw some tattoos that Jack Rudy did in the mid-80s and the way they aged and settled in was incredible. They're perfect. I've seen more recent Jack Rudy tattoos as well; the guy who did my back has some lettering from him he did I think about ten years ago, and again, the way that tattoo is aging is perfect. So beyond being responsible for largely starting and popularising the genre of fine line black and grey tattooing, he's an amazing tattooer, one of the best ever. I don't think it's particularly hard to grasp why people respect him. This place used to be somewhere where actual real world experience mattered, and that maybe if you listened you could pick up all kinds of hard-earned wisdom. If you can't understand that maybe this isn't the place for you.1 point -

yeah i think its a risky proposition for a tattooer to go on the show i think most of the time the tattooers are portrayed unfavorably at some point in the season i cant imagine a successful tattooer taking the risk of going on a show like this1 point -
