  1. My evil plan is to have Henning fill in the space opposite Grez's fall piece with winter and spring botanicals. Mike offered to add more fingerwaves around the fall piece to tie it all together. I'm silly happy. @sophistre

I've looked at LST for a long time and have always been interested in tattoos/tattoo culture in general. I only recently took the plunge (at 30) and got started on my first tattoo. So far I've only got an outline done, I'm going in for shading in a couple of weeks. Look forward to getting more and being involved with the community here. Work was done / will be done by http://www.utilitytattoo.com/kaitlyn.html

How does everyone get people to answer their emails, I am having a hard time getting in contact with any artist I try to get a hold of. I am waiting and hoping to hear from Annie Frenzel for the Tampa tattoo convention, and Horitomo is supposed to be coming up this month, I think, I hope. This is more rhetorical banter to vent my jealousy than actual question. Sounds like you will be a busy man in September, can't wait to see the photos

    Scabbing

Agreed with the above regarding wrapping or the -derm products. I've consistently had pretty good heals, not always perfect ones though, rewrapping my tattoos. I actually didn't wrap a small one I got about six months ago because I was out of Saran Wrap and I figured because it was small it wouldn't be a big deal. The thing scabbed and healed sort of crappy. Go figure. Next time you get tattooed talk with your tattooer about it.

    Scabbing

you have my empathy. scabbing has caused me so much anxiety when healing tattoos. have you tried re-wrapping when healing? i think there is a thread on the topic that has a lot of peoples experiences with re-wrapping.

  12. I must admit, I did not watch season 1 and as someone who was into the comic, I am ashamed. Glad it was made into a show though. I will for sure be into this once I start getting it on demand.

    Road blocks ??

@Intomyskin I can certainly understand your feelings. It's easy for others to say "get over it." In the end, it is a very personal decision and what works or worked for me - or others - isn't really germane to you and your situation. I happen to be one who does worry about what my wife thinks about getting tattooed. She was supportive but I don't think I'd have gone ahead with it if she wasn't. I will make sure she is comfortable with my next, too. Our relationship is the most important thing in my life so I take stock in her feelings. Again, though, that's just me. Others don't feel that way....and that's OK. You'll figure this out and you'll do the right thing. I'm planning my next for September 10th - would do it on the 11th because of the relevance to the work I'm having done but my artist doesn't work on Sundays. 1 month today!

  14. Flying in from New Brunswick for this one! Basically hopping a plane after work on Saturday afternoon, spending a night and flying back after the con is over. Already booked a hannya on my arm from Dave Cummings, waiting on an email from Stace Forand for an oni on my knee, and hopefully a banger from Lucas Ford or Ryan Halter if I have time left. Going to try and grab some japanese refference from Gomineko as well.

    Road blocks ??

@Devious6: The "I'm not getting any younger" philosophy is driving me too. I've just got to get past this obstacle of telling my best friend. rationally, I can't imagine that he would totally dismiss me from his life if I get tattooed. He is like a brother to me. But it is a big, HUGE step for me, and perhaps I'm still having reservations and they are playing out through my friend. I hope you do become a trendsetter for college presidents! I really like it when I meet or see somebody with a tattoo who I would never expect to have one (like a college president). It makes me think, "Now there is an interesting person."

I have an appointment for the Montreal convention in September with Uffe Berenth on the lower leg with a Huginn and Muninn design. Had my place reserved since January, been jumping all around the place ever since!

  17. @Oiocha there have been times when i was waiting for that return email - what i usually do is send a second one that says that i'm sure they got the email and are probably swamped but...you never with emails maybe something happened and they didnt get it - hence the check in - that has always worked to get the timely reply - i mean - i treat it like any communication i am making with any other person - the way i look at it - i'm serious about getting tattooed and it is after all - the beginning of a business transaction - so the 2nd communication is just an effort to make arrangements for the tattoo - the key is to be polite

    Lower leg tattoo

To update today I contacted tattoo parlor with pics they say it's bad razor burn. And in all fairness the redness has eased up today. And the swelling has decreased. Thanks for replies guys. I was worried about cellulitis but apart from redness there was no other symptoms which would include heat, itchiness, pus, spreading redness etc. Swelling is quite normal apparently. Think I just have very sensitive skin lol.

Rocky, our daughter's dog, was attacked by a pack this morning and we had to take him in for emergency suturing and a drainage tube. We can bring him home this evening. I suspect the pack is actually a bunch of dogs that hick neighbors just leave running free and feed about once a week. One of my tattoos is a heart like the one on Rocky's ear.

Such beautiful dogs here! I always love to see pictures of them. Keep them coming! Lynn took this picture of me sleeping a few nights ago. Her side of the bed - empty. My side - me crammed in with our two Labs.

  33. I think for most people this won't look like much has been done, but oh well! All of the black/shading, with the exception of some clouds we're going to add, is now done. All of the lining, too. We had to line two more dragon feet and I thought I was going to die. If I never see another liner that size again, it'll be too soon! So now we get to start color after this, and I can't wait. Greg Whitehead and all that.

  39. Finally finished this huge thigh piece a few days ago, loosely based on the cover for one of my favorite metal albums! Pictures taken a couple hours after when I was still ridiculously red and swollen. I'll be sure to post better pics once it's done peeling. Done by Sam Warren at Dreams Collide in Lancaster, PA.
