Latest tattoo lowdown.....
Padji and 4 others reacted to Gingerninja for a topic
Pagoda was good... Peony by Rubendall, fall botanicals by Grez, Sailor Jerry swallows by Scott and filler peacock feather by Virginia Elwood. Sorry that the color saturations are all over the place (the peony and feather look pretty normal). Butt tattoos hurt!!5 points -

Thanks guys! I'm really happy with it. Pedro's a really cool guy and somehow got into my head to design the perfect tat for me. I was lucky, about 2 weeks ago he said he had a cancellation, so that was time for me to swoop in and steal that slot. I'm lucky I live by a few great tattooists, my next is booked for October with Chris Collins at Frontier.3 points

Bl**dy hell@Gingerninja, you were busy there... Tattoo hopping queen :-) All awesome, happy healing!2 points -
I'm sure that none of those things work. You'll just have to keep covered and in the shade for a few months. Give it until next march or so and you'll be good.2 points

I can't agree more homie. There are some tattoos, though as cliché as they are, that just looks awesome. In either quality or just a cool design.1 point -

Scars after tattoo removal surgery
Patrick Bateman reacted to mtlsam for a topic
Skin takes time to heal. Scar tissue takes time to settle. Wait a year or three and then choose your course of action. A real Dr. will tell you that it has to heal fully first. Anyone else wants your money. Also next time you need a tattoo removed try laser, it seems to work and not have as many after effects as excision.1 point -
Confirmation bias may be a factor, although I tried to count men's tattoos too, but yes, I do tend to notice other women with tattoos more than men, and it is probably because I have them myself, and because I am currently very aware of the issue of displaying public tattoos (see below) I'm still in the gradual process of "coming out" and getting comfortable letting my tattoos show in public. At this point, I tend to like it when people make comments (thus far they have mostly been positive), because it makes me feel better about "going public" with my tattoos. Maybe I will eventually tire of it. I get very interested when I see another woman with an interesting tattoo, and I almost always want to compliment her or ask about it. I just like talking about tattoos. But I do struggle because I'm always thinking that maybe the person doesn't want to be bothered.1 point

Getting logged out after each visit
Gingerninja reacted to omeletta for a topic
I noticed that I appear to be logged out when visiting the home page. But as soon as I continue to any sub page, I'm signed in as myself again (without actively signing in!). Odd, but means that I don't actually have to sign in, just click anywhere. Does this work for anyone else with the sign out problem, too? On a sidenote, it just so happens that right now, instead of being signed out, I appear to be Graeme on the homepage. Back to omeletta on any other page. I can even go back and forth. Funny that.1 point -

The ladies thread
soraya reacted to HaydenRose for a topic
There is also the issue of confirmation bias, which is kind of like if you just bought a red SUV, then all you see are red SUVs :) but it seems like there are a lot of factors that could influence why we may see more women with tattoos in warmer weather. On a side note, I always go through the dreaded phase at the beginning of summer when suddenly you're the "tattooed woman" and people feel way more comfortable complimenting a woman on her tattoos, but after a while, I just like to be left alone. Le sigh. I never understood the point of complimenting someone's tattoos. I obviously am happy with them and like them. They weren't forced on me, I did this to myself. Sometimes it just feels like being cat-called. Or maybe I just like complaining about people (and like to grocery shop in peace). :D1 point -
" It's a good thing tattoos hurt " word from Jack Rudy .
suburbanxcore reacted to Graeme for a topic
You've said that you're here to learn, but I have seen very little from you that suggests you actually mean that. I recently saw some tattoos that Jack Rudy did in the mid-80s and the way they aged and settled in was incredible. They're perfect. I've seen more recent Jack Rudy tattoos as well; the guy who did my back has some lettering from him he did I think about ten years ago, and again, the way that tattoo is aging is perfect. So beyond being responsible for largely starting and popularising the genre of fine line black and grey tattooing, he's an amazing tattooer, one of the best ever. I don't think it's particularly hard to grasp why people respect him. This place used to be somewhere where actual real world experience mattered, and that maybe if you listened you could pick up all kinds of hard-earned wisdom. If you can't understand that maybe this isn't the place for you.1 point -

binnacledon reacted to MoistTowelette for a topic
I have a fat gut and my entire front (including one nipple, one armpit and bellybutton) is tattooed. And it's probably the area I get the most compliments on the (the artwork, not the huge gut)1 point -

I have very limited experience with the -derm products but I do have a full back's experience with getting a backpiece. All you need to heal a backpiece is soap, water, time, and patience.1 point

I've followed Kelly for a while and finally got to meet him Saturday at the Houston Tattoo Extravaganza. He had a few hours open and I couldn't pass up the opportunity. He is all that you mention above and very humble. I'll certainly have him create something special for me in the future. Here's a photo of the very fresh, drawn on hanya he tattooed above my knee. It looks like it will settle in nicely when the grey wash lightens up.1 point
