Munewari on women
cltattooing and 6 others reacted to beez for a topic
Hi All! I really like the look of well-executed munewari. I have only seen it on men and a few smaller breasted women. As a larger breasted woman I am interested to see how munewari reads on...big boobs. So. To that end, does anyone have pictures to share? (lol good thing i've been here before because that ALMOST sounds creepy). Anyway, pictures of women, preferably with larger breasts, with munewari to the nipple. (definitely sounds creepy. but i'm doing it for the tattoos guys!) Thaaaankkks! beez (ps SF peeps, think i'll be down in the last half of august for tattoo!)7 points -

Second session down! Did want to sit for longer but the heavy shading over the spine did me in for the day. 4 and a half hours here. Definitely feeling better now that the majority of lining is done (although more on the thighs later, but the shoulders are blocked out and it's starting to look more like a backpiece now. Knowing what to expect in what area as far as pain definitely helped make the sit easier and go by quicker.7 points -
So we're leaving soon to put some sand between our toes, and enroute we'll be passing by a shop in Daphne, Al that I've been wanting to visit = called The Bell Rose Tattoo. Owner Sean Herman both does awesome tattoos http://www.thebellrosetattoo.com/sean-herman but also operates a semi-attached side project/museum/blog called the Serpents of Bienville http://www.serpentsofbienville.com/. While the latter is not not tattoo specific it did also lead me to a mid-80's (nsfw) documentary hosted by Peter Fonda which even features Lysle Tuttle dropping trou(!). Was mildly surprised to not see any reference to it anywhere on this site, so here it is: http://www.thebellrosetattoo.com/blog/2016/1/7/signatures-of-the-soul4 points

it's pretty normal to over analyze your tattoo for imperfections. we've all done it. meh i don't think I'd even bother with a special visit just for a touchup, the tattoo looks fine. you can always hit some of the areas bothering you when you session again with your tattooer for the next one. it looks like a decent readable tattoo, you're in good hands.2 points

Dismantle & Repair. It's a song by the band Anberlin. It's about one's life falling apart and yet always being put back together with grace, which has been a part of the story I have walked hence it being on my feet. The swallows signify freedom and the poppies are my birth flower (August) and represent my favorite part of summer =)2 points

Thinking about tattooing my fat belly. Good/bad idea?
TattooedMumma and one other reacted to beez for a topic
@Musashi DO IT! I know I'm late to the party but trust me, you'll love yourself (fatty or no!) more with an awesome tattoo on you. Also subconsciously you just told yourself that you and your body are worth an aesthetic treat, which goes a long way for long lasting self esteem, in my humble and personal experience. I disagree with the poster who said not to tattoo the tummy because it could change. Your whole body will change over your whole life. Don't wait. Live for now. DO IT!2 points -
SUPER nice tattoo! it is very common to need touch ups on black work. You can't tell at 5 weeks though and based on what I'm seeing any touch ups (if you end up needing any) will be very minimal. You did nothing wrong. well you are doing one thing wrong and we are all guilty of it from time to time. Stop over analyzing everything. It's a great tattoo and is still healing. Ive had areas of black that looked light while healing and then after it was healed it looked great. Congratulations on your tattoo. It's a great one! Get more!!!!! The more you get the less over analytical you'll become rob i do NOT think you should go to another artist. Whoever did this is good and gave you a great tattoo. Don't have it touched up by another artist. If you get more tattoos then definitely feel free to branch out to different artists as we all do, but there is nothing wrong with the tattooer that gave this to you and any touch ups should be done by them.2 points

I say do it! I'm 45 years old with two kids and definitely don't have my 25-year-old body anymore. I recently finished getting my entire a$$ tattooed, mid back to mid thighs. Stretch marks and cellulite included. It looks so much more awesome than plain stretch marks and cellulite :) Wildcat2 points -
If you go big and bold it's going to look fucking rad. Tattooed flesh looks better than non-tattooed flesh. Fat doesn't figure into it at all.2 points

pretty nice looking tattoo,I like it a lot.and you look great ! wait til you get to my age !(56) my skin is loose and getting wrinkly, but I am still getting tattooed and actually I am wearing more tank tops than I EVER have ! I am having more fun with my tattooes than I ever have as well.my wife and myself might be old,but we are fucking cool old people ! LOL1 point -
@polliwog I wish I'd seen this last year, have you had any of the areas tattooed now? I hope so. I found exposing my scars really very hard, even though I'd been 'out' with them for years. Same with my knackered belly skin. It'd been years since I'd done any damage but the urge did pop up now and again. I've had not a whiff of an urge since the tattoos. Nada. The actual tattooing, the process, seemed to really help somehow.1 point

TattooedMumma reacted to HettyKet for a topic
@Musashi yes, do go for it. I've made a good start on my belly and it looks so, so much better. The damage on the untattooed skin is less noticeable and I feel much better for it too. After two comedy-bellied pregnancies the skin was fucked. Crepey in places, stretch marks, weird stuff with the navel. I almost did't dare to get it out to see if it was tattoo-able but the women on the Ladies Thread helped me grow some ovaries and crack on with it. I think it was pretty hard work to tattoo, it'd probably have been quicker and easier if i'd been a bit heavier (like I am at the moment, the photo is older) but the colour saturation is even and consistent throughout. The textural differences are still apparent but much less obvious. This is a great thread and here's my belly1 point -

hello everyone, glad to be here on the forums. Looks like it's jam packed with a ton of useful information. I can already tell that this is a fun community and cannot wait to begin reading through the different topics available. Like most people that dive into the tattoo world without doing the proper research ahead of time, I ended up going into a random tattoo shop and picking out a design my first time. I really wanted a cute little humming bird design because I just love hummingbirds :) Unfortunately the design on my skin ended up being not to my liking at all and was very different from the design that we had discussed with the tattoo artist beforehand, which was very inconvenient. So being me, the impatient human being that I am. I had to get it removed immediately. It was not an exciting experience. Especially for a first tattoo. But bad experiences always help us help others along the way. So I look forward to sharing my experiences here on the forums :D1 point -
I'm with the above on the touchups. Any artist worth their salt will offer them, and when I first saw the post and the first pic I was wondering what the complaint might be, because the lines are solid and the script is very well done. This looks like a tattoo that will hold up (with proper protection from sun, like you already know, etc.) I don't think you did anything wrong at this early stage. No worries. Your artist has the skills, and everyone's skin takes ink differently, so a touchup is all that is needed. +1 to @kblood1 point
-
Get your free touch up. I do this too, always look at the little places that need more ink. Just politely show your artist and ask for touch ups, and as always tip generously =)1 point

@beez Thanks a bunch! Yeah, Scott's lightning is rad. He usually just blocks it out in a solid colour. But it does add a bunch of movement to the design. We're probably going to do an orange or yellow to fill it.1 point -

Ass tattoos
JazzyMac reacted to Intomyskin for a topic
I’ve not started on my back piece yet but I’ve been communicating with my artist about my plans. She strongly advised me to consider doing butt cheeks as part of the back piece. She said that most of her clients who get a back piece without the butt eventually come back and want their cheeks done, and it is difficult to extend a finished back piece onto the butt without it looking like an awkward “add on.” She also advised that including the butt allows better use of the body as a canvas because it allows the image to have more “flow” over a larger surface to create a cohesive design that compliments the body. It does seem that visually, the butt is sort of a continuation of the surface of the back. The crease at the bottom of the butt is sort of a strong termination line, and a natural place to stop, whereas the waist is pretty undefined. So stopping a design at the waist is sort of arbitrary. It makes sense to use the butt as part of the back, rather than a separate body part. Since I am doing a Japanese style back, it would have one large image or theme, rather than several individual pieces, so it does make sense to include the butt.1 point -

Hey all, Today I started my back piece with Scott Rusnak out of Lucky Strike Tattoo in Edmonton, Alberta. We are doing something a little out of the traditional notion of Japanese tattooing--a large octopus with some of his rad lightning laid over top. This is only my third tattoo (the other's being only palm sized jammers) and after my four-hour linework sit today, I am humbled. All of the spots feel like bad spots, but now a couple hours after things are feeling good and I'm looking forward to the next sit where we will finish the linework and start some shading, hopefully. We're planning on bringing it down to the knees with some rocks and heikegani crabs. The bare patch near my left shoulder will also probably be filled with some more water and another crab. Ultimately, this first experience was intense but totally manageable and very rewarding.1 point -

Fuck weight loss. Get covered in tattoos. My husband has a beer belly and I am trying to persuade him to get his belly covered ( and i dont mean as a way of hiding. It just looks bad ass and he is a big hairy angry looking bastard) . They look awesome! And who cares if you did lose weight after getting tattooed. Our bodies change over time anyway. Best to get the tattoos you want regardless of how our body may change down the track right? Also. I want photos. I may or may not be a perve. Its the internet. You decide .1 point -

Haha. I used to always joke about this, too. I would say to get my stomach done I'd either have to lose about 20-25 pounds or put on about 100. Either way, I'll still do eventually. I was really close to pulling the trigger and starting it at Pagoda City, then realized I probably won't be able to attend this year. - - - Updated - - - Haha. I used to always joke about this, too. I have a weird question that may or may not apply to anyone here. But, throwing it out there. I'm a compulsive picker (dermatillomania) which is part of what interested me about tattoos in the first place. Has anyone here successfully covered a particularly bad spot (or tattooed over skin that was formerly subjected to picking, even if the urge to pick went away long ago)? My worst area is my upper left arm. The biggest challenge is to let that area heal for a long enough time so that some of the mild discoloration there can fade--fortunately there's no heavy scarring. Good self-care while healing should also help a lot. I do know that I'm not tempted to pick at tattooed skin, mostly because I can't see any imperfections in the skin that might trigger me, but I haven't looked at tattooing my worst areas yet. Part of the problem is just the shame in having to show my scars to someone, after years of avoiding tank tops. I know tattooers are probably well-versed in covering the aftermath of all sorts of self-harm, though. This is a little embarrassing to talk about on here, but I appreciate that this is a pretty nonjudgmental place.1 point

Our Imperfect Skin: Scars, Stretch Marks, And More
piccalilli reacted to ironchef for a topic
This is a piece by Justin Weatherholtz at Kings Avenue. I saw it in person. Basically, this client had an acne issue and went to a dermatologist for an acne treatment shot. Problem was he turned out to be allergic to the medication and it scarred up the acne pretty badly. Justin tattooed in the scars and used the texture of the scarred skin to create an almost 3D effect. The blacks/greys in the water....that's scar dimpling and cavities that got filled in.1 point -
Here is an encouraging picture of a full back tattoo over acne scarring. I'm a little reluctant to post it, since it's not an uncontroversial style of tattooing here, but I'm mostly posting because it's a pretty extreme example of tattooing over acne scar tissue. It all seems to be older and lighter-colored, though. I have some (pretty minor in comparison) back scarring from compulsive picking and can't wait to cover it up.1 point
