  2. Female here who can absolutely NOT go without a bra :) I have tattoos on both shoulder blades, one of them I've had for almost 20 years. After healing, there is nothing that a bra strap (or any other clothing for that matter) will do to your tattoos. Welcome to the obsession! Wildcat

  6. My suggestion is to start learning about art so that you're not going to be inclined to go along with suggestions that you ultimately aren't into. Go to the library and start learning about art history, go to museums and galleries and look at art, take drawing lessons at a community centre or given by a local artist not so that you'll be able to draw your own tattoos, but rather so that you can understand how drawing works and so you'll be able to articulate what you do and don't like. Listen to lectures about art history on iTunes U. Watch the video interviews with tattooers on this site. Don't just limit yourself to tattoos either, look at art in general, and I don't just mean visual art here either, and look for art everywhere: on book covers, in comics, on skateboards and album covers, in architecture and nature. There is a relationship between the effort you put into getting tattoos and the tattoos you actually get.

  8. Wish I could show mine off more but I live in England so it's not that hot. At least my office doesn't have a dress code, I work in film and I swear half the office has tatts!

  9. me too,it's all about comfort,I live in a place that's hot in the summer too,Sacramento Ca, where do you live ? and right on to the dead shirt, back in the 70's & 80's I did about 75 dead shows. LOL I think anyway ! LOL

  10. I work in advertising, and no one cares what I wear. I show my tattoos a lot during the summer just because it is HOT where I live. I am really glad I don't have to wear grown-up clothes, too! Today's ensemble: Grateful Dead T-shirt, harem pants, gladiator sandals. I'm all about comfort!

  11. Well, I'm just going on a couple of people I know who have to wear grown-up clothes (and dress socks) to work every day, and the tattoos on their ankles look like ass now. It may be more to do with them being shit tattoos, though. :-)

  12. Thanks Wildcat, I was hoping to hear from someone who had lived with their tattoos a while. Good to know I'm just being paranoid! The tiger tat in your pic is ace btw! - - - Updated - - - Ha, I know that tattoos don't rub off. :p I just thought something tight like a bra strap that you wear every single day might make it age slightly quicker than normal. But looks like I'm stressing about nothing

  14. AWESOME!!! Greg kills it. One of my favorite tattooers right now, and on the proverbial "bucket list". I also had a small spot on each shoulder blade that was exactly like that. The machine would hit them and I would groan like a dying toad. You are a champion for making it through that much linework in one sitting! Especially from a heavy handed artist! - - - Updated - - - HOLY BALLS! Congrats dude!!!!!! - - - Updated - - - Kelly asked me for one last finishing session to polish off some details he wanted. It turned out to be MORE LINE WORK. :p

    My introduction

never heard 10 before...all the new tattooers are using like 15s to line out to get that siiiiick fat blown-out look on the fresh neo-trad tattoos. yknow instead of lining it proper and letting the years of age do its thang. gonna look awesome in 10 years! every been shaded with a 30 mag? shit looks like a metal paint brush ! (seriously though @Wamo ... you want to know what/why guys are using to line and shade? Not going to find it on the internetz...go get some tattoos and figure out the mechanics behind what's going on and follow the "LAW" Listen-ask-watch ...) cheers

  17. thanks for the calming words @bongsau ! another thing to note, when i went back to Chicago for a long weekend, all the bumps disappeared. back in LA, they popped up again. Just ANOTHER reason I'm moving back to good old Chicago :):) I'll be sure to post some pictures after my session this Saturday.

  19. yeah basically you will need something blackAF and bigAF if you are expecting to cover the triangle mess completely. I don't see a minor touchup correcting the roughness of your triangle tattoo. other options are live with it or laser. or black out that section of your arm and fade into your abstract / optical illusion idea

From the forum rules: "Do not start threads asking about specific tattooing equipment or techniques, LST is not here to teach anyone how to tattoo. Ask your own tattooer, the next time you are getting tattooed. Maybe they'll answer you, maybe they won't.

  26. LOL that's not me ! !!! LOL I don't even own a dress shirt or tie or slacks ! my version of getting dressed up is a button up shirt and long pants ! LOL . I wear shorts and tees about 11 months a year ! even for work,I must have been a UPS driver in a past life. too bad I have to wear shoes for work though :( no shoes allowed any other time ! sandals only ! I think I am permanently lost in island time. ya,I use a lot of sun block
    1 point
  27. IMO that's not gonna happen,if anything being kept out of the sun a tattoo will remain brighter and better looking. I have both ankles tattooed and wear socks for work and they still look great,I think the sun will do more damage to tattoos than any piece of clothing, and like was said,a tattoo can't be rubbed off,or damaged, or degraded by straps or clothing.

  28. Thanks for your response. I know tattoos age with time. I just had this image of a slightly more faded stripe down the middle where the strap sits. Good to know I am worrying about nothing! - - - Updated - - - Wow Naiemh your tattoo looks incredible. Looks like it will be amazing when finished!
    1 point
  29. Yep, I totally understand your point. I know it won't be a perfect tattoo forever, but I want to try to mantain it as much as I can so I can enjoy its perfection as long as I can :) I know any tattoo isn't 100% perfect, but at least the most important is that I find mine perfect, even when they are not! So, if I want the colours to not be never patchy, I will do my best so this doesn't happen! Also, for me, my tattoos are not like 'hey look, I'm tattooed gal and I'm so cool for having a lot of tattoos' I want them to be just beautiful so they can complement my appearance! As I like beautiful things, I want beautiful things to be drawn on me :) It may sound snooty, but I just wanted to explain why I want so hard to avoid colours fading, as my tattoos would be 'less beautiful'. It's, again, the perception we have about tattoos! But you're right, my tattoos won't be beautiful forever, and I will accept them the way they turn, but I want to do the best I can to slow the fading process ^^ As people in museums take a lot of care and manteinance of super valuable and old pictures, I want to be like them as I think my tattoos are super valuable for me! 30. hey no bra here but i dont think you should worry about it 10 years...shit alot could happen in 10 years its a tattoo - in 10 years it'll look different no matter what you do i'll bet you'll still dig it so bra - no bra go get some more tatts and enjoy - - - Updated - - - this - to me - is problematic thinking - no offense @Naiemh - I know we discussed this in another thread but to me I see so many threads lately with people obsessing about their 'imperfect' tattoos asking what to do about it - getting tattooed can be risky in a way - because you are giving someone else control of altering your appearance - thats why doing your research is important - in the age of Instagram - i'm not sure i see the excuse for failing to do this - not saying you cant just walk into a shop and getting tattooed by johnny random - you can - just factor this into your expectations and ultimately your perspective on said tattoo - anyway... - - - Updated - - - this - to me - is problematic thinking - no offense @Naiemh - I know we discussed this in another thread but to me I see so many threads lately with people obsessing about their 'imperfect' tattoos asking what to do about it - getting tattooed can be risky in a way - because you are giving someone else control of altering your appearance - thats why doing your research is important - in the age of Instagram - i'm not sure i see the excuse for failing to do this - not saying you cant just walk into a shop and getting tattooed by johnny random - you can - just factor this into your expectations and ultimately your perspective on said tattoo - anyway...

"What's one more?" is something Mrs. T says when it comes to taking care of another kid or rescue animal, so we'll test that out with our new adoption, "Finn". He was rescued 10 weeks ago from being euthanized by a new group called Houston Pets Alive. Most dogs get adopted pretty quick, but not this one. He's not exactly the most handsome little guy, but he is super sweet and we knew no one else was likely to give him a forever home. We think he looks pretty cool. He has warmed up and loves his new dog and people family. It is obvious to us that he was abused in the past, but we will be patient in returning him to a more secure and happy dog. Mowhawk? Check 1920's raccoon coat for the full Wayne Coyne effect? Check Finn was warmly welcomed to the pack by Andy (right).

  37. Thanks, @mmmsarah! It is addicitive. I stopped after one (really bad) tattoo for about 13 or 14 years, then I got a cover-up of that crappy tattoo, and I couldn't stop. Now 30+ tattos later, I am planning the next one all the time. :-)

  38. I never thought that about that. I have to say, i like that reasoning! For my next piece I'm considering a moon design with a crow, to contrast the sun and ocean. Sort of like life and death, all of that is on the same leg around the map and flag of my home country. - - - Updated - - - Cool! I'd love to see some of your stuff if you have any.

  39. Instead of going back in and trying to fix what you don't think is perfect with those I'd just get more tattoos around them to be stoked on, if it still bothers you down the road you can always revisit them later but in the meantime I think a new tattoo altogether would help more

  40. Ahlan! :D Yea man its the map of Lebanon with the flag inside of it. Im actually looking for ideas to improve on that piece, maybe some shadow or something, it seems very plain. - - - Updated - - - Compliments definitely do help for sure, but not that much. Thank you. Has that ever happened to you? You sounded pretty empathetic there. I guess I'm just looking forward to covering up the parts i don't like in a few months if they still haven't grown on me. I just get envious when I see like amazing tattoos on people and then I compare them to mines and I'm like why couldn't i have something of that caliber. You know?

  41. Hi, Vinnie. I would like to see photos, but I think your skin may just react strangely to being tattooed. I have had similar bumps, but they go away eventually. My skin sometimes rejects ink completely, and it disappears from my skin. My artist says he has never seen anything like it. He can usually go back in and touch up, and it stays the second time. I appear to be allergic to certain colors, and he sometimes has to replace it with a slightly different color. Our skin reacts different to being abused by tattooing. It's just a fact.

  49. I'm all for people getting whatever style of tattoo appeals to them the most, it's about personal taste and self-expression and owning your own body. There's not much point in getting tattoos because other people will like them, although that's obviously very common. I'm glad that there are all kinds of tattooers out there, "lid for every pot" and all that. Personally, I like tattoos to look like tattoos, even if you only see a little peek. If this girl were fully dressed and her shirt rode up a little, the glimpse of tattoo might look like scars from a terrible accident or surgery gone wrong. But I bet she loves it, and god bless her for that.
