  1. Just got this from David Parker at Black Heart Tattoo in San Francisco. Do I really need to say how I feel about this tattoo?

  2. Check out Mike Moses in Columbus, OH. He's very illustrative, but not exactly like the above style. There are plenty of sketchy tattooers in the US however, they usually do full sleeves for a pack of smokes and dimebag.

  5. Horrible idea. Unless you are deeply rooted in the tattoo industry with enough pull and respect to hire established tattooers, you're just going to have people who work for you long enough to make some money, and then its on to the next, better, more established shop.

  6. This topic has been addressed here before in this thread: http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/general-tattoo-discussion/152-non-tattooers-opening-shops.html Speaking personally, I wouldn't have any interest in setting foot in a shop like the one you described, much less getting tattooed there. I don't want to make assumptions about other people or try to speak for them, but I highly doubt anybody I have been tattooed by would want to work in a shop like that. If you appreciate the art so much, get tattooed a lot. Buy original art from tattooers. Don't seek to make money from it yourself because you see an opportunity for success. That just makes you a parasite.

  9. OW! Ok I don't think I've ever complained, or rather, commiserated on here before........but this thigh tattoo still hurts 8 days later. Certain spots are acting up and when I stand it gets worse. Boooo hooooo. Arms and back were not like this for me. I had to stay home from a kid's bday party and I ordered groceries to be delivered today because I just couldn't bear covering it or going anywhere. But I love the tattoo. So, there's that. :)

  10. That's looking good, @Kurgana! I know this -derm stuff is not for everyone, and is not part of the traditional tattoo experience, of which the healing process is a big part, but the annoying stuff to deal with in the first few days of a new tattoo is eliminated (no messy sheets, a lot more comfort). I'm sold on it since it works for me, and doesn't irritate my skin or otherwise pose a problem. Having gone without as many times as I've used it, I feel like I can confidently say I'm going to use it from here on out. - - - Updated - - - That's looking good, @Kurgana! Latest tattoo lowdown.....

I unfortunately don't have anything to add about the design history, but just thought I would say that Dan is a cool guy who seems to still have a low profile. Cool to see more collectors with his work.

  12. Booked in a month from now to get some filler glyphs around my armpit from Jondix. Looking forward a lot! Also it's going to be cool to get tattooed at Seven Doors, only visited before. Some days before I get my left elbow tattooed by Rudy Fritsch at the Scottish Convention. Iain Mullen did my right elbow back in 2012, second time I met him. Last year at the Scottish Convention Iain and Rudy finished my back. So having the other elbow by Rudy now feels like full circle in a way. Beautiful

Session 2 with Steve Moore. Another 3 hours into the back. He wasn't lying that the lining was more painful than shading. But the shading is still pretty bad haha

    The ladies thread

I go to a shop that is wide open, as well. They have portable screens that they can put up whenever the customer is getting something in an area that would leave him/her exposed, though. If I recall correctly, I was totally topless when I got my lower bra line tattoo. When possible, I draped the T-Shirt over my chest to cover the nipples but other times, I had to hold my breasts up and out of the way so that the artist could work. While I'm nowhere near Dolly Parton in terms of breast size, going without a bra wasn't an option for me. I used somewhat tight camisoles for the next two weeks as I healed instead of bras. This worked well for me. I also used those camisoles when I got my sternum to shoulders done so that bra straps wouldn't irritate the shoulder area.

  23. RHW inner bicep crew. It was a pretty dumb choice to get this as my second tattoo, given how uncomfortable the location turned out to be/how badly I sat. The only thing with covering your inner and outer bicep with one largeish tattoo each is that you then have that weird back-of-the-arm area to fill. Thank goodness for snakes, daggers, torches...

  25. It turns out that it's really difficult to take pictures of your inner biceps but here are mine. The skull is from Ron Henry Wells and the Haeckel mandala type deal is from Thomas Hooper. I am glad I don't have to get that part of my body tattooed anymore.
