Hello from Brazil! + one question
bedoktime reacted to spacellama for a topic
Hello guys, I'm a 19 year old brazilian, with 0 tattoos so far. I'm a front-end web developer so I'm really into design, and a little more than a year back I started "designing" some tattos I thought it would be awesome to do, and saved them in a folder. My plan is to create the tattoo design, put in the folder for at least 5 months, and then do it only if I still want to do it as much as I wanted when I did it (with this method I already deleted 3 designs). I'm really into low poly art, and some minimalistic designs, but I want to make only original tattoos (original as in I drew it, then recreated using illustrator/photoshop and tweaked it, not original as in "no one have it" because I'm sure a lot of people may have tattoos similar to my ideas). A while back when I first saw some wireframe low poly designs, I got really excited to tattoo a low polygon wireframe of a brain, but I wanted to do it on the inner side of my right arm (I'm planning on starting on discrete places first, so I can get used to having tattoos before I make some that will always be visible), and the brain design was too large and not tall enough to fit nicely on that place, so I put some more tought and decided I wanted something like a minimalist light bulb with a brain on the place of the filament (not original at all, but I wanted to draw something), so I drew a lot of versions, and I finally decided the best design, and recreated in Photoshop. The thing is: I'm worried that the tattoo will not look good with time, because I put the polygons with different shades of gray, and I know tattoos slowly loses the colors, I'm worried that the polygon colors merge with time, also that the brain details and the white lines at the middle vanish when the borders starts to get blurry. I already chose the tattooer and I trust his skills (I know a lot of his clients with awesome tattoos, and he has won some prizes), with all the experience you guys have: This design: Image can become a nice tattoo? In the inner part of the right arm, my skin is light (kinda like the image background), and it would be ~11cm tall Most of my other designs are more clear, but this one (exactly the one I want to do first) have this problem, if you guys tell me it's really difficult to get the tattoo like it's in the image I'll make adaptations until it's good to go. P.S: I just spent hours reading stories on that "Crazy tattoo stories" topic, and had a good laugh on the "Worst tattoos ever", it's a really nice community, and I hope to be able to share my tattoos when I start taking those designs out of the computer.1 point -
Yes, a sharp white and DEEP blue and red flag background (no pastels) and include some Marine Corps icons. Badass! You served it, you deserve to wear it!1 point

No problemo! I have a very similar scars underneath a few of my tattoos. Some are medical, some are self-injury. They are all covered. You couldn't pick them out of the tattoo unless you were really searching them out and I showed you were to look. But your pals looking will be distracted by the tattoo and aren't going to notice a minor scar. People are going to be asking about your tattoo "like bro how much did that cost, sick tatt bro" when they see your arm and not "hey what's that scar from". And yes you should tattoo your right arm. After you tattoo your left A_O !1 point

Leave it alone, it looks great as is. Efforts to "enhance" tattoos in the way you are describing usually end up taking away from the original tattoo subject. An eagle is already pretty "U S of EH" do you really need to make your patriotism more obvious by dressing your arm like an american flag? Get other tattoos and fill out the rest of the arm. Or incorporate the eagle into a wrap-around wilderness half sleeve with a colourful background. My $0.021 point

Telling My Parents
pidjones reacted to Spencer Jackson for a topic
I recently had to tell my parents too as my tattoos have moved down my arm to the visible portion. It was definitely nerve wracking as I come from a very religious family. But although my parents weren't super excited about it. They were very accepting1 point -
Ok, here's the condensed version of your answer (similar questions of which have been answered on this forum many times before): a/ continue to come up with creative and drawings, but start calling them "references". b/ find a professional tattooer who already is proficient in the type of art you would wear, and who can actually tattoo (that's a whole new subject, by the way) c/ discuss your vision with that artist and bring the references for guidance d/ let that artist come up with the final idea(s) Don't expect a true artist to be interested in trying to reproduce your idea(s). Don't expect a novice artist to be able to reproduce your idea(s). Avoiding the above = you might be lucky. you might not. you'll still wear it forever.1 point

Here's one that's all ready healed, hairy, a bit dry and shiny: Chad Koeplinger made this at the Stockholm Inkbash in august this year. I wanted a meditating figure but not in buddhist or hindu style and send him a bunch of different ideas of present and historical cultures/religions to get him started. I was very happy when I arrived for the appointment and he decided to not draw one of my suggestions, and instead made this hopi indian in a thunderstorm. Also this is the first tattoo with tattoos that I have my body, and the first swastika. Happy about that1 point -

Full Back Piece Experience Thread
Isotope reacted to Mick Weder for a topic
There's something magical about the full back tattoo. As young as 12, I was always awe inspired by seeing pictures, especially group photos of people posing for the photographs. I just knew that some day, I too needed to have that full back tattoo. Today, that's the tattoo out of all my collection that has the most significance. As people have already mentioned, it's no easy task. I think those big long sweeping lines that pick up all those different nerve endings was the most memorable experience for me. Don't concern yourself too much with the time you spend under the machine. I too use to look at long sittings as a significant feat, but these days I come to realise that time spent, is still time spent under the machine, whether you sit for 10,5,2 or 1 hours...every hour is still earned. There's no shortcuts. That tattoo has been earned through determination, a particular mind set and pain.1 point
