  1. Finished off my second rib panel today with Dave C. at PSC tattoo. I'll use the royal "we" and say that we knocked this out in three sessions starting in late September, about 8 hours total. I'm super stoked on it, the colour in the tiger really pops! Dave is a great guy, and his work speaks for itself, seek him out.

  5. Got this little beauty at the NB HubCity Tattoo con one week ago. A little hotstuff by Sailor Jerry Swallow, Canada's oldest tattooer. He was taught by Charlie Snow, who was taught by F.A Baldwin, who is arguably one of the first tattooers in Canada. He has the title of Hori from Horihide (Yes, that Horihide) and has been tattooing for over 50 years. He knew all the greats personally. Worked with Malone, Zeke, Jack, Irons, Huck, and all the others. Said Norman Collins was an asshole and Hardy was disrespectful. haha Funny thing is, the lady who wanted to get a tattoo before me didn't even know who he was and wanted to get a tribal design out of a magazine. haha

  6. A couple of pics taken professionally at the London convention, my first professional pics taken, some girl just grabbed me and took me into a room and said strip off lol Still got two days with Victor as he is not totally happy with my back piece, not sure what he wants to do. Its for a magazine, cant remember if its skin deep or one of them. Anyhow here are some stunning shots of my superb body!

    Tattoos in films

I know many of you are film lovers but there doesn't seem to be a thread about tattoos in films....I decided to start with my favourite from 'Eastern Promises' (this picture doesn't include stars on each knee that he had in the film, as far as I remember) I don't think people realize that most tattoos you see in the cinema are the work of theatrical make-up artists....I think they've made a good job on Viggo and those tattoos are also very important to the film plot as we realize that we are dealing with real Russian mafia, not some plain criminal...and that there is some tragic history behind each of those marks.... Anyone has a favourite tattoo from a film? Or maybe an opinion on how tattoos are represented by the movie industry? And why is there so much TRIBAL?? In the era of HD TV and digital cameras the excuse that some tattoos don't film well and it's best to use bold black designs is no longer enough to justify all those designs!

  9. I don't begrudge him for finding and filling a niche. The feed as a whole - the cutesy, tiny tattoos, the black and white, the Coachella clientele - just cause some anger synapses to fire, that's all. I can't control what my neurons find irritating.

  10. between @mtlsam and @Graeme 's PSC Dave tattoos, I think that a whirlwind trip to Montreal is needed for me, to fill out one of my remaining choice spots. And to get bagels..

  13. Just a note, it's been good! I think when I go back for the next couple sessions, I will have to cover it and possibly skip that first class after, but w/just the outline, it was hardly a blip on my radar the next day, so class went well, no issues w/rubbing or being uncomfortable. When I had the other side done tho, I was really swollen and red/bruised, so if it is like that on this side w/the shading/color sessions, I'll have to either slow down or skip.

    Happy to be here

Hey Everyone, My name is Jeremiah, I'm 32 years old. I'm from Chicago, I work in the music industry/production industry. I stopped touring with bands about a year ago, and now I'm a production manager for a well respected production company. I had a little girl in June and I'll be getting married in September 2016. I've been getting tattoos since I was 17, always in well known shops, by well known artists. Thanks for having me! -J

    Greetings, all

Welcome Steve. My concern with the picture you posted above is less to do with the lines, though certainly a lot of the detail especially with the dotted line segments will be lost over time, and more to do with pictures like that being inherently misleading. The tattoo looks wonderful in a picture, but the body is rarely static and something that really depends on this precision is going to be deformed constantly by regular arm motion, never mind the effects of weight loss and gain, age and skin slackening, etc. if your heart is really set on something like that, by all means go for it and find the best artist you can to do it, but don't go into it with the unrealistic expectation that the tattoo will always look like that. With that said, I think that with the right artist, and the willingness to follow the artist's advice especially regarding size and placement, you could end up with a great tattoo. Thomas Hooper did one of my arms and I brought him a whole confused mess of ideas, including some of Kepler's drawings, and while he didn't give me exactly what I asked for, he took the essence of what I brought him and really gave me the tattoo that I wanted, and I still have moments when I am kind of taken aback at what he did. I don't want to get into what my tattoo means, because it ultimately means that Thomas does incredible tattoos and I wanted one from him, but I kind of wanted a science and myth theme (hence the Kepler reference) and one of the elements of the sleeve is a nautilus shell on my forearm. Now, the tendency for spirals to exist in nature isn't the most unique observation, but this summer I was reading an article about the search for dark matter and the article was illustrated with photographic collages including those famous photos of neutrino paths, which are of course spirals, and totally correspond to the spiralling of the tattoo on my forearm. And that just struck me as a neat and kind of profound moment. So what I'm saying is seek out Thomas Hooper and bring your ideas to him because he will give you something that far surpasses your expectations. And don't worry about wanting to keep most of your tattoos out of everyday line of sight: this still leaves something as large as a full back as an option.

So... not been on to post anything in a little while. I had to miss a session last month for medical reasons. I would absolutely have preferred being tattooed for 3 hours compared to going to the doctors. Anyway I made up for the missed session yesterday. We did the blue on the back of the left leg and then started to put some green in the leaves around the blossoms. I have another session in a couple of weeks time which will complete the scales. We talked about maybe slowly fading the blue towards the tail so that it ends up super pale, almost white, which I think could look amazing. We are then definitely going to be on the home stretch. After 45 hours it is really coming to life and I am incredibly happy with it.

  25. Oh thanks so much guys, I feel better now! My artist does..ugh I don't know how to spell it. Mai Thai. Mui Thai? One I think is a drink tho..shoot, it's some sort of martial arts he does anyway, so he should have some input for me too. And I will ask my instructor-she's really laid back about that stuff and I know she sees how hard I try so I think she'd let me sit out part of class for a couple days. What really makes me sweat is when we do combination kicks. (part of it I admit is "brain sweat"..crap what two kicks are we doing? which way am I turning first?) I had a laser peel done on my face a couple times-the first time was after I'd just started so she and I stood in the back by the fan and watched the class, and worked one on one w/some techniques. I've got three forms to do for test, Dan Gun and Palgwe 1 and 2, so I could work on those for a while I bet. And I've got one step sparring I could work on as well if she gives me a higher color belt to work with. I'd saran wrap it for sure b/c the top is heavy and thick. It would be nice if I could leave it uncovered and wear a tank top but take one shoulder off..but that might be pushing my luck into disrespect and I don't want to do that. For the first class she lets you wear whatever b/c that's when she works w/you and you decide if you're going to like it or not, then you get your uniform your next class if you come back. I know you're not supposed to wear things on your feet but she had told me for my plantar fasciitis if I needed to wear an arch support around my feet she would allow that. (I've not had to so far) But I don't want to push the boundaries either.. I probably could work on basic techniques and things too, trying to tighten and clean them up, work on my pivoting for kicks. It's hard for me to rotate/pivot my feet. Haha tattooed ninja, I like that.
