That gives you an idea how they will fare in the long term. If they feel that nothing else is useful here, even the "biggest complaints" thread for some perspective on artist/client relationships, or http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/general-tattoo-discussion/2396-what-makes-good-tattoo.html, they are not someone I'd be interested in being tattooed by.6 points

Bwhahahahaha..... I'm in the same situation. I just realized that since starting to get tattooed again (after not 17-18 years) I've: -gotten approval from my wife ( a big step to the next 3 things) -gotten 11 new tattoos -gotten tattooed every month since last October (some months twice) -gotten hopelessly addicted to being tattooed :):):):) All good things really but.... HAHA. I know. They're all crazy up here. When I was looking at houses my friends in the area were like 'you don't need it up here! It never gets that hot!' and EVERY YEAR they pop into voice chat when we're gaming like 'OH MY GOD WHY IS IT SO HOT I AM DYING.' I know it's unflattering to be smug, but... :rolleyes:2 points

Booked in with Alix Ge to get a shishi lion and peonies on my thigh at the London Convention. Getting quite excited now but also a bit anxious. In a way not too keen to get this done at a convention but it does make things easier (and cheaper) as it saves me a trip to France.2 points

In the last 3 years I have covered one leg from the knee down, done a full back piece, and a half sleeve on my arm. Now working on the other arm. I was in a job for years that would not allow it. I'm 51 now and feel the need to get all my ideas on skin quick.1 point

Starting my tennyo hagoromo piece. Finished the outline. Thinking about keeping wings black and grey and coloring the rest. Any thoughts? I was going to put some clouds in the background but I went pretty big with it so I could get some detail in. This subject is usually a back piece. I was kind of concerned about it being too much for the arm, but I'm pretty much in love with the way it turned out.1 point

Thanks to you both! I was hoping getting two smaller pieces wouldn't be a big deal, but I just wanted to make sure... Now that I think of it, one probably won't be too much longer than an hr, and the other may be a bit more than 2 hrs, but not much. Like I said, I'd hate for something to be messed up after having to wait! Thanks for the link @SeeSea! I'll look through that to get some opinions from people that have actually used it (not just "testimonials" on the product's own site. haha). I forgot to mention, in addition to the ease of healing, another reason I was looking into it, is because I'm an EMT, and was wondering what to do about wrapping it and such for work... You know, because having a big open wound exposed to the unknown can be kind of a scary thought!1 point

Welcome. Don't know anything about those products but know that 2 tattoos with a total of 4 hours will be fine.1 point
-
Welcome! If each of your tattoos will be taking less than 2 hours, you should be fine getting both on the same day. Take a look over in the Saniderm/etc. thread for a lot of great information: http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/tattoo-after-care/4795-tegaderm-saniderm-tatuderm-healing-process.html. Many here swear by it, others don't use it. I doubt it would make your tattoo more vibrant unless you really screwed up a heal or got an infection healing it normally, but it certainly can help with the annoyance of having an open wound. But a good piece of advice is to try it out on your skin first to see if you have a reaction to it.1 point

Asking the artist to tattoo whatever they want
The Tig reacted to Mick Weder for a topic
Many years ago I think I may have been particular, but in the end...man, it was just all about the coverage. Power lines, bold, slam the fucker in. A crocodile over the ribs you say? Sounds good to me. A pipe smokin' wizard smacked on the side of the neck? Fuck yeah. But in saying that, after years of being tattooed by the one person, he just knew what suited me as much as I did.1 point -
Asking the artist to tattoo whatever they want
guitguy reacted to Margarita Yaschenko for a topic
The more the description of the desired object in the picture is better. Even if the description of the client will appear strange or silly it is better than too abstract objectless explanation. When somebody comes to me and says he wants to warm sweet tattoo - it could be anything.I have such an explanation will cause one association and another person to another. And I will draw a sketch of which as a result will not be so that the client expected. Because at the words "sweet and warm tattoo" I will represent as an object of the lamp, and the person will be the object pillow) as very simplified example. ) So I ask people who want to tattoo to explain it as detailed as possible - then the figure will be made easier. There are certainly exceptions, when prepared by drawing directly suited to the client, even though he had little to explain what he wants. But most people come in and ask for "something beautiful no matter what"=)1 point -
First off, I'm not a tattooer. I highly recommend going to the best shops in The Bay Area and asking their expert advice. Check out any of those shops that @9Years recommended. But as a collector that doesn't know anything about tattoos, I feel like you should get it lasered first to lighten it up a bit.1 point

hogg reacted to Patrick Bateman for a topic
Well, I finally quit my job of 9 1/2 years. Some may say that is stupid but the stress level was taking a toll on me. The last year was hell and not getting a raise in 4 years was eating away at me. Still living with my grandparents who have raised me, I have to take care of them. But when i'd get home, I wouldn't "de-stress" and would still be in a shitty mood, which isn't fair or nice to them. I made plans to quit and had tons of back-up plans set up. Two of my back up plans actually worked. I got a full scholarship to grad school which I applied for back in March. So Now I work on campus 18 hours a week and get a small hourly wage but my tuition is 100% paid. Also, my friend purchased a business and immediately had me work with her. We deliver drinks like soda or snapple in NYC twice a week. Starting out, I told her to pay me very very little just to get the ball moving in her court. After about 8 months, is when I'm going to start making some decent money. all in all, I am working less hours. Making more money (in 8 months). Tuition is getting paid. Thursdays and weekends off. stress level is at zero. Started going to the gym more. I am emotionally on cloud 9.1 point -

I did not know what my my side/rib/hip tattoo was going to be until I met with the artist at the show,a couple years ago, and I had a first session yesterday on my arm/shoulder,I told the artist that I liked water lilies and skulls and told her she could do whatever she wanted with those basic elements, she loved it,I consulted with her a week ago and when she showed me the drawing,I was blown away and told her I love it and to do it that way,and IMO this tattoo is going to be amazing !1 point -

Not that every tattoo in the new season was a gem, but it's the best field they've had since the first season. The last couple of seasons, people were still getting awful tattoos right up until the end. The funniest part was the guy that walked off and wouldn't get a tattoo. He said he has limited space. I'm sitting there thinking, "You have limited space so you go on a show to get a tattoo from someone you don't know, have never heard of, in episode one where all the worst tattooers are still on?" Not exactly a rocket scientist.1 point

Ink Masters
The Tig reacted to MarvelAvengers for a topic
Think you will see that alot of the apprentices have better tattoos than their masters. I would like to see some different judges though as they are heavily biased toward traditional. The reality as that most magazines and social media accounts servicing cool tattoos have been leaning more toward servicing multiple styles. With the improvement in machines, technique, ink, I think the whole bold will hold is a bit over played. I personally would rather have a highly detail piece that may need to be reworked in 10 years than a simple tattoo lacking detail and looking cartoonish and lacking detail. They look the same in 10-20 years because they never had the detail to begin with. I respect traditional, but other styles not given the same respect, while from a popularity standpoint, has clearly shifted to a broader range of styles.1 point -
I like the attention my tattoos get,I like it when people look.1 point

This isn't traditional Japanese but here's a "sushi koi" from Simon Golygowski in Montreal. https://instagram.com/p/3hSGCZg1ZS/1 point
-
First, don't worry about offending people with your tattoos. Second, you'll find that things getting stuck with arrows is not uncommon in tattoo imagery. I couldn't find any koi examples, but there are plenty of wolves. There is also a member here who has a wolf being shot up done by Chris O'Donnell, but I can't remember who it is. I think a shot up koi would look pretty cool. Valerie Vargas1 point

I can absouletly agree that pointing out technical errors (or just bad tattoos in general) is a positive aspect of the show. I guarentee there were a lot of people watching the show that didnt realize that fu dog was pretty damn terrible until after it was pointed out. This also goes into my theory alot of people look at tattoos as tattoos and dont actaully look at the picture. These are the same people that dont understand why people pay top dollar for good tattoos when their buddy does them for 20 bucks and a pack of smokes. Once people see the errors on the show they might be more tuned in when picking out an artist.1 point
