  1. My new pieces by Victor over last 2 days, he is bored shitless with faces, eyes etc so we tried some dotwrok and a little towards bio. He made the girl/demon face light to try and contrast Robert Hernandez's far too dark skull. He worked super fast, first day 5 hours, today 6 hours. :) We also had a funny convo about my back piece. He said when I had the Jesus done he had no clue I wanted my whole back done, nor did I. He said he would have done things a lot differntly had he known that, so we have now booked 2 more sessions as he wants to go rght over my back and change as much stuff as is possible to flow better and improve it, to me its fine lol Pics taken on my phone with my arse red raw lol Anyhow sorry for the arse shot again and I also covered the hanging penis nudity part :P

  4. Got a few more hours in on my custom dragon chest piece! So close to being finished but so stoked on how it's come together. London Reese is a pleasure to get tattooed by. Very easy going and cool to talk to. The shop is great, everyone there is a really friendly, cool, and talented as hell. After this last session, I now understand why some people say the chest sucks. 15hrs down so far, only a little bit more to go.

  6. Well, now that PAX is over and I've had two days to sleep it off, I can get around to doing internet stuff. @beez and I had a super fun time hanging out at Liberty a bit ago, because we decided we should probably go and get tattoos. Here is mine, by Christopher Ayalin: Good times! Spent PAX wandering around the exhibition hall feeling like the leg of my jeans on that side was full of mosquitoes, though. Ha.

Hi Jeff, I will give you the polite mesaage before harsher fellas chime in. This is more a forum for tattoo appreciators. It is not a place where we, who are mostly clients as opposed to tattooers, discuss technical aspects of the craft. Good luck in your search for info, but you won't find it here.

    Tattooing over black

hey @kvaz... i think you have at least three other threads for this same issue. http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/tattoo-advice/6905-can-you-add-white-already-exsisting-purple-black-tattoo-lighten-parts.html#post120159 http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/tattoo-advice/6904-looking-artist-who-can-tattoo-over-black-blue-purple.html http://www.lastsparrowtattoo.com/forum/initiation/6896-looking-tattoo-help.html#post120137 be patient, listen to the advice that is given, and the answers will present themselves. my advice... Fremont is not part of the Bay Area tattoo mecca. look into the list of shops given in one of the other three threads. take a deep breath. it'll be all good! oh... and try to keep the same topic to one thread. ;)

  9. The way i see it, the bigger the person the bigger the canvas. The only thing that makes tattoos look bad is bad tattoos. If you want a full sleeve or a thigh piece or a back piece then you get one! Just make sure that you research a kickass artist who is going to do your artwork the justice it deserves. My weight yoyo's, it always has done. Hasn't stop me having a rib piece, underboob tattoo and both thighs and it shouldn't stop you either! Girl power!

    Full Back Piece Thread

So here's a long overdue update on my back. its coming along...Unfortunatley life gets in the way and I wont be back for more work until mid November and I'll have to book some more appointments soon for december and into the new year. I was really hoping ot get to Montreal for some more work and check out the convention scene but Im in a wedding that weekend so it'll have to wait for next year. anyways, done by Scott Duncan at Sugar Shack Tattoo in Kincardine ON. He's one hell of a guy, and I love going there

  11. As others have said, the quality artist you choose will be just as safe and clean no matter where they're tattooing you. There has to be a slightly (tiny) increased risk of an infection, just because you're getting tattooed around hundreds of other people instead of 5-10 people in a shop, but your own aftercare is infinitely more important a factor. The reason not to get a tattoo at a convention has nothing to do with safety, it's about the atmosphere. I found getting a tattoo at last years Montreal convention to be WAY too loud and hectic for my taste. It was very difficult to have a conversation with my tattooer - essentially we were shouting half the time (booth quite close to stage). Afterwards I told myself I'd never get tattooed at a convention again... ...I'm getting my next tattoo in a couple weeks at the Montreal Convention.

  13. I have a tattoos on my upper arms, and it works just fine! In fact, I've said it before elsewhere (maybe even in this thread, but I'm too lazy to look), but tattooing made me finally feel comfortable in t-shirts. My weight has been terrible the last couple of years, and though I made a lot of headway with my recent training, I'm still overweight. I used to be tiny, so my awareness of my extra weight sticks with me throughout the day. T-shirts used to make that worse. It's very draining to be constantly aware throughout the day of something about yourself that makes you uncomfortable, so I avoided them a lot. I don't do that anymore, though, because all of my feelings about my arms are positive now. I mean...I'm not guaranteeing that everybody will instantly feel comfortable with themselves after getting a tattoo, but for me personally, it has helped. It was like planting a flag on my own body, or something. Hard to describe. Tattooing has me appreciating my physique. It's more real estate to put beautiful tattoos on. Haha! :o (This is actually a thing, though. Having more room to work with can mean having even more concepts for tattoos open to you on certain body parts!

    Where to post

That's correct per the forum rules: Last Sparrow Tattoo - Forum Rules Do not start threads asking about specific tattooing equipment or techniques, LST is not here to teach anyone how to tattoo. Ask your own tattooer, the next time you are getting tattooed. Maybe they'll answer you, maybe they won't. Thanks for asking before posting.

    The ladies thread

Today I'm off to get both feet done. They're only fairly small so I'm not fretting about the pain (in spite of surprise period arrival yesterday, ugh) but I've realised I'm being a total idiot about what to wear to the shop. My inner monologue is all kinds of "I just want them to think well of me!" and it's so ridiculous! Reading the advice in this thread I'm definitely going to pack ibuprofen. I didn't for my back (which was 5x 4 hour sessions) but I think today might be better safe than sorry. Periods are not fun. Tattoos should be, and I don't want one to interfere with the other!

  27. We're getting settled into our new place and I'm loving buying accessories and houseplants/outdoor plants. I've never really done much gardening before and never had much interest in it, but now that I have my own yard and garden, I'm really getting into it. My mom ordered a whole bunch of flower bulbs that are on their way in the mail and she's going to split half of them with me. My boyfriend's been joking that I'm finally becoming a woman.

    Koi Tattoo With a Twist

I like the idea. Koi are always getting a free pass in the tattoo world so I think it is great that someone is willing to put them in their place by putting an arrow through one :) One thing you might want to think about is placement. By putting a medium/large sized piece on each shoulder you are limiting your options for a potential future cohesive full back piece. Maybe think about getting this koi as a rib piece or half sleeve. Or go huge with it and have a koi back piece surrounded by animal skulls.

    Tattooing over black

The peony on my left arm was done over a very dark older tattoo with a lot of black in it. This was done in 2011 and the white and blue have held up well since then. I'll have the white touched up on a future appointment. I would have never guessed it was possible and was entertaining a chemical peel or having it lasered off.

I'm really into Kiku's backpieces, particularly this tiger. Makes me think that I might prefer this sort of approach if I ever get my back done. Apologies in the likely event that everyone is already well aware of these, but they're just so good.
