  1. Got a few more hours in on my custom dragon chest piece! So close to being finished but so stoked on how it's come together. London Reese is a pleasure to get tattooed by. Very easy going and cool to talk to. The shop is great, everyone there is a really friendly, cool, and talented as hell. After this last session, I now understand why some people say the chest sucks. 15hrs down so far, only a little bit more to go.

So here's a long overdue update on my back. its coming along...Unfortunatley life gets in the way and I wont be back for more work until mid November and I'll have to book some more appointments soon for december and into the new year. I was really hoping ot get to Montreal for some more work and check out the convention scene but Im in a wedding that weekend so it'll have to wait for next year. anyways, done by Scott Duncan at Sugar Shack Tattoo in Kincardine ON. He's one hell of a guy, and I love going there

  6. Welcome Zach. You're heading in the right direction by being careful about the artist you choose, and if I can offer further advice, you should listen to what the artist says about the design. I've seen tattoos of that tree before and they look terrible: to begin with, the picture you posted is a photoshop and not a real tattoo and so you can't expect an actual tattoo to look like that, it's upside down, and the design just isn't very applicable to tattoos so it will look aged really quickly. Something like that will be very hard to cover up if you become unhappy with it. The wolf is a cool idea though. Good luck.

    Hey Everyone

Hello, Just a quick introduction. I'm Kate. I am a collector and work as a bouncer. I'm currently on a couple of other forums, big tattoo planet with the same name and the tattoo forum as kittykat200 in case anyone recognises me. I'm pretty content with my tattoo knowledge so I wont be harassing people with silly questions, more just looking to meet other enthusiasts and maybe discover some new artists. I live in south east UK and my next tattoo will be in Perth in December of this year when I go for the first time to visit my best friend. Looking forward to getting to know you all. I warn you I am incredibly sarcastic, try not to take offence, there's no harm, it's just my shitty personality! :)

  14. It's just not responsible to perpetuate "alternatives to apprenticeship" (ie: scratching) at all - but especially on the internet, where literally anybody who can barely read can get "educated" on how to do damage to some other poor soul.

@Cork Thanks man! Im really happy with how its all coming together. You know, its funny, I read a lot of posts about it being bittersweet when a back piece is finishing up, but for me, I can't wait for it to be over. Don't get me wrong, I love the experience, the talks and hanging out at the shop, but lately my pain tolerance has been damn near zero. I feel like I've been sitting horribly. Its not like I'm tired, we were going every 6 weeks and they haven't been marathon sits, only like 4 hours or so. I can't explain it, it sucks right now getting tattooed. Haha. Hasn't stopped me from thinking about my next piece though...

I've been living in a shared house with my four friends now almost three years in Stockholm. Are your friends on lastsparrow? Otherwise they can find me on couchsurfing, or facebook: Joakim Mathiasson. Thanks man, appriciate it! (Just about to send the deposit to Kings Ave!)

  20. As others have said, the quality artist you choose will be just as safe and clean no matter where they're tattooing you. There has to be a slightly (tiny) increased risk of an infection, just because you're getting tattooed around hundreds of other people instead of 5-10 people in a shop, but your own aftercare is infinitely more important a factor. The reason not to get a tattoo at a convention has nothing to do with safety, it's about the atmosphere. I found getting a tattoo at last years Montreal convention to be WAY too loud and hectic for my taste. It was very difficult to have a conversation with my tattooer - essentially we were shouting half the time (booth quite close to stage). Afterwards I told myself I'd never get tattooed at a convention again... ...I'm getting my next tattoo in a couple weeks at the Montreal Convention.
