Got this from Hector Fong yesterday at Tattoo 13. Always wanted something from him, and walk-in Saturday showed up, when I had some extra cash. I took this photo at BART. Looked like a weirdo, but sunlight makes for easier tattoo photo's, I've found. Rad tattoos, everyone. Keep up the good work.2 points -
Getting tattoed at a convention - safe or not?
The Tig reacted to joakim urma for a topic
Never thought of it this way. I've had 9 sessions on conventions in total. Reputable artists will make sure everything is in order so don't worry about anything else than chosing the right artist for your tattoo1 point -
I had a great experience getting a tattoo at a show,I had a 9 hour one shot done, if the artist is good and reputable they will use all the same sanitary and clean procedures as they would in a shop ,so IMO it's not an issue, I know many people that have had tattoos done at shows and have had really great experiences and great tattoos !1 point

@Graeme, Thanks mate, I am extremely happy with how it turned out. There were some horrible spots but we got through them all. I also was lucky enough to have to deal with a decent amount of areas that had laser removal. Some areas took 3 times being tattooed before Kian was happy with the colour saturation, mainly in the snakes head and upper body. I have to admit the final design that we based it on was a bit of a last minute change of ideas. I had been looking into Hanya mask designs, foo dogs and also a big ass tigers :) but then found a print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi that i loved and he was keen to do so I sort of said screw it lets do that. We changed it slightly rather than just being a direct copy. Kuniyoshi, Matsui Tamijiro fighting a giant snake Looking forward to seeing yours finished as doing a tiger based backpiece was a front runner for quite a while. I know what you mean about the front being bare. I have 2 chest panels which I was happy with till the back was finished. Now I want the front covered as well. After that legs to the ankles and we are done. Not sure what I will do once all that is done. Maybe just kick back and enjoy the awesome art. :)1 point

The last few have been "hey I've got this weird space to fill and I liked seeing [example of previous work] from you, what do you think will fit?" I try to give a little direction since I have a good idea of what I like from my favorite tattooers, but sometimes the shape of the space is enough to prompt cool ideas that I couldn't come up with on my own, sketchbooks and flash are of course also good ways to get something unique.1 point

Hey :) Well, I have tattoos and I'm also a psychologist. Truth be told, we have an entire chapter to check about how our client looks like, and this of course, includes tattoos. This looks "chapter" is NOT as important as the others, but it is a source of information about our client - and any information we can get is helpful to better understand the client. Some tattoos have meaning, some don't. We are interested in those with a meaning for the client. Imagine a woman coming to your office, and she has a portrait tattoo in memory of her dead son. Maybe that's the reason she's there (the death of her son) and you'll want & need to find out more about it, and even if it's not, nonetheless it was an event that shaped your client one way or another. And what if tattoos could talk? What story would they say? These are very good questions to ask the client once you have established a relation with him. Some people really like to talk about their tattoos! There's also could be the case when a certain tattoo is related to a gang, to a rite of passage or even has a medical purpose (a tattoo which warns others in case of emergency that you have diabetes or certain allergies etc.) and it's important to find out the symbolism of these because it helps us, as I already said, to better understand the client. I could go on and on, but the basic idea is that there's nothing wrong with your psychologist wanting to know more about your tattoos :) P.S. - English is not my native language, so sorry for my mistakes.1 point
