  6. Heads up... I'm Selling a couple sets of flash on Ebay. 1) Dan Higgs/Eddy Deutsche collaboration from 1992/93 Vintage Dan Higgs Eddy Deutsche Tattoo Flash Set Ed Hardy Tattoo City s F | eBay 2) Eddy Deutsche/ the Pizz collaboration from 1992 Vintage Eddy Deutsche Pizz Tattoo Flash Set Higgs Ed Hardy Tattoo City s F | eBay I purchased doubles of each set directly from Eddy Deutsche when they were released and looking to sell off the duplicates. My apologies for the obnoxious watermark placed over the images but there are so many people out there looking for free Higgs/Deutsche flash, I didn't want just anyone to download and copy them (hence "weasels")

Thanks a lot @jimmyirish It's been quite interesting finding out who has worked with Ian, or who he has worked with at various times. The walls of his little studio are covered in great bits of flash and paintings as well by people like Wido de Marvel, Alex Binnie, Thomas Hooper, Jondix and Valerie Vargas. It helps quite a lot when having sessions on my back to state at something cool.

  11. Lucky Strike Tattoo in Edmonton, AB hosted their annual summer slam party this weekend !! It was a super fun time. Lots of tattoo show n tell, good tattoo talks with fellow collectors, jello shooters, moonshine, parking lot burnouts, picture machine flash jokes and got drunk with some new buds. I hadn't even cracked my first beer (4pm) and Scotty's like "it's a friggin tattoo shop take your shirts off". Got to check out some wicked tattoos in the flesh...Lucas Ford fudo backpiece, Steve Moore backpiece, a bunch of Steve Batt tattoos, a Steve Byrne ROA in progress backpiece (!), Bailey Robinson, Koeplinger, OllieXXX, Smilin' Dave and of course lots of fresh and aged tattoos from the Lucky Strike cats of new and old (Sam Sheinin, Bobby Tripp, Miles Kanne, Scott Rusnak, Brent Smith, Chris Iwaniuk, Myke, Julie). Anyway, got this super dope photo of Scott Rusnak and some fellow clients in the bodysuit club. from L-R ... Steve(?), Scott Rusnak, Derek, myself. Too bad we didn't get a backside shot... IG @ scottrusnak one of the most underrated young tattooers in Western Canada...he does really bright and vivid Trevino-esque Japanese style tattoos with attention to the details. Highly recommend him. IG @ lucky_strike_tattoo great local shop, quality artists and a really fun place to hang. some bongsau facts...30% of my tattoos have been completed at Lucky Strike, 40% if you include the Electric Tattoo days from 10 years ago!

  12. You must be joking, right? ... right? Seriously, not that I'm even close to being a scientist, but having all those chemicals on you every day will probably be a bigger danger to your skin and your health than getting a bit of unfiltered sun. I used to be really paranoid with the sun and my tattoos, and get stressed if I had to be waiting for the bus for 20 minutes in t-shirt and no sunscreen on. It's not worth it, all that stress. Now I cream up when I know that I will be in the sun a lot. Normally I don't bother. It's easier to just move to the shade after a while if there is no 50+ around. Perhaps I tend to wear long sleeve shirts a bit more. I think it's a shame if you let some over-protectiveness around keeping your tattoos pristine stand in the way of having fun and enjoying life. You are going to age, your tattoos are going to age, and you will die eventually. (Could be that I have this attitude because I never cared about being a lot in the sun, getting a tan or hanging out at the beach anyway. It's not a part of my life, so when I do spend time in the sun I can allow myself without feeling some "guilt" around it. My favorite weather is when it's cold enough for normal length jeans, but you can walk around in a t-shirt if you want to. Oh, and also I live in Sweden so that helps, we only got 6 weeks of summer most years haha..)

It depends on what you mean by interfere. A full back will extend into the area where the dagger would be, but the design could easily be worked around that. A lot of backs have cover ups and compromises worked into them and they can still be amazing, powerful tattoos.

I started a half sleeve koi as my first tattoo a few weeks back. We did the outline in the first session and will be returning to get it colored in a couple weeks. Mine was for my birthday as well..lol

  21. @Nina Worthe, another poster mentioned getting hives as a result of sun exposure, so I didn't want to sound like I was admonishing anyone because there are always exceptions. But there seems to be a consensus that a little sun exposure is beneficial for most people -- I was told as much when I was found to have very low vit. D a few years ago and was put on a prescription.

I agree with the above advice to talk to your artist first. If s/he doesn't have a preference though, I would say it would depend mostly on how soon you plan to complete the tattoo. Like if you're outlining one day and then colouring two weeks later, that would be fine. If you're waiting a year to finish it (due to finances or whatever), then I would say go with a complete element so you don't have an unfinished tattoo for so long. Really though a lot depends on composition, etc. so your artist will give you the best guidance to base your decision on.

I'm speculating here, but I don't think that the sweat gland damage is significant. Here is my train of thought... The main function of the sweat gland is to keep you cool. According to the Wiki, the sweat glands in your armpits don't have that function. So if anything, people should be more concerned about sweat gland damage on every other portion of your body. Speaking from experience, I still sweat all over. And I know that my tattooed skin sweat glands still work, because during healing, if I were to break out in a sweat, the fresh tattoo would burn with the sweat. @mmikaoj any pics of your pit? Also I may say that it's a great spot for shunga, but I don't think I have the balls for it. Ironically I was considering a tanuki.

So I am in need of some advice and thought you guys might be able to help me out. Having drooled over Paul dobleman's work for ages I've decided he's the only guy do the rest of my left arm, that sleeve that @hogg posted was the clincher! I have my eagle by Valerie on my bicep and was hoping to maybe get a panther on my forearm as I thought that would look rad next to the eagle. Other than that I'm hoping to get a clipper ship on the inside of my lower arm and a cobweb over the elbow. That just leaves filler and the inside of my upper arm which I guess we can just figure out as we go... The only problem I have is that I have recently relocated to Melbourne with my partner, so I'm looking at a 21 hour trip to get tattooed. We are looking at buying a business and property over here and once all that stuff is in place I think it's gonna be near impossible to find the time or the disposable income to do such a trip- so I figured it's now or never! As you can imagine she's pretty sceptical about the wisdom of travelling to the other side of the world to get tattooed but she's very supportive (long suffering?) and says she will support me in the project as long as I figure out exactly how long I'm gonna need to be away for. Which leads me to the advice bit, do you reckon the best course of action would be just to contact Paul and talk to him about the project and in that way try and get a sense of how long the project might take, what sort of time frame he'd be interested in undertaking it in etc? I was also kind of hoping to get the bottom of my 3/4 sleeve on the right arm finished whilst in San Francisco, as I know that there is just an embarrassment of riches when it comes to Japanese tattooing in that city, but I don't want to bite off too much... I really hope this doesn't sound like one of those how much/ how long for a sleeve kinda questions, I have been considering this trip for a long time and this window of opportunity has just come up. There are some great tattooers here in Australia, but if I get someone else to do the work I think I will be forever thinking 'what if'.

    Armpit Tattoos

I have a consult in August for my armpits. I hope they are less painful than getting feet tattooed. I'm lucky in that my feet were easy for me. I felt more of the vibration than pain. I was also super pumped up to be getting tattooed by Horitomo so that could have helped some too. I think it's wishful thinking though since when I got my back and both sleeves done, I remember my eyes popping out of my face when the tattooing hit areas at the outer pit area. I'm not looking forward to getting them done but I'm still going to get them done because it's one of the few non-reserved open areas I have that I can get tattooed. Interesting talk about sweat gland damage though. Hadn't even thought about that. Now another thing I have to fixate on before getting them done. Would love to hear more about it.

Nah, I wouldn't call it interference, I would call it a design variable. Think of it like framing the top of the backpiece. Or you can tile the background underneath the neck-dagger or whatever. The tattooer has to fit/cut the tattoos on your body and that fit/cut will depend on your body type, the look you're going for and the other existing tattoos in the area. I got my neck / tops of shoulder pieces completed before I started my back. Check out the pic in my gallery, you can kind of see it what I mean by framing. My blackground doesn't pop out of my shirt and now I've got this sweet gap (or maybe two?) on the back of my neck that I will fill in...now to chip away at my wife about how high that gap tattoo is going to travel up into my hairline hehehe...

  29. It's in the skin now, too late to second guess the placement! But you've expressed you are more or less happy with it so don't overthink it (which is totally natural, but stop yourself). There is no such thing as a perfect tattoo... Don't cover it, get tattoos around the fox and adjacent area on the forearm.

  35. I always walk around stark naked, as to not obscure any of my tattoos No but seriously... For me, part of the tattoo magic is that whole tattoos seldom gets seen in the best angle and the best light for a long period of time when you view them on other people. It's part of the charm I think, that they are a bit secret in that way. I love seeing just glimpses of well made tattoos pass by on the street or half a tattoo peek out under somebodys sleeve. Sometime the mood is right to ask them to show the whole tattoo, sometimes that's not the case. In my opinion, my tattoos are for my enjoyment first and foremost anyway. I don't think about how other people will or won't get a good view of them (except for job interviews or formal settings when they could be distracting) Talk to me in a tattoo shop or convention setting and I'd be happy to drop my pants most of the time. Not to be too much of a elitist snob but I think tattoos are for the initiated, who love and respect the art. I don't bother a lot with how my tattoos are viewed by "plainskins" when I'm out and about in every day life. Wear the watch or don't wear it, whatever you feel like that day. And enjoy your tattoos. There enough is time to get naked in front of mirrors in your privacy or with whoever you want to share it with. Just my 2 cents

  36. It was a great experience, what a cool guy Chris is. It was interesting--I left a lot up to him, size/placement/his take on the photo and what he wanted to use from it. But I was imagining it in color (just based on his other work)...even though my arms are all b & g. I hadn't mentioned it, though. So at one point he said something about being psyched to do b & g, since he usually gets asked for color... so I thought, cool then, it'll be b & g! I figured, if he was psyched to do it, and it's what he visualized after seeing my arms, then that was the right choice! - - - Updated - - - Yes, this was her response when I tagged her on facebook this morning: "Whoa! Speechlessly flattered! Love the worshipful gaze, it reminds me of many things...!" <3:)
