Yep, the time to be worried about placement, looks, and all that is passed. It's on there now, so you gotta accept it the way it is. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it. It wraps around the wrist a bit, totally normal.

To be fair. Does it matter anymore? It is what it is. Your tattoo. Love it as you should love your body with its flaws and unique marks. Basically, this tattoo shows a bit of life passed by you and that's that. If anyone makes you feel bad about it, it's on them not on the tattoo..or you :) Don't worry.

My reading of the story is that the judge made the order on the basis that she could contract HIV or Hepatitis or similar as a result of getting tattooed. There's also mention of her having been tested, window periods etc. To me, if that is the primary concern of the court, it seems like the judge shouldn't stop there ... Why not ban her from drinking alcohol in excess, having unprotected sex etc. also? The odds of her getting HIV from a tattoo are vanishingly small in comparison with other risky life activities. I think that's the main silliness of the story. For what it's worth my wife is still breastfeeding our son and just started a big side piece. He's over a year old and there have been no bumps in the road so far. I think where any kind of illness could pose a problem is in the early stages of nursing, the first few weeks or months, moreso than down the road when the baby is eating solids and whatnot as well. Maybe we're cavalier about these things in our house but we haven't worried about it overly. Breastfeeding seems to result in such positive health outcomes for babies (and arguably mothers too) that I would venture to say a judge should have no business making this kind of order without pretty pressing grounds for doing so, in my opinion, not just because of the effect it will have on the family in question but for the broader signal it sends out potentially. It's kind of depressing here in Ireland to see how many mothers who might want to try breastfeeding have formula pushed upon them almost immediately, even though ostensibly we're supposed to be trying to improve the rate at which women breastfeed. The main reason I posted the story, though, is that it illustrates a judge with a pretty skewed perception of the health risks associated with getting tattooed are. We'd have more than a few HIV cases on this board at the rate we get tattooed here, if his fears were well-founded. I suspect he's not the only one out there of that generation in positions like that who holds those sorts of ideas.

Hahaha. I may have to stop getting tattooed next year for medical reasons, and I don't earn much at the moment. How do you guys and gals feel about funding my back piece?? You can choose the artist even!

Veep is my favorite show right now. The writing is terrifyingly sharp, and the non-stop jabs have me rewinding to hear what I missed because I was laughing too hard.

If you have one of those apple watch things, they may not work as well if you have a dark tattoo apparently. Forgot who postedor where, but an article was posted about it somewhere on this forum.

I nursed my daughter until she was a year, b/c people said that was long enough, then my son until he was almost 3 b/c *I* said that was long enough. One year isn't that long. What I ate/drank went into my milk. You can drink when you are nursing up to a certain point, then you have to pump and dump, and it depends how long ago you drank. It's been over 5 years now so I don't remember-and I only did a pump/dump from drinking once, b/c it wasn't worth it to me. I had to pump/dump b/c of pain medication when I had my hernia fixed, a couple times, and that also wasn't worth it to me, so I just took Tylenol. I can't imagine wanting to be tattooed when I was nursing-and as a mother, I wouldn't want to take any chances. I don't recall dying my hair when nursing either. I thought there was a little blurb on the consent form about "I am not pg, breastfeeding, under the influence of alcohol or drugs" type thing? Maybe I am remembering wrong. And maybe it's different in other countries? - - - Updated - - - ETA: It really shouldn't be that big of a deal to refrain from getting a tattoo while nursing your child. That kinda goes part and parcel w/having a baby and needing to be adult enough to put someone else's needs in front of your own wants "just in case". Or are they trying to say that if'n you *have* tattoos you shouldn't breastfeed?? Is that where it's heading?

I mostly listen to Aussie shows, which might not be of interest to most of y'all, but there's a few American ones (and one awesome British one) on my list. Podcasts | Nerdist - I find Chris Hardwick to be a fairly shit host, to be honest, but he gets some damn good guests. I do my best to ignore his incoherent fanboy blubbering and enjoy what the guest's got to offer. The recent episode with Mike Judge was fucking fantastic. Stuff You Should Know: The Podcast - Just a couple of dudes talking about how various parts of the world, humans, technology and science work, but in a really easy-to-understand way. Some good humour mixed in. QI : Quite Interesting - No Such Thing as a Fish. This is a podcast hosted by the research team behind the British comedy news panel show. They each present a bizarre fact and then joke around for a while. Enjoy eh!

The other day I was wearing a pretty dorky anime t-shirt and shorts and waiting for an ice cream when I noticed a small girl sneaking glances my way, as little kids do when they know they're not supposed to stare at strangers but sort of really want to anyway. First she looked at my shirt, then at the dolphin-fish on my leg, and then gave me a conspiratorial smile. Like: you can wear cartoons on your shirt AND on your leg?!

I am typing this on my phone, so please excuse any mistakes or odd auto corrects. I apologize if I started a bit of a crap storm on this thread. I didn't mean to at all. It is of no relevance to anyone else's tattoo in regards to how long mine is taking and I never intended any. One of the first things that folks seems to ask about my back is how long it has taken so far. I am assuming that is because Chad Koeplinger is notoriously fast and everyone knows that. I put that info in my post because I assumed it would be asked. I wasn't trying to brag or insinuate ANYTHING other than my experience. My back cannot be compared to those with a full back piece or even those with background in a biker back piece. I have a big back tattoo that has so far taken less time than I would have thought. Whatever. Who cares? I guess I do because I am happy with the progress in the time we have spent. I salute all of you. The back is very painful and it takes real dedication and humility to commit to. Please understand that I didn't mean anything negative. I fled odd posting in this thread and even moreso now. All the best to you folks with in progress pieces. They are amazing to watch unfold.

Staring kids = smile at them, maybe wave! Staring adults = men or women... blow them a kiss! Usually gets them to stop except the time this body builder type threw his ice cream cone at me.....

@Synesthesia, the underboob idea sounds great! I like the idea of it being something other than a symmetrical flower/geometrical design (although I like them too)! I have been given the go-ahead to turn the cameo of my wife on my left shoulder into a half sleeve with cameos of the two daughters, plus something to represent each of them (gardening for the wife, fishing for the oldest daughter, and probably paw print of her dog for the youngest). Vines/leaves to tie it together. Not the typical masculine design, but the dragons/animals/skulls etc. are just not me. This will probably be it for me. I actually enjoy the process, but many factors will probably limit it there. I do intend for it to extend down all the way to the bend of my elbow.
