A heavy Chad Koeplinger cover-up/blastover from two weeks ago, photo from today: Tony Hundahl eye/flames filler on my elbow. Works great together with the Lehi tattoo I think. Never too much flames, hehe.. Tattoo from Saturday last week, photo from today:10 points -

This isn't traditional Japanese but here's a "sushi koi" from Simon Golygowski in Montreal. https://instagram.com/p/3hSGCZg1ZS/4 points

First, don't worry about offending people with your tattoos. Second, you'll find that things getting stuck with arrows is not uncommon in tattoo imagery. I couldn't find any koi examples, but there are plenty of wolves. There is also a member here who has a wolf being shot up done by Chris O'Donnell, but I can't remember who it is. I think a shot up koi would look pretty cool. Valerie Vargas4 points

Teenager conversation at the grocery store... Teenage Girl Cashier: "Like OMG this lady I know, like, she got a tattoo of a cobra snake ON HER CLEAVAGE. Like, OMG, you could see EVERYTHING. I mean, like, she was wearing clothes but OMG, like you could see her tattoo. Why would you get a tattoo so everyone could see it?" Teenage Bag Boy/Bro: "Yeah, well I heard you can get a tattoo for $100." Me: "Try double per hour" TGC: "Well, like, how long did your tattoo take to finish?" Me: "12 years so far" TGC: "Like, OMG that is sooo expensive." Me: "Would you rather be covered in cheap tattoos or nice tattoos?" TBBB: "Yeah bro, when I'm gonna get my tattoo, like, it's going to be the most expensive tattoo possible."3 points

On the beach on vacation this week (SPF 50 on my ink is leaving white spots on me). Thought of this thread today and this evening asked the wife if she was beginning to think of the tattoos as more of "me". She said Yes, and we discussed making the cameo of her on my left shoulder into a half-sleeve with cameos of the two daughters, some vines, leaves, and something representing each of their interests. She even suggested things to represent each. She's not happy with my forearm tattoo (says it's too dark, and it is), but accepts it as ME. Happy man today!2 points

I love your idea with the carp, I think it will be stunning imagery. Ive been thinking on my next piece and was concidering a dragon eating a carp or morphing into one. IDK, your idea is brillant. Carp killing where I live is a thing, I'm not much of a blood thirsty gal myself but people here are quiet inventive in their methods......explosives, AR15's and BaseBall Bats. Go for it!1 point

I understand when you talk about the placement of it. I feel as though I am limited with my options. I am still in college and with what I want to do in life arms are kind of out of the question at least at this point. When I get employed though and if tattoos aren't an issue, I do see myself having a sleeve or at least some tattoos on my arms. Ribs seem like they would be nice but scare me a little haha. I don't ever see myself having a full back piece but I'm sure most people say the same thing at first1 point

That tattoo looks sweet! I have seen tattoos of animals shot up with arrows but never a koi before and thought it would look cool. I think it would be cool to have a common tattoo but a little twist on it to be a little different. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't doing any injustice to the style of tattooing or anything1 point

My mom paid for my first tattoo on my 18th birthday. Then she paid for my 2nd on my 19th birthday. Then she got my 3rd and 4th and 5th and 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, then I lost count. She also paid for my first tattoo machines when I got my apprenticeship. My mom doesn't have any tattoos. My mom is rad : )1 point -

I'd only suggest letting the artist make the text and stem a bit better. I like it, overall. Color or B&G?1 point

@Ninab, @Morten Marbel, @Iwar and myself are planning to visit the convention. I don´t have any appointments, but I hope to get a tattoo from Ichibay if he is in London under this years convention. @Ninab hope to get tattooed by Paul Dobleman, Theo Mindell or Bart Bingham. Also looking forward to buy the new Ivan Szazi-book by Alex Reinke..1 point -
I realized a while ago at work that members of the general public are more likely to talk to me (I work a job that a lot of people think is interesting and that they are curious about) when I have my tattoos covered up than when I'm in short sleeves. If your tattoos don't deter foes then you're doing it all wrong. Time to toughen up, pals.1 point

agreed. and of the remaining likeable 1/3rd, I don't want to be around them 2/3rds of the time. and that 1/3rd of tolerable time with likeable people usually occurs after consuming 2/3rds of a 6-pack.1 point -
This is why I have tattoos I can cover. Once I got over my need to please everyone at the ripe age of 30, I realize I dislike probably 2/3rds of people I meet.1 point

Ron Wells put a snake on the back of my arm earlier today. I'll try to get a photo when it's healed but it wraps quite a bit. Somehow this is turning into my almost-tribal arm (except for my first tattoo, which is sort of orphaned on it but hey). In case it needs to be reiterated, Ron is great and you should get tattooed by him.1 point -

Further to what @cltattooing said: It's incredibly important to discuss price beforehand. Many people have a specific budget and cannot afford more at that time, maybe ever. We are professionals, offering a professional service. Payment is one aspect of that service. Part of the consultation for any tattoo, be it a backpiece or a small walk-in design, is to discuss the price. Then you can decide if you will get the tattoo today, or at a later date. If you are not told a price for your tattoo, you should ask. (at my shop we make sure that every client knows the maximum amount they will be expected to pay for their tattoo session, before they book an appointment or agree to get tattooed - sometimes it works out to be less) Yes, we're also in London. Not mentioning the cost of goods and services is certainly not a cultural thing here.1 point -

This is a tattoo by Ross Ferrie, taken from the logo of the first shop he owned "The Pinup Parlour" in San Jose circa 1994. Chris Conn worked at the shop for awhile and created this logo for the shop. Ross has the original hanging up by his station and every once in awhile people insist on getting it. There have been different variations over the years but this is the original.1 point
