So this just reminds me of Buffalo Bill from Silence of The Lambs. Sans tucking... Instead of a woman suit, let's make a coat of @Graeme's back. Sorry Graeme, you look like my size ;-) @BrianH, excellent observational skills. Dat crack!5 points

Ron Wells put a snake on the back of my arm earlier today. I'll try to get a photo when it's healed but it wraps quite a bit. Somehow this is turning into my almost-tribal arm (except for my first tattoo, which is sort of orphaned on it but hey). In case it needs to be reiterated, Ron is great and you should get tattooed by him.3 points -
D'aww. Come on over and get some tattoos! :) Edit: Oh hey, @cltattooing put up a picture of what we got up to today.3 points

Disgusting, I hate religious zealots! I Had an older man approach me the other day and asked WHY I did that to my beautiful skin. I told him I had waited my whole life for a beautiful piece and I love it. He then asked about when I get older like 40 and changed my mind.......I answered that I'm 43 and I'm quite able to make permanent life changing decisions. BUT Thanks anyways. It's funny though, that he would feel so uppity about my work since he had been panhandling before I walked up. I also had another man ask me what my tramp stamp said. I said excuse me...1 I'm not a tramp and 2 I don't have any tramp stamps. He answered It might help you get pregnant. :( WTF? Oh then last night, Hubby and I were getting a beer at a local pub when some skezie guy started talking to me about my work then started stripping to show me all his....He then asked about hourly wages. It didn't bother me since he didn't ask how much it cost. I told him....He said HOLY SHIT! I NEVER pay more than 40 an hour and my guy even does it in my kitchen....I smiled and walked away quickly.2 points

So I sketched something for myself...
sighthound reacted to Isotope for a topic
(mods if this is somehow not allowed, I apologize, no harm intended). So, as I said in my intro thread, I have zero creativity. Like, I'm about as clever as a brick. And I have general ideas that I give my artists free reign on, or, you know, traditional flash. But I've had this idea for awhile, and, figured, what the hell, I'll try to sketch it out to show a future artist clearly what I'm thinking. Even though I know I'll probably catch hell for trying to sketch out my own idea, my skin is thick. Freehand except for straightedge use. Let me know if you think this will translate at all in the hands of a good tattooer...1 point -

Here is a photo of the latest updates on my front. The owl/roses/skull have been healed are almost three years old. The goat on my stomach was lined about a year ago with the shading being freshly done (other parts in various stages of healing). The rose/flames/bones on my right side are fresh also in this photo. I'll work on the other side later in the year but, in the meantime, I will be picking up a little banger from Tomas Garcia in July.1 point -
And it translates to skin so well!1 point

@Lance Yes, finishing it in his new studio in Nagaoka. I don't have the space to start any really big new projects but I do have a consult with Shige... Maybe to see what we can squeeze in somewhere.1 point

I did two days back to back all the way through working on mine. Once or twice a year (travelling). Finishing this year. It's brutally sore though... I can understand your apprehension. I think it's better to go in knowing that it's going to be tough however.1 point -

It looks that way, though I'm still not keen on getting my arms covered. Other than my partner, hardly anyone knows I'm tattooed, and I like that. Well, people on here know, but no one on here knows me in person so it doesn't count ;) It's not that I'm embarrassed by my tattoo, I just don't like people knowing everything about me.1 point -

Day 8.5 and 90 percent peeled. Much less ink loss this time around with the dry heal. My conclusion though is that the reason for so many healing methods is because for the most part they all work and long as you don't do something stupid.1 point -

Nice when the tattoo comes in under budget. I think the artists want you to come back and don't want all of your $$ at once. I'm sure they lay jedi-mind-tricks on customers all the time.1 point -
Looks great @Kinglambert. Of course you have a leg idea in the works. Since that back is your first tattoo, I'm pretty sure that your only option from here on out is full suit.1 point

I was at a wedding too last week, and a grown man, who managed to reach 35 years of age, with a family, asked me if I was working on my backpiece myself. From neck to knees. Full backpiece. Was I tattooing it on myself. I just told him I wasn't flexible enough to do that and left forever.1 point -
Lower leg tattoo

No, not plastic wrap. I don't ever use that. The first couple of days when it's weeping more I use the large gauze pads with the plastic backing that are kind of like doggie pee pads except for humans. LOL! Not sure exactly what they're called. After that I just use regular gauze pads and I wrap over that with coban self adhesive wrap. I change it twice a day and wash with soap and water between changes. Plastic wrap I think would make me insane, holding in the heat and all that I had to look up Saniderm but it seems like it's the same principal as Tatu Derm. I have heard of people healing the tattoo using it for more than just the first day. I am allergic to Tatu Derm and the adhesive rips my skin off so I can't use products like it. You are VERY lucky you don't get swelling and pain!! OMG I have been through some of the WORST with my calf pieces.1 point -
Second sitting with Alex Binnie at Into You. Mainly on my backside, but also lower back, and some further up. This sitting was probably about 3 hours of tattooing, bringing the total tattooing time for the two sittings to around 6-7 hours.1 point

sighthound reacted to PopsBdog for a topic
I would say it depends on the tattooist and the tattooed. We never had an issue. I've always felt I was treated more than fair. Doing our first wedding tattoos with Dan, I think we asked just to get a clue. There was nothing weird asking. It is a matter of comfort. If you don't feel comfortable asking, you should probably leave. Getting the 25th anniversary tattoos, I didn't ask at all. I assumed it was going to be pricey. It was less than I thought, and it was less than the time spent by the hour. We were there 7 to 8 hours total and got charged for 4. Though as Freddy said "he had fun". I want to go back to just hang out. We were honored he took the job and I think he was honored to keep the continuity. Back to this: It depends on the tattooist and the tattooed.1 point -

Always pay in cash and never had any qualms carrying cash with me. I agree something symbolic about paying cash for tattoos, it feels right. Personally, wouldn't feel right paying with a card. My tattooist only mentioned price once and that was with the Giger portrait, he asked if had a budget, told him tattoo fund was at max and he laughed and said no budget then. He knows how much I have in my max tattoo fund that have with me (subject came up when first started seeing him regularly last year). Though never have reached anywhere near that. I have a plastic envelope which I decorated that I put money in for tattoos and, top it up when get paid. It is just for tattoos, that way I know what I have. The remainder from each session stays in it, so just need to top up. Yes am that fucking organised. I find it makes things easier when getting regularly tattooed. I decorated another plastic envelope (differently of course), to keep money for hotel stays in. Because I travel to see mine, 50 miles and public transport is shite after a certain hour, I stay first night in a hotel. So the money for the hotel stay goes into my hotel envelope. Even if not getting tattooed hotel money, goes into hotel envelope. My OCD likes to be organised. We don't tip over here, but I am a crafter and have plans on making him something, just to say thank you. Even though I gush that I fucking love him after every tattoo, but you know what I mean (I hope!)1 point -
