  6. I know this tattoo isn't black and gray and I know it's not neo-traditional. But it's what I've wanted for a long time so I guess I'm ok with having it look unfinished. What I was saying is that I will eventually get more tattoos and now I just need to decide if I want them to be black/gray or if I'm going the neo-traditional route. At this time, I still have the option to color and/or shade it (or leave it as is) depending on which style I end up going in. Thank you for your feedback. :)

  7. things happen to tattoos as they age - hey - we age too lol - as does our skin you know though - i like that its why - imo - you need a bit of sense of humor if you start getting tattooed alot because things happen i see alot of anxiety on this board with regards to topics like this dont get me wrong - totally fine topic what i mean is that people have expectations about their tattoos that arent realistic its art on skin that really never stops changing from the moment its on you its like you gotta embrace the imperfection of it all if you're ever gonna really enjoy it - ya know? anyway - love that tatt - but leave it alone - and get more tatts!

  8. Got a shoulder piece done on the 14th. At this time, I'm not getting color or shading. I like the negative space. And hope it conveys the softness and femininity I was going for and doesn't just look unfinished. Now I just need to figure out if I want to continue with black a gray pieces. I have an absolute love for neo-traditional tattoos. I'm just a little unsure how to mix my pieces.

    Trendy or against trends?

I don't care about nor pay attention to trends. If I am into something, I do it. Pretty simple.

    What a night!

Tattoo #5 is in the books. I'm 8 months into my apprenticeship and did my first tattoo about a month ago. This was, by far, my biggest piece. It took me about 3 and a half hours. My teacher wouldn't normally let me do something so ambitious this soon, but it was on a good friend that I did my second tattoo on (the smaller tree, outer calf). I'm pretty stoked on it. It was a good lesson in getting in over your head, breathing, staying focused and just getting the job done. Thanks for looking.

  15. At the end of the day, all your tattoos will look like they belong there. It sort of takes care of itself, coverage wise! Re back piece - really gonna depend on what kind you want (and you already know you wanna go to the thighs!) and the artist you work with. definitely don't stop considering how it will all look in the long run - your thoughts will matter when it comes down to it! - but it will also work itself out in general. IMHO w my own tattoos at least! - - - Updated - - - @knucklehead211 re acne - sometimes i have bad back breakouts too. None of my pieces have been ruined. Actually seems like I have fewer pimples in the areas of coverage.

@marley mission, Saw your post bud. Good luck! I run almost every day 3 to 4 miles. (When I am not sick) I also work out on the gym, mostly to loose weight and get fit.

  17. I just woke up and saw an alert on my phone about the earthquake. My first thought was the Nepal Tattoo Convention, so I'm checking in here to see if anyone's heard anything? I hope everyone is okay. Everyone, not just the tattooers obviously. - - - Updated - - - Via @briangeckleart instagram: "we are all okay! they claim the earthquake was a 7.9! many people were tattooing when it happened..myself included. we vacated the hotel safely, aside from a few injuries..but for the most part, everyone is fine. lots of devastation and not much information else wise. much love!" The hotel the convention is at is apparently extremely well built. Glad to hear reports of people being okay. How scary! Can't imagine tattooing/being tattooed when something like that is happening. Also - earthquake bacteria. Yikes.

  18. it looks unfinished thats not black and grey - thats an outline and neo traditional is more than outlines now if you like just getting outline work done then god bless but i think you need to take a minute to consider what you you really want if you really like negative space - then stop getting tattooed sorry - not trying to be an ass - just think you need some honest feedback

    Trendy or against trends?

Who cares what motivates people to get tattoos and to choose particular imagery as long as they're getting good tattoos.

    Trendy or against trends?

I think people without tattoos might assume getting tattooed these days is simply a trend, as a way to explain its popularity, but I definitely am not a follower of trends and have simply come to a point in my life (middle age) where tattoos are more meaningful to me and I love the art of them, and the way I can express myself through them, plus I'm less concerned about public perception (getting employed, looking "professional", etc). Also it is easier now to find amazing artists than it used to be because of social media and the internet. As for parenting, I'm realizing now, after having my own kids, what kinds of things affected my parents and how I was raised, and I'm cutting them a bit more slack! I can see how hard it is to relax and allow kids to become who they are, and how anxious you can get over your kids not making the same mistakes you did, etc. My mother and I will never be on the same page, but now I realize she can't help it, lol, and she's learned to just accept me for me.

  26. trend? no trend? if this is a factor in getting tattoos...you're doing it wrong

  27. I think it's just a dig. They know that you are not mainstream so maybe they hope you'll stop getting tattooed or pierced if they use reverse psychology on you and call it trendy... I think my mom tried that too. Didn't work, I still like tattoos no matter what people who don't like them say! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It always tickles me to see references to this app in the wild. I am actually a character in that series. (Season 1, anyway.) I am Runner Six. It uses my name and everything, heh. Crazy that I still haven't finished it, but I stress-fractured my tibia a while back and never went back to running. Nice work sticking with it! It's so rewarding to see actual progress. I'd love to do it again. I signed up for a 'train to climb' thing for the coming year, though. I can't imagine climbing Mt. Rainier at this point, but that's exactly what I signed a program commitment to do come the end of August. The training program begins in March. I am starting my 'train to begin the train to climb training program' training early, just in case. :p
